I think that the reason that Braille has been modified is so that

children reading with kids in public schools know where there is bold face type, a lot of graphic stuff. Were I not married to a printer I would not have had the slightest clue in God's world why they're doing it. Nemmeth Code is bad enough. I can understand with it that they needed to expand Braille for computer symbols, but there is no pattern to it like with Braille, Grades 1, 1 1/2, 2 and 3. Bye for now, Carolyn

I have always felt that if something's not broke don't fix it..? In other words why re-invent the wheel? Just wondered? P.S. I will continue to use the grade 2 braille that I have always used in my personal note taking and other personal corespondence. Thanks and Have A Great Day! de <KF8LT><Jim Wohlgamuth>. Just how changed is it from what some of us grew up with and are using regularly? Is there a list of changes and new contractions available? I truly hope this system hasn't been radically changed so would be interested in any help or experience from one who's used it.
