Re: Decktalk Express with NVDA

Hello Eleni,

The add-on is hard coded for com3. If you change line 3 of express.py to read PORT="com1" the add-on should work. The only issue I have is that I get garbage spoken at the beginnings of items when I arrow through directories and menus. I have a friend who uses a serial DECTalk Express whom I am trying to get to move from an old version of window-eyes to NvDA. Unfortunately, I don't understand the rest of the add-on's code well enough yet to figure out how to filter the garbage. If you still want to test your DECTalk, I can send instructions on how to modify the add-on. I would send you a modified copy but I don't want to risk the wrath of the authors by distributing a modified copy without their permission. BTW, is anyone else using this add-on with a serial DECTalk? If so, are you getting garbage as described above? George

I just tried it with both of them on my computer but NVDA didn't recognise it. I wanted to test my synthesizer to make sure it was working before I tried it in DOS, but I guess I'll just do so and see what happens. Thanks, Eleni
