How would this benefit MS?

I agree with Carlos it's almost not worth it. It over two hours the other
night to update my computer I check weekly or every other week it's nuts.
Yes I think this on purpose by Microsoft.

Yes that is possible, but even a typical update not accounting for the long
delay issue can take quite some time after a clean installation.

Isn't there a reasonable chance that this is the Windows 7 long
delay in updates that has been discussed on different lists and in some
articles I've read. As I recall, some people have simply let the update
procedure sit and eventually updates were downloaded.

I believe that in some cases the procedure was so slow that more
than 24 hours was needed.

Actually, upon further consideration, what you're describing sounds
as if it may already be in the middle of performing an update.

I'm not sure then. It sounds as if there may be a problem
with the Windows Update component.

Good Morning Carlos,

After typing, wuapp, into the Run dialogue I'm
getting a progress bar of 0 percent. I have all the usual links there,
except for the Important & Optional links.
Take care.

Hi Mike,

Try typing
wuapp
from the
"Run"
dialog. As usual, you can open the
"Run"
dialog by pressing Windows key+R.

Hi All,

I just reinstalled Windows7 Pro yesterday, &
I'm running Jaws15. I'm told that I've got new updates, but when I click on
the system tray icon it takes me to the desktop. When I go to the control
panel / windows updates I can't find the Important or Optional updates links
either. What do I do to get to these updates so I can install them?!
Thanks much.
Take care.
