I have a 4 t b my passport external u s b drive . It is 1 year old.
It is sitting a few inches from my right hand, right now.
As I am not using it, nothing is being moved to or from the drive.
If I started moving files to or from the drive, or processing material on the drive,
, I could lift it a fraction of an inch, as in a few millimeters, and I would feel a slight vibration as the drive is spinning, because it is a mechanical drive, not a s s d drive.

A western digital my passport drive can be wither mechanical or s s d.
As I wrote earlier, do you feel any vibration or hum from the drive when you connect it to your computer?
