Hi. There are lots of different styles of desk top pcs. They have gotten much smaller. I have a lanovo think center that's no larger than a video tape. It has 16 gig of ram and a 1 TB solid state hard drive.

Hi troy,

What you are referring to may be called an "s s f" desktop, where s s f stands for "small form factor". These days, youcan get small towers that are about the same size as a s s f desktop. Also, you can put a tower on its side, or you can put a small form factor desktop on its side aoso. It doesn't matter as long as there is a little space beneath the units for air circulation. These days, computers come with s s d drives which run cooler and quieter than rotating hard drives. I have a s s f hp whichis about; 12 x 13 x 4 inches and a; Hp tower that is; 11 x 12 x 6. inches Personally, I would not by an "all-in-one" where the monitor and the computer are one piece. These units are limited when it comes to adding or changing components. If you are looking for something that is not brand new, Kevin on the blindads has some great deals which he posts about once a week. His units are usually very good deals interms of what you get for what you pay.

John, you are absolutely correct, the ARC channel is very important. Not sure if he could find one with the ARC unless he’s willing to spend a little more on it though.

Rick, you forgot to mention the Audio Return Channel (ARC) on the back of the TV which would probably be the best way to hook up a sound bar.
How much money are you willing to spend for a sound bar, Josh? Yes it is important to have your TV measured. You could probably fit the sound bar right under the TV. John

I don't recall the situation. Did you just switch to a new computer or reinstall or install a new operating system? Are you using a newly installed browser?
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
You may have to open the context menu and tell the browser you want to be shown images. I haven't done this enough to know what different browsers do. I worked with one browser where I had to decide something about describing images one time or in general. But I'll let others discuss the question in detail. Gene

If you are speaking of Picture Smart, when focused on an image, press the insert key, then space bar, then P, then Shift plus C then picture smart will read any text in the image. I use this for reading images of my mail in informed daily delivery, so I hope it is not going away.

Hi all, I'm asking on behalf of a sighted friend as I told her I'd do some searching. Her mom is 88 years old and she's fallen 4 times in the last 3 weeks, and my friend is worried that one of these times she's going to end up in the hospital. They live half a mile from each other, does anyone know of anything that could tell my friend when she's fallen? Other then this her mom is excellent so my friend doesn't want her to have to go into assisted living or something like that. Really hope someone has ideas; I know I've seen commercials for something that detects falls but I can't think of the name now. I want to help her out, but I thought I'd ask on hear before doing my own searching. Look forward to any suggestions anyone can provide me!!! Thanks Madison

Re: new 4k tv and sound bars question
Rick Alfaro
Josh, soundbar s come in many different configuration and they can vary in size in terms of width and height. I suggest you measure how many inches you have available under your TV and then make sure whatever soundbar you get will fit in your space. I would also at least go for a 2.1 soundbar if you want at least some bass in your TV sound. The sub soofe3r for a 2.1 system in most cases is separate and in many cases connects wirelessly to the main bar. If you standards and too Hight in terms of sound, you should be able to find a 2.1 system for under $100.
Regarding connectivity, most soundbars can connect via optical, or HDMI and some still have analog RCA connectors.
Warmest regards

Hi, I got a new 4k tv as a black Friday or early christmas present. It is a vizio tv with its own version of talkBack. I got sighted help setting it up but was disappointed to learn the sound from the tv speakers is a bit tinny and has almost no bass. The speakers are on the bottom of the tv and face down towards the table or stand. And this tv has no 3.5mm speaker or headphone jack on back of it. So I'll need a sound bar. I found a sound bar on amazon, its aivzio, for $70 or so. This tv sits up maybe 5 or 6 inches above the table there are legs on either end that hold it a good few inches above the table itseelf. So since I never had a sound bar can you describe them to me? Do they have separate speakers plus a bar or is it just the bar itself? And what connection do you plug them into the back of the tv to make them work? The one I'm looking at on amazon also has bluetooth to connect to phones and stuff to use as a bluetooth speaker. I can put up with the slightly tinny sound from the built in speakers for a few days but will be getting a sound bar asap since the dell speakers with their 3.5mm connector won't work with this tv and I already gave the dell speakers away to the person who helped me set the tv up. Talkback works ok on the tv but I'll mostly be using apple tv to stream stuff and sometimes watch tv with my xfinity broadcast channels package I have. I needed sighted help turning on talkback, there was no shortcut to turn it on at least not on vizio tvs.
