Re: Internal hard drives and cloning

There is no such thing as asking too much. Other members can choose whether

they wish to reply to a particular question. No one is obligated to respond to anything. As for having no idea what you are doing, if the majority of list members were technically savvy, LOL then this list and others like it wouldn't be necessary.

I have no idea what I'm doing. Isn't that after all the purpose of the list? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sylvia" <sylvia0647@...> To: <main@TechTalk.groups.io> Sent: Tuesday, September 13, 2016 9:54 PM Subject: Re: [TechTalk] Internal hard drives and cloning Carlos, in a previous message, you mentioned getting a spare Sata cable. Is this going to be necessary for connecting the new drive? You can probably tell I've never had to replace an hd before and I apologize for asking too much. -----Original Message----- From: main@TechTalk.groups.io [mailto:main@TechTalk.groups.io] On Behalf Of Carlos Sent: Tuesday, September 13, 2016 9:50 PM To: main@TechTalk.groups.io Subject: Re: [TechTalk] Internal hard drives and cloning Hi Sylvia, It is not specifically a good or bad idea, but it is also not necessary. The drive does not have to be the same at all. It can be a different model and capacity altogether. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sylvia" <sylvia0647@...> To: <main@TechTalk.groups.io> Sent: Tuesday, September 13, 2016 9:47 PM Subject: Re: [TechTalk] Internal hard drives and cloning I was under the impression that I would need to replace the drive with something similar. I actually prefer wd drives so I may look for the one Carlos suggested. -----Original Message----- From: main@TechTalk.groups.io [mailto:main@TechTalk.groups.io] On Behalf Of Edmond Nazarian via Groups.io Sent: Tuesday, September 13, 2016 9:45 PM To: main@TechTalk.groups.io Subject: Re: [TechTalk] Internal hard drives and cloning Also, note that you do not necessarily need to get the same hard drive that was in your system before. Unless you have a specific reason, this is not always a good idea. On 9/13/2016 6:24 PM, Sylvia wrote: I quoted $80 because this is the price for the drive that was similar
