Doing a defrag before you reinstall windows is totally pointless. What
I would do is image windows, but I have so much stuff going on that I
don't have the time to reinstall windoes once every two months, not to
mention all the work it would take setting everything up again. I say
you should reinstall windows every 1.5 years. I've had windows seven
installed for about 3 years now and defrag plus some pruning makes it
run about the same as it always has.

Hi Walt, You said . . . While I don't totally agree with Leo on

The late Debbie Scales had what I still think is the best solution
of all -- she simply reinstalled Windows every couple of months.
This gave her a totally clean system. While it may seem like the
most drastic possible solution to keeping your computer clean and
efficient, I'd argue that it's also the best way to ensure that
your system's really as lean, clean, and mean as you can keep it.

Ok, does that mean that she would always defrag or erase the C
drive before putting windows on again? if so, I bet she didn't have
much in the way of email, did she? Bill K.
