Hi.  I have some files I'd like to attach in an email. They are in my downloads folder.  Some are dox files and some are pdf files.  How do I move them from the downloads file to make them into an email attachment?  How big an attachment can I send with thunderbird in an email?  Thanks.

I just  found out something that is very useful.  There are some programs where, to get into the menus efficiently, holding alt and typing f works much better than just pressing alt.  That's the case with Pontes Media Downloader.  If I hold alt and type f, I can consistently get into menus where I am in the program in the main program window.

That was a problem in the recent version I downloaded because alt doesn't open the menus in a lot of fields I can tab to but holding alt and pressing f does in all fields.

I just checked and the settings you are discussing are in program options.  The monitor setting should be checked by default.  If you changed it, check to be sure you didn't uncheck it.  I'm not saying that to say you didn't set it correctly or that you don't pay attention.  I don't want to leave a possibility unaddressed that may be causing the problem.  Since the check box is checked by default and you say the addresses aren't placed in the edit field, that is something to be sure of.

Solved: Problem Deleting Gmail Contact

It turns out that contact maintenance is not possible unless and until the Contacts application in the "Google Apps" tab is opened. Once that's done, all kinds of interesting differences appear in the contacts list--namely, a checkbox appears next to each name so some actions can be performed in a group context, and there are edit, email, and more actions buttons next to each contact. The more actions button drops down a list of extra stuff that can be done with selected contacts, and one of those actions is, of course, Delete Contact. Selecting that option opens a confirmation dialog as one would expect, with the usual yes/no (OK/Cancel) options.

On my Windows 7 machine, I have annoyances with the program such as that I have to leave the window and return off and on to be able to move through it properly..  Also, the menus don't come up when you are in certain fields of the program.  But since it removes the slow downloads problem, I'm willing to put up with those annoyances.

I haven't tried the program on my Windows 10 machine so I don't know if the problems occur in Windows     10.

Also, it appears to me that when you upgrade, settings  you have changed will be lost.

Depends though. If you buy a midrange or especially a lower end processor, those go obsolete a whole lot faster. A really high end system likely will easily go 6-7 years. Like this Ryzen r7 4800H.

Those numbers don't mean anything on their own.  But that processor is slower than an i3 eighth gen.  But maybe look at average processors that are current and their scores.  I think my single score  for a fourth gen AMD was over 1500.  And the multicore was quite high too.

The newest version of Pontes Media Downloader eliminates the slow download problem

I don't know how long the new version of Pontes Media Downloader has been out.  I seldom use the program and don't keep up with when new versions are released.  However, because of the considerable interest in the program, I'm informing the list that the newest version eliminates the slow download problem.

On my Windows 7 machine, I have annoyances with the program such as that I have to leave the window and return off and on to be able to move through it properly..  Also, the menus don't come up when you are in certain fields of the program.  But since it removes the slow downloads problem, I'm willing to put up with those annoyances.

A Google search for  remove member from Gmail  group, shows the following as a web snippet:

To remove members from a group that you manage:
