I'm answering you about this question only because nobody else has done so.
I can give you a partial answer.

The piece which you need to insert must be copied to the clipboard. You must
find the point where you need to make the insert. I think you must put a
start mark before pasting.

I had problems like that with different versions of Goldwave. It's best if
you can check the manual about using the clipboard.

I know this isn't the best explanation, but I hope it can lead you in the
right direction.

Normally it delete everything if I were to stop and re record again.
