You are arguing semantics. You used the word best, while I used the word logical, but it comes down to the same thing. You make the choice that is within your means. If you cannot casually afford to spend $700, then that is clearly not your best choice.

It is like everything. If you have no many choices, you have to pick up

And the fact is that as with many expensive items, what is most cost
effective is not necessarily most realistic. If you don't have $700 to
spend out of pocket, then you don't have it. If you don't have $30000 to
spend for that new car, then you pay it off over a period of time despite
interest rates as most people do.

the phone more expensive over the term of the contract lol. So it's
