As soon as you convert your section of the song you want down to the length of the tone, you can simply change the extension from m4a to m4r and it works. You can actually change a tones m4r to m4a and play it with a media player that's got the codecs to play those types of files just fine.

I was told thet ringtones for the i-phone have a m4r file extention, but that it is actually just a m4a file renamed to m4r
