Hello,
I use second screen, in windows 10, called projector in 7. I press f4, with the second key from the left bottom roe, arrow to second screen, enter, tab to keep changes, then escape. It remains dark till I reboot.

Yes unfortunately that is the problem.  With most laptops it turns back on as soon as you type any key.  Just about every utility which was discussed had the same problem.  Really the only methods I am aware of for turning off the display and having it stay off are either via Device Manager or using the DEVCON command line utility.

How long does it stay off?  I thought, the last time this was discussed, that the screen would turn on again when something was done to make text appear like type something.  I thought there was a third party utility that was discussed quite a bit but I don't remember in any detail.

Actually many laptops do have an Fn key combination for turning off the display which is usually listed in the manual.

From a previous discussion on the list, I don't think such information will be in the manual.  There used to be a Windows command people could use but I don't know if it works in Windows 8 or Windows 10.  As far as I know, this feature is not offered by computer manufactures per se.

Would help if you provide a make and model. Also, run a Google search for
this information or for the user manual. The user manual will likely be in
pdf format so use adobe reader or some other software to search for the
desired information.

Dear Group:

Toshiba Laptop. Windows 8. Microsoft Office 2010. Jaws 14.
Is there a function that will allow me to turn the screen off? If yes, how
do I do it?
