Re: Info on a Kindle reader please

I hhate, really hate those kinds of voices, with their improper pauses in parts of sentences where pauses shouldn't occur, and their mis;pronunciation of more words than I consider good accuracy, and the odd and unusual inflections. I'm not saying others will agree, I'm saying that just because one person likes a certain speech doesn't mean someone else will. I really think the speech should be heard and by the person who will be using it as well before purchasing.

Sugar,

Kindles can definitely read out loud. The voices are from Ivona and are fairly human sounding and easy to understand. If she needs to use the built-in screen reader to browse for and read books there may be a bit of a learning curve if she isn't used to touch screen based screen readers.

I do not know that for sure, but I hear they do have text to speech.I would verify that with customer service before ordering however.

I think they can also enlarge and chage contrast to assist in low vision.

Yes, thanks Dave. I plan to do so

I just want to make sure she gets what she needs.

Will all kindle readers read to her?

Thanks so much

first thought for me was Amazon...give them a call and instead of shipping it to you have them ship it directly to her.

Subject: [TechTalk] Info on a Kindle reader please

Hi all

I’ve never had one of these Kindle readers, so a friend of mine is having trouble seeing and is needing something to read to her until she gets her cataract procedure but can’t have it done until this Coved clears up a bit.

She is in a home so it makes it difficult and she can’t use her lap top anymore

I am needing help in locating a Kindle reader that will read to her and does anyone know where I can purchase one for her?

Thanks so much.

Her birthday is coming up and I’d like to know where and how I can do this for her soon.

Thanks in advance,

Sugar
