Re: Thunderbird Issue

Thank you all for your help. Gene, I should never had changed my
password with gmail.com if I knew it would screw up my email the way
it has. I have been having trouble with my account on Facebook and I
have been locked out three times in 3 weeks where I had to change my
password there. I'm getting fed up because I have no idea why they
keep locking me out. Facebook keeps telling me that they are seeing
suspicious activity and that's why I'm being locked out. Ron, I have
no speech when I go into account settings. After I turn off the
virtual cursor, how do I get it back on or does it automatically go
back on when I exit out of account settings? I will try again and
check the port number and insert the right on if it has been turned
off. Thanks for trying to help.

I had an Excel document that is password protected that I stored some important information and today when I opened the file the file is blank. I don't know how this could have happened.  And I don't guess there is a way to recover the information?

I usually do. It says scan and fix recommended, but since I don't think there is anything wrong, I choose run without scanning, or whatever the other choice is, and usually, it's fine. Pam.

Sometimes Windows does that for no good reason lol. You can go to the
drive properties and run an error scan just to be sure but truthfully
you can just ignore it most of the time.

Hi Shelly,

Can you access your account settings at all? If not, did you try turning off the virtual PC cursor in JAWS with insert + Z and then trying to navigate with up/down arrow keys in the tree view and/or tab and shift tab with the tab keys?  do you have the proper port settings for your account?
For incoming mail the port setting is 995 and for outgoing the port setting is 465.

for security the connection security is SSL/TLS     and authentication method is normal password.

If you cannot access these settings with JAWS you will need sighted help to set these ports and security settings correctly.

Well Mike,
This happens no matter what I plug into the speaker. A PC, a phone, whatever.
It simply stops audio if there is no audio to save battery life.
BT (since its BT 4.2 is really laggy and bad.
At least when I use a computer though, if I use silentaudio it should be better.
Won’t help with things that aren’t PCs though.

Here is the answer to what I was wondering about.  You can tell Silencio which sound card to work with.  Evidently, you can’t tell it to work with more than one device.

According to Jonathan Mosen:

This little app can be set to load at start-up and sends blank audio to your audio device. This keeps the device awake, and your screen reader will respond as you need it to.

You’ll find an icon in the system tray, allowing you to tell the app which audio device to send the blank audio to. It will use your Windows default device by default.

Re: Thunderbird Issue

I’m not sure how to solve your problem.  I can tell you how to avoid unnecessary problems of this sort in the first place.

Don’t make trouble and inconvenience for yourself for no reason.  there may be sites where changing a password over time may be advisable but I don’t know that.  If your password is adequate, that is strong as that is defined, and nothing has happened on a site, I don’t see why it should be changed.  As far as I know, Just having a password for a period of time doesn’t make it more dangerous.  Others may wish to comment.

In the case of GMail, you don’t need to worry unless your  password isn’t strong.  I doubt Google would have let you use one that isn’t strong.  I believe I was asked to change a very old password by Google years ago because it wasn’t strong.  I had set up my GMail account perhaps in the early 2000’s.  I would think Google wouldn’t have let you use a password that isn’t strong eight years ago.

Google informs you if someone has signed into your account using an unknown device and you can tell Google if it is you.  this notice is routinely sent out whenever this happens.  Google also sends out a notice even if someone tries to log into your account with an unknown device and fails.  There is no reason to change the password just because time passes and if someone unsuccessfully tries to log in and fails, though your password is likely not known, you may wish to change it to be safer.

Even when I sign into Gmail from an unknown location or using a device I haven’t signed in with before, Google notifies me and asks if it is me.

I hope you solve your problems soon.

When I leave the p c for a lengthof time, say an hour,  my Boes Revolve  speaker is indeed silencio.  Yes, it is a Bluetooth speaker,,  but I am using it with a standard audio cable. The cable is connected to the audio out jack of the onboard realtech audio.    So the Boes play all the windows sounds, plus any multimedia I play like music, books, and u-tube etc..

I am using nvda which comes through the line out of a little Sabrent u s b card.

Suggestions?

Hi Mike,

I installed silencio;  and it worked.

Cheers,

Mont

Hi List,

I need the current version of Silencio.

I looked on the web and  found a 4 year old version.

Does anyone have a link or perhaps some one can send me the file,  I’m sure it  is quite small.

Thanks,

Mont

As I said in an earlier message, my screen reader comes through a usb card.  All else goes through a boes revolve speaker,  if that speker does not get any imput after a while, it turns itself  off,  battery saving.

Silenzio is a small utility that will continuously play a WAV file which will not let your computer's soundcard sleep.

Hi Monte,

You need to tell your computer to show Silenzio in the Notification Area, steps below:
1. Windows key + I, for Settings, then tab 1 time to, System.

2. Navigate to, Personalization, press enter, then tab 1 time to get into the list of categories.

3. Down arrow to, Taskbar, press enter.

4. Tab several times to,Select which icons appear on the Taskbar link, press enter.

5. Tab through these icons, & press the spacebar to toggle or turn off / On.  If an item is checked it's, On, if it's unchecked it's, Off.

Well, I guess I do not know much, but I thought I had successfully installed silencio after telling micro soft to but out and let the install proceed. I definitely chose English in the silencio setup and pressed next and finish----I think.

Silencio is not showing up in the notification area.

When I choose the silencio icon on the desktop and select open,  I get a warning sayhing that only one instance of the program can run at the same time.

So how do I open this little beast  and choose the desired audio output?

It sounds like you're running the Bose Revolve through the default sound card, so do you know if Silenzio is assigned to the default soundcard, or can you assign Silenzio to run on a soundcard of your choosing?  I've never played around with Silenzio enough to know for myself.

Sometimes Windows does that for no good reason lol. You can go to the
drive properties and run an error scan just to be sure but truthfully
you can just ignore it most of the time.
