One list is what I’ll call the main, in terms of size group for English speaking users.  While other groups have technically knowledgeable users, this is the group where you will have the most.

You can join by sending a blank e-mail to:

Hi Everyone,
I've attempted two times to install NVDA 2021.1 beta, but each time, I get a message saying instalation failed due to an error, please check the log viewer, and I then get a ok button. I press the ok button, and NVDA is still there because if I press the space bar NVDA says space, but that is as far as I can get with him.  Any ideas? Does anyone know of a NVDA group I can join?

Janet

Peace Be With You.

Having trouble accessing the NFB21 app

Sharon Hooley

Is anyone having trouble accessing NFB21? I'm trying to open the event, especially on my iPhone XR with IOS14.6. Either the text fields aren't showing, or when it does, it seems to give me the run-around. Sometimes I can get as far as entering a verification code, but, unless I'm missing or doing something wrong, it just stays with name and email address. I'm sure the address is the one I used to register to the NFB convention. What could be going wrong? I'd appreciate any input.

Thanks,

Hi, the show you want is called, Eyes on Success.

You can tell your device to play it. It will begin with the most recent show and each subsequent show will be the next previous to that one.

Good luck.

Sincerely, Vicky V

Re: Question about tunein radio settings and auto play.

Thank you so much. It really helps when you look in the right place. I wondered if there were some app settings somewhere in the app guess I should’ve looked further. Got it all done now though. Thank you. I was just looking in the settings on the phone and I went into the TuneIn settings. I guess I should’ve known better though.

Hi all,

Somehow, when it was late and I was tired, I somehow managed to change some setting on my computer so that when I download books from BARD, the list doesn’t show if the file is a .zip file. It makes figuring out which books are already extracted very confusing. Can anyone tell me the keystrokes to use in Windows 10 with JAWS to return these files to the way they were showing up?

Thanks much,

Re: how to restore the .zip in .zip files

Gene

I don't have Windows 10.  this article explains a number of ways  to do this, but I reproduce a way that doesn't involve things like working with the registry.  You may not find these instructions helpful, since they don't use keyboard commands, but if you know how to apply general descriptions to using the keyboard, you may be able to do this, depending on how good you are at applying visual instructions.

If you wait, others will likely send instructions that describe using the keyboard.  But if you don't want to wait, you may try these.

Show File Extensions in Windows 10
There are five ways how you can go about accessing this setting:
1. Through the File Explorer Options
2. Through Windows Explorer Ribbon
3. Using the Registry
4. Using Command Prompt
5. Using Group Policy Editor.
1] Through Folder or File Explorer Options
To Show File Extensions in Windows 10 via File Explorer Options, follow these steps:
1. Open Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization.
2. Now, click on Folder Options or File Explorer Option, as it is now called
3. Select the View tab.
4. In this tab, under Advanced Settings, you will see the option Hide extensions for known file types.
5. Uncheck this option
6. Click on Apply and OK.

Terrilynne, you need to unhide your file extensions.  I think it is under the personalize settings under folder options.  There are other ways to get to that setting.  When you find the option, I think y to get to that setting.  When you find the option, you check or unchedk it, I forget which.
