Well, I believe we're going to start your day off with some good news!  I found a website with a universal driver for your HP laser Jet 1012.  The website URL and download link are below.  There are both 32 & 64 bit drivers in the zipped folder so make sure your printer is either 32 or 64 bit.

The printer is an HP laser jet 1012 and the scanner is a Xerox 7600.

It would be great if there are updated drivers for them.
