Subject: [TechTalk] Problems plugging a road runner address into OE for
I'm actually having trouble getting 2 different types of e-mail addresses to
work in OE for windows 7 but I'll separate them into 2 messages.
With my road runner address, I just get an error when checking mail when I
read the status line but it doesn't give me an error number or anything, it
just says error.
Time-Warner was my cable company and of course now it's Spectrum after the
merger with Charter, and I called Spectrum yesterday to try to get help with
my problem but didn't get anywhere. The guy was eventually able to show me
how to check my mail through webmail, but I don't like doing it that way so
I told him that I use outlook express and I asked him what the incoming and
outgoing server addresses should be and he really couldn't tell me. In the
past I have used pop-server.gt.rr.com for incoming and smtp-server.gt.rr.com
for outgoing, and he said that if those didn't work to try mail.twc.com for
both incoming and outgoing but nothing worked.
I know that there is at least one person on the list who converted from
Time-Warner to Spectrum because he has tried to answer a few of my questions
recently, but if anybody has any other ideas I might try I'd appreciate it.
I can plug my road runner address into my iPhone and download mail that way,
but I prefer to do it with either OE or even with another e-mail client if
need be so I can download mail on my laptop because I'm not very adept at
doing things on my phone just yet.
