When I asked my question about putting chrome on the desktop, I followed
instructions to go to programs and find it. I did, but it would not give a
send to, or any ability to make a shortcut in any of the menus. I was
surprised. I thought I would at least find a "send to" when I pressed the
applications key and arrowed down. Pam.

In Windows 7, you can use send to to create a short cut to the folder. I
don't know if you can in Windows 10. You can make a shortcut to an entire
drive by using send to to make a shortcut to the drive when you are on the
drive letter in Windows 7. I want to open the drive on the root often
enough that I have a short cut on the desktop to which I've assigned a short
cut command. You can do the same to a file. I have one or two shortcuts to
the exe files of portable programs I want to open conveniently and I've
assigned short cut commands to one or two of those exe files.

It most certainly is. Provided that the items are shortcuts you can
assign a hotkey to open any folder or, for that matter, in any file that
you want.

Bear in mind that items on your desktop are not always going to be
arranged vertically and so just using up or down arrow won't guarantee
that you'll see all of the available items. Press the home key to move
to the first item and then press right arrow and you may find the other
items.

Pressing the Delete key should allow you to delete **most** items on
your desktop.

I would advise users to not have downloaded items go to your desktop.
You're free to do that, of course, but over time your desktop will
become extremely cluttered and it may become more difficult to locate
the downloaded item you want to find.

To open your downloads folder, press the Windows key to open the start menu.

Begin typing the word "downloads" without the quotes and you will likely
find the Downloads folder in the search results. In fact, the downloads
folder may well be the first item that you hear and, if this is the
case, press enter to open it.

What I do is to have a shortcut to the downloads folder on my desktop
and I also assign a shortcut key, such as control-alt-D, to open it.
That way I still have quick access to that folder without cluttering the
desktop. Let us know if you need the steps to do this and we'll be happy
to help.
