If you place the key where it should be and push, does the key move and work as it should?

Re: Identifying jaws serial number

Hi Nancy,

you may press Insert+control+V to get to know the version nuber &
other information for JAWS. Pressing this keystroke in a quick
succession will put this information in a virtual viewer wherein you
may be able to read all this infomation with standard reading
commands. You may even copy all of this to the clipboard to paste in
another app or file. Alternatively, pressing Alt+H followed by the
letter A to get this information.

Wishes,

Bharat.

It depends what your laptop have what kind of port
You can search on amazon like
usb a to ethernet
or usb c to ethernet.

personally, I will get a usb C to hub which comes with multiple ports, like vga, multiple port like usb a and ethernet port etc. just more cost effective.

Hi Ron,

When I follow the link, it says out of stock.
Restocking date unknown

Yes, 20 screen size is lots, most laptops theses day are 14 inch.

A more important feature is the screen resolution.
Even when I was a low vision user, I had only a 21 inch monitor. It is sitting on my desk, but I turnit on only when a sighted person needs to see something.

Type 'n speak

david

Good afternoon to all;

Is it possible to put the current date into the type ‘n  speak?

It seems the unit only goes up to December 31 2020.

When I go into option, alt+o, or f9,

Then press SD=set date, mmddyy I type 062322 it doesn’t except it.

Perhaps there’s a trick to get the device to except the today’s date?

Re: win10 sleeping

Hi I'm running windows 10 home here and the following worked for me to disable the windows lock screen.
These work, I just changed the wording a little.
I made the steps a little more screen reader friendly.
How to disable the windows lock screen at start up.
How to change Windows 10 lock screen settings.
If you'd like to take a simpler route without messing with the Registry, then open File Explorer and navigate to your Windows directory.
The file folder we are looking for will generally follow this path:
C:\Windows\SystemApps
As you can see this file folder contains a large number of system folders. We want to concentrate our efforts on the folder labeled: Microsoft.LockApp_cw5n1h2txyewy.
Once you find the Microsoft.LockApp_cw5n1h2txyewy folder, right-click on it and select the Rename function from the context menu. Just in case we want to enable the lock screen again, we don't want to change the name of the folder too much, so just add ".disabled" without the quotes to the end of the current folder nameThe system will ask for confirmation. When complete, it should look like this:
Microsoft.LockApp_cw5n1h2txyewy.disabled
Steps using screen reader.

1, Windows-key+r=run.
2, Type the following and press enter: C:\Windows\SystemApps
3, Press the Letter "M" a few times until you hear/see: Microsoft.LockApp_cw5n1h2txyewy
4, Press the applications key, or press shift+f10 and up or down-arrow enter on "rename".
5, press the end-key to get to the end of the line and add the ".disable" without the quotes and press enter.
You will then hear "user account control" do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device? Yes? no?
Select yes and press enter.

JAWS2022 June Update, Build J2022.2206.9, Download Link + What's New

-Mike B

Below is the direct download link + what's new in the June Jaws2022.2206.9 update.

32 and 64 Bit Download Link:

Enhancements in JAWS 2022.2206.9 (June 2022)

The following is a list of improvements made between the April 2022 release and the June 2022 update.

Notification History

In JAWS 2021, we introduced a keystroke for quickly announcing the most recent notification. However, due to the sheer volume of notifications that can
potentially be received on a daily basis depending on the applications in use, there was no easy way to review prior notifications you may have missed.

JAWS and Fusion 2022 now allows you to display a history of recently received notifications and gives you more control over which notifications you hear
or whether they are displayed in braille. For example, you may want JAWS to announce notifications from an application only if they include specific text,
or play a sound instead of interrupting you with a spoken message. You can even choose to exclude specific notifications from appearing in the recent notifications
list. For instance, there may be certain repetitive messages you may want to hear, such as notifications from Edge confirming the loading status of a page,
but you may not want these messages cluttering up your history.

To open the Notification History dialog box, press INSERT+SPACEBAR, followed by N. This feature can also be accessed from the Utilities menu in the JAWS
main window, or through the Run JAWS Manager dialog box (INSERT+F2). Once open, focus is placed in a list containing notifications received from Windows
and applications during the past 24 hours, as long as JAWS or Fusion was running. Use the ARROW keys to navigate and review items in the list. Pressing
the APPLICATIONS key on the selected notification opens a context menu where you can choose to create a rule to customize how it is spoken or shown in
braille , or don't show the selected notification at all in the history. When you are finished reviewing notifications, press ESC to close the Notification
History.

You can also access the Notification History using the Voice Assistant by saying "Hey Sharky, Notification History," or "Hey Sharky, Notifications."

If you only want to hear the most recent notification without opening a dialog box, press INSERT+SPACEBAR, followed by SHIFT+N.

For more details on creating and managing your own notification rules, refer to the Notification History topic in the JAWS Help.

Other Changes
list of 19 items
• You can now say "Hey Sharky, Say Version" or "Hey Sharky, What Version," to get the version of the current application. This is the same as pressing
CTRL+INSERT+V.
• Addressed reported issues where JAWS was not working reliably with iTunes.
• Resolved a reported issue where a script load error was displayed when attempting to open the Math Viewer or Math Editor to view or edit an equation.
• When activating a button on a web page that opens a modal dialog, such as a calendar, resolved an issue where JAWS was reading the entire contents of
the dialog all at once as soon as it gained focus.
• Added a new Quick Settings option, Indicate text inside INS and DEL Elements, which is on by default. When enabled, JAWS or Fusion indicates inserted
or deleted text on web pages as you navigate with the Virtual Cursor.
• In addition to web browsers, JAWS and Fusion now announce live region updates in all applications where they are supported. In situations where you need
to turn off these announcements, open Settings Center and search for "Announce live region updates." This option can be configured for all applications,
or for a specific app or website domain.
• If Forms Mode is set to Manual, addressed a reported issue where Forms Mode was turning off automatically instead of remaining active when moving away
from edit fields.
• Resolved issues navigating tables on web pages containing multiple header rows.
• Added Keyboard Help (INSERT+1) for the commands to move to a prior heading level (SHIFT+1 through 6).
• When using the mouse to visually select text in Outlook messages while running JAWS or Fusion, resolved an issue where pressing CTRL+C was not copying
the selected text to the Clipboard as expected unless text was selected using the keyboard.
• Resolved a reported issue in Outlook where JAWS was saying "read only edit" when opening a message. You now only hear "read only edit" if the Messages
Automatically Read Quick Settings option is turned off, so you know when you move in to the message.
• When typing in the body of a new message in Outlook and you type the @ symbol followed by part of a user's name to open the @Mentions menu, JAWS now
reads the position and total number of names in the list of suggestions.
• After using the JAWS Math Editor to insert an equation in to a Word document, addressed a reported issue where the application window was no longer maximized.
• When inserting a text box into a Word document, addressed an issue where JAWS was not displaying descriptions of the different text box types in braille.
• In response to customer feedback, the INSERT+C command is now available in the Office 365 spell checker to read the current spelling error in context.
• Addressed an issue with the Playback tab of the Change System Sounds dialog box where JAWS was not correctly reading the list of devices.
• Resolved an issue with Thorian Reader, an app for reading ePub books, where JAWS was not able to focus on descriptions of images when selecting the link
to view the description.
• Resolved an issue where the feature to help Avoid speech cut off when using Bluetooth headphones or some sound cards, accessed from Setting Center, was
not working as expected over a remote Citrix connection.
• Resolved a reported issue with navigating ribbon controls in a specific application used by several customers in France.
list end

On the message itself, for you to change the account you are sending from, hit alt - m. that will trigger the from button on the message pane. your window must be maximized or a certain size to see that from button.

when you are done with the message, hit alt - s, that will trigger the send action. n that button as what i mentioned earlier

to trigger the send action or you have multiple unsend messages in your outbox, in the main outlook window, hit the follow key.
alt - j a

to trigger send and receive in outlook, both send and receive action, do hit ctrl - m

to see the send and receive progress, hit alt - j p

If messages are stuck in the outbox in e-mail programs I've used, the program asks if you want to send them at some point, or if you issue a general send/receive command, it will send them if it can.

Thunderbird asks if you want to send unsent messages when you open the program. Outlook likely does something like that but whether it does or not, it very likely would send them when you issue a send/receive command.

Does Outlook have a send later command that you might accidentally be executing when you mean to execute a send command? Thunderbird has a send later command, control shift enter. the send immediately command is control enter. At some point, those using the keyboard are likely to accidentally issue control shift enter instead of enter.

Not using Outlook, I'm asking questions and raising possibilities that may be useful.

There are problems. I am not using Gmail; yet it is imposing on Windstream.

You can't send them anyway as they are. You can do the following:
/copy the message body of a message in the outbox to the clipboard. Then, using your other account, create a message to whomever it is intended, paste the message body in, and send it from the other account.

If there are problems doing that, let us know and people will likely discuss how to get around them.

I have your instructions saved, but right now, no one who knows what to do.

If I deleted the emails, I'd lose them.

I have tried moving them from Outboox to another mailbox, then going in and sending again; that does not usually work.

To stop the problem, find the outbox and delete all messages in it. Then send mail only from your other address. Don't even bother entering your password. Just close the dialog with escape and use your other e-mail provider until you resolve the problem.

Do you know someone who can follow instructions such as I wrote? Even if the person doesn't understand why these things are done, if someone knows how to work with web sites in terms of working with forms, they can do what is needed.

Or, you can use the Windows Mail app for now. You don't need an application specific password for it.

It does have the Send later, when I exit. The work around I am finding is Windows M to get out of Outlook without closing it, then Alt+Tab back in.

All of this is connected with the Gmail that keeps wanting my password, which I give, but it does not take, so it now is imposing on myh Windstream boxes.

I did call a computer man last week, but they were moving into their new store, plus they mainly do commercial. I am trying to cripple until I move around the first of August, when I will have to get some help.

Well Mack, I did the rename as you suggested and it still happens.
