You should be able to press insert Plus the letter B as in Bravo and JAWS will read you that dialog. It usually means there are files Windows thinks are important, but usually are not. When I get this Dialog, it's usually a JPEG like a book or album cover that's been copied into a folder that Windows calls a system file even though I don't think pictures/images are system files. I just press alt plus Y and move on.

I=Otherwise, Explorer isn't that different from earlier versions of Windows.

Right, I hid them from the system tray, not removed them.

Oh by the way, you might have disable it from showing on the systemtray or notification tray but, it's still running.

My suggestion is, if you are not using it, just remove it through the add/remove program.

Yo Dog,

In NVDA when you're in Browse mode this is like using the virtual cursor or when forms mode is inactive with Jaws.

When in Focus mode in NVDA this is like using the PC cursor or when forms mode active with Jaws.

If using the command NVDA space works, go into browse mode settings, control NVDA b and tab to Enable browse mode on page load.  It’s a check box.  Check it with the space bar.  That will eliminate the problem.

The setting is on by default so you shouldn’t have the problem if you install or make portable copies in the future.

Re: what version of pontes media downloader works best with jaws?

Gene

I expect it is the same as with NVDA because of the ways accessibility is implemented in the program.  I won't go into that here but in one or two ways, accessibility is better in 2.x versions.  But you can use the download log, which you can look at while downloading to work around the download information you don't see.  That is the main difference between 2.x and 3.x, you see more download information in the program itself.  I am referring to information such as download speed and estimated completion time.

If you are going to download files in the MP3 format, the 3.x series has a major advantage.  You can set the bit rate for MP3 conversions.  In 2.x, the bit rate is set for something like 128KBPS, which is alright for listening with small headphones but which isn't at all satisfactory for those interested in good sounds.

If there are other differences that matter, I'll let others discuss them.

There is one more thing I should point out in terms of accessibility.  With NVDA, and I would think with JAWS, in the 3.x series, when  you press alt, to start moving through a menu, you have to down arrow twice.  I haven't tried up arrowing  immediately after opening a menu.  Also, the name of the menu is not read.  You can right arrow and left arrow to move from menu to menu but you won't hear the names announced.  I don't recall if you have to down arrow twice every time you move to a new menu to start moving.

I have heard of cards as large as 256 gig being used on the stream.
Cards larger than 32 gig must first be formatted to fat32 on your pc.
Then you can put the card in your stream, and push the menu button, that's
the 7 key, till you hear format. Then press the confirm key which is the
key below the 9 key and wait for the formatting to happen.

That's correct Carolyn; we did that for you.

Stay well,

Maybe, since I bought my 128 from Laz, he formatted it; I certainly did not.

I have heard of cards as large as 256 gig being used on the stream. Cards
larger than 32 gig must first be formatted to fat32 on your pc.
Then you can put the card in your stream, and push the menu button, that's
the 7 key, till you hear format. Then press the confirm key which is the
key below the 9 key and wait for the formatting to happen.

Did you have to format it in any way or does the Victor Stream automatically
do that?

Thanks!

I need to add some SD cards to my second gen Victor Stream. How large
a card can I use? How do I format the card for use with the Stream?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Peter

Press insert+space until you hear a beep. Also, I recommend you update NVDA.
