          Yes.  Thunderbird (and all modern e-mail clients, for that matter) relies on a large online database of server and port information it has compiled for specific email service providers, and automatically populates many of the things one used to have to enter by hand.  Generally all you'll have to enter is your email address, password, and what you'd like to have put ahead of your email address to identify you on email messages, e.g., J. Smith or Janet Smith or . . .
