Re: Incoming call rings on two different phones

Carolyn Arnold

When I got my Haven activated, I was prepared to pay the $20 activation fee. I wanted to just keep the same number for the iPhone and the Haven, but they said it would cost less to move my number with the Haven activation and give my husband a separate number for the iPhone 4s; so that is what we did. The good thing about that, of course, is that we can call one another on the cell phones when needed or wanted.

Bye for now,

Carolyn

I asked her to call me after I had ended the current call so I could check something else and she did so but when she did call back, both my phones rung despite both phones having completely different numbers. My friend said it happens with her iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 also. Does anybody know why this should be? My friend reckons it is because they both have the same apple account but that shouldn't mean a call made to one phone will also be routed to the second. I can see privacy issues with this problem. In my particular case, there is no privacy issue because I live on my own but in situations where there are other family members then it might be a problem. Also my friend said if I send her a text then that text will also appear on her second phone (I haven't found that to be the case personally). If I have one phone and a family member had another phone, different number but sharing the same apple account then a personal call or text that is sent to me could be easily answered or read by the other family member. Do you think it is the fact that both phones are tied to the same Apple ID? Should this really be happening, after all, if somebody hacked your apple ID and was able to assign another phone to that ID then everything coming in would go to the phone they have also. Walter.

taking test

Pablo Morales

Hi all,

I have a little concern about how I will do to take a math test. To be register in a university, I need to take a math test. My concern is that when I went to the school, I was sighted. When I was sighted and I had to resolve trigonometric problems, polynomials with fractions, or complex things, I always has to use paper to resolve the math problem.

Being blind, how I should work when is very difficult to read a formula, very difficult to make the teachers understand the situation, and at the same time, resolve the problem?

I am totally blind, and I  have a few years being blind. I lost my sight after I finished the university, so I have no idea about how study being blind.

Guys, What methodology or way do you use to work with math being blind?

Thanks

I am also looking for an accessible home security system!  I went to an apartment complex and they had talking systems it would tell you door open and wich door it was!  ANd the windwos do the same! And it would remind you to close the window too after a while!  I do not know if it was on a set timer or waht!  But they did not know which system they were using!  It was a wireless system too!  Heather

Hello list,

So I’m sure this topic has come up before, but I don’t recall what the feedback was.

In any event, I’m considering getting some sort of home security system and was curious to know what other blind folks are using. Be it motion sensors and or cameras and so on.

I was looking into just getting a front door type of camera set up, but was thinking of perhaps just going all in and getting the whole thing and not just a camera for the one door.

I’m leaning toward Simply Safe www.simplysafe.com

As there are no contracts involved and none of that hard wiring that is necessary for a more traditional set up. But checking their site, it doesn’t seem like they’ve got many if any camera options.

I know I can also run down to my local Costco or other store like that for security cameras, but again, accessible or at least accessible by me to some extent would be ideal. Be it via an iOS app or other computer means. I know I can always rely on my sighted wife if need be, but I’d still like to be able on some level access what I need to when I need to.

I’m especially interested in something that also includes a front door camera and intercom. There have been more and more daytime burglaries in my surrounding neighborhoods so answering the door in a more safe manner would be nice. The wife and I are fortunate in that we run our businesses from home, so it’s not like the place looks abandoned during the day, but still. I’m not too keen on blindly opening the door per say when someone knocks. The same for having my wife just answering the door.

Anyway, I have to believe that people on these lists have some kind of set up so I thought I’d ask.

Mainly though, I’m not looking for contracts and heavy wiring and installations. Even if it’s just cameras, that’s fine. Just something  that can be reasonably accessed.

Thanks,

Cristobal

Re: about the work around for web vissum

Carlos

The setting was first added in Firefox 43 so ESR version43 should be the first version in which you see it as well. Just keep in mind that apparently ESR will also be removing this setting in March and at that point it will no longer run unsigned add-ons either.

Re: setting up Itunes to use with my iPhone

Jeremy <icu8it2@...>

Yeah, that's for sure. At least when I'm adding credits to my apple account from something like a giftcard, things are much simpler from the app on the phone, rather than trying to tinker with Itunes on my Windows, certainly.

Then again, I also recall that when I set up my initial payment information way back when, I had this strange issue in where it acted like it would never accept my information that I'd entered in the page there. It just kind of refreshed and had me thinking that the information hadn't been entered correctly, but never really provided any error otherwise. It was until I got a notification from my bank that apple had tried to verify my account information several times and that my bank was about to place a temporary hold on access to my account. This was using the application on windows.
It was that, along with it being more convenient that lead me to finally changing things over to using paypal as well.

Re: ISO online stores that carry laptop computer bags

Try office depo or staples or office max . But don’t know if that will help with how fast your computer can browse.

Something like a laptop bag you almost want to put your hands on it.

You could get her a gift certificate to like office depo or Staples or Walmart or even Amazon gift card and then let her pick it out especially if she is sited. JST

Re: setting up ITunes to use with my iPhone

Yes I usually buy things on the iPhone. But this being said you still need iTunes from time to time. I don't know why the box is popping up to down load iTunes other than you are not running the latest version of iTunes. So I would check my iTunes and see if there is a update for it. So go to help and check for updates and see if there is some updates you don't have yet
Also you can create your apple ID and such from the web as well just follow this link below I think it will be easier to do it from there than from iTunes.

Re: Firefox do I need an earlier version?

Matt

Well, it works with 17 but not perfect by no means. The tools and option
part I could never make head or tails with jaws other than just the general
option under tools and options. Don't know if I was doing something wrong or
not ended up using NVDA and it worked perfectly with it. So was using jaws
17 latest version and Firefox V43 and it not doing the greatest and ended up
with latest version of NVDA and latest version of Firefox and they worked
perfectly together.
So my recommendation would be to use the latest version of Firefox and the
latest version of NVDA. JST!

Hi all,

Using Win7 and Jaws15. I thought it would make a change from using Windows
explorer if I used Firefox as it's been a long time since I last used it .
However I downloaded and installed Version 43 only to find I could not
access any of the tools with Jaws or NCDA, all I had access to was the
Google search box.

What version of Firefox should I be using?

Of course as I said above I've already done that and it's installed but I don't see a way to get past that page. There's no continue button there, and the only other thing I knew to try was an alt-f4 to close it, but that takes me back to the page where I verify my payment source again. Can anybody tell me how I can either get past that download page, or bypass it completely so it doesn't pop up so I can continue setting things up?
Thanks.
Troy
