Re: Rainbow color identifier

I was aware of a lot of colors with vision, fuscia, hot
pink, dusty rose, mauve, to give you ideas in the pink
shades. My husband is good, since he was a graphic artist,
but Mountain Dew and some kind of kiwi - I give up.

Best regards,

Carolyn

Unless you have dealt with many color shades when and if you
were sighted, then it can be argued that one should be
careful not to purchase a color identifier that detects too
many color variations. This can become quite confusing and
end up causing the user problems.

I understand that the printing house has one that is quite
expensive that is more detailed and accurate than the
Colorino. I believe that the Colorino gives 100, and the
Rainbow gives 40.

Hopefully, you'll have better luck than I finding an app
that reliably detects colors. I have yet to find one that I
found to be satisfactory, not even close to any of the
hardware based detectors.

I did go to Google, not impressed by price, glad I have my
Colorinos, can live without one on my key ring. Who knows
what kind of phone I might end up with that might be able to
tell me colors, if I'm out shopping or something and want to
know a color.

Best regards,

Carolyn

Right, good old Google is my buddy - the reason I want it on
a phone.

I purchased mine directly from the manufacturer but I
believe most of the blindness related online stores offer it
as well. A google search should bring up the manufacturer
link for you. The device is about the size of a pager or
beeper if you remember what those were like.

It fits on your key ring? Where are these available?

Personally, it is my favorite color identifier because it is
so much smaller than some of the others and does a great job
for basic color identification.
If you need a wider range of colors then it might not be for
you but be prepared to spend a lot more for such a device
with a much larger footprint.
It does what I need with basic colors and lighter or darker
shades and it fits right on my key ring which is quite
convenient. HTH.

Best,

Rick Alfaro

Has anyone any experience with ethe Rainbow color
identifier?

it is carried by most of the blind equipment companies,
(maxi-aides, speak to me, Amazon.com, etc)

Wondering if it's worth the $100.00 price tag.

Thanks

Keith
