Re: Additional Free Voices for NVDA

You do know that with ESpeak one can change the language and then have
a choice of quite a few variants? I have mine set to English-US and
use the Daniel variant. But I do understand about different folks
having different hearing and that' it's all up to personal preference.
Just want to point out that no one is stuck with the default language
or variant.

Good, I like NVDa; I just can't stand that ESpeak. It's too robotic and the

accent is too sharp. I don't have a problem with real people with Australian

accents; I understand them just fine. Somehow, those voices are just too
something. I've tried running them real slow and still can't get used to
them. Maybe it's my hearing, or, perhaps I just need to try longer.

Glad I could help. Be sure to run the Microsoft runtime file first and then
the zira-pro. I did this while NVDA was running and then went into the
Preferences setting then synthesizers and found the voice. It is responsive
and understandable.

Never mind, I lied, it did download. I just didn't get the noise I usually
get when something finishes. Thanks for sending me the link again, Marie.

Monica,
If you download the zip file that was posted earlier, the correct files are
included. I just downloaded it and installed the runtime file and the
zira-pro voice on my desktop and I must say it is a vast improvement over
ESpeak. In case you missed the zip file, here is the link:

Is the 86 version on the page, or do have to find that somewhere else? I'm
asking because you said the info was missing.

Gerald,

I hope the below helps. I noticed this info was missing on the page
from the link that was provided earlier.

Microsoft Speech Platform - Runtime (Version 11), x86. Note that you
must install the x86 version even if your system is 64 bit.

I installed these two apps, but when I accessed the NVDA Synthesizer

not be loaded. Did I screw something up?

You can get the updated speech runtime update and extra voices from this
