Carlos, in a previous message, you mentioned getting a spare Sata cable. Is
this going to be necessary for connecting the new drive? You can probably
tell I've never had to replace an hd before and I apologize for asking too

Hi Sylvia,
It is not specifically a good or bad idea, but it is also not necessary.
The drive does not have to be the same at all. It can be a different model
and capacity altogether.

I was under the impression that I would need to replace the drive with
something similar. I actually prefer wd drives so I may look for the one

Also, note that you do not necessarily need to get the same hard drive that
was in your system before. Unless you have a specific reason, this is not
always a good idea.

Please let me comment here separately.
First, why $80? The 2 drives I showed you are just about $50. Of
course, there are more expensive 1 TB drives but you do not really
need to spend for more speedy drive for that computer.
About cables:
Yes. You may need an additional SATA cable. You also can temporary use
the SATA cable which is connected to your CD/DVD drive if you're not
going to use it during the cloning process.
