using Siri on a data connection

Hi All,
I added a pay as I go plan from t-mobile to my
IPhone 5s this past Friday, but I tried on the way home from the store to have
siri turn voiceover on for me since I turned it off to make it easier for the
employees in the store to use the phone and siri told me she was having trouble
with the connection, then a few minutes ago I again got away from my wifi
connection and tried to get siri to open a few things and she wouldn't. My
data connection seems to be working because under cellular the data use kept
increasing, and I've already been to applevis and found out that siri should
work on a data connection, so what are some things that I need to check to
trouble-shoot the problem?
