Re: Listing the contents of a CD or DVD

To keep the CD / DVD from trying to start when you insert a disk, hold down the left shift key for around 20 seconds when closing the tray door.  The right shift key might work as well, but I've only use the left shift key.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.  Go dodgers!

Howard, I think you are looking for a way to disable autorun. If so, please refer to the following:

Press the Windows key or click the Windows icon in the lower-left corner of your desktop.
Type in autoplay and click on the AutoPlay Settings option.
From this screen, toggle AutoPlay For All Media And Devices to Off. Also switch AutoPlay defaults for removable drives and memory cards to Take No Action.

Shift key, simply pressing and holding as was already mentioned.

When I insert a disk into the CD/DVD drive, Windows 10 either runs an associated program or (if one exists on the disk) starts the install program.  I'd just like to open and read what's in the directory.  Is there a setting to change to make that happen.

Thanks, anyone.

Howard
