You  could always look into the Odin phone. It’s supposed to be completely blind accessible.

I think it runs on the T-Mobile network.

There are phones you can buy from T Mobile that have buttons.  I have one.  I don't know how many of them are accessible, but mine is.

I am not recommending my phone, but if you want to hear a demonstration of my phone to get an idea of what features you might find and how they might function, you can download my demonstration.  I did it for Accessible World.

There is another presentation by someone else in the same file but mine is there.

Hi!  I may have to replace my cellphone.  I am on TMobile.  I do not want to get an iPhone or an android phone.  Is there any phone I could get that has buttons and that would work with TMobile?  A friend of mine said she went to a TMobile store, and all she could find were flat screen phones.  I hope somebody has some ideas.  Thanks.  Pam.

Free Football Radio Oddity With Firefox; Was I Hacked?

Ron Canazzi

Hi Group,

The strangest thing is happening with my Firefox Browser and Free Football Radio. As mentioned on occasion in the past, I also use an old text based browser called Lynx from the old UNIX days. It was ported to Windows about 17 years ago, but not much more development on it has been done. Still, it works for most sites--with significant limitations on such things as JAVA and scripting of various types.

For laughs and giggles, I tried accessing the Free football Radio site with Lynx; http://www.freefootballradio.com. It loads perfectly. Of course, you can't really listen to radio there, but the page with all it's links and format is there. Yet immediately after I loaded the site into Lynx, I tried again in Firefox and it did not work. I keep getting this pow web server site.

I then tried with Internet Explorer and what do you know? It works with Internet Explorer.

So again, was I hacked? What could cause Firefox to be constantly redirected to this Pow Web? Could clearing some cookies or something solve the issues?

That iDevices list does not have a direct subscription address as far as I

Try turning the virtual pc cursor off with insert z.  Then tab to the combo box.  If the page is too large to tab to the combo box conveniently, I'll tell you a more convenient way to find it in another message.  If you can reasonably tab to it for this test, do so and let us know if you can work in it.

You can turn forms mode on again with the same command, insert z.

Is the problem that you are constantly taken out of forms mode or equivalent when the page refreshes?  Are you taken to the top of the page and out of the combo box?  I don't recall if you said which screen-reader you are using.  You may be able to stop the screen-reader from leaving forms mode or equivalent when the page refreshes and thus solve the problem.

First you activate Forms Mode on the combo box by pressing the Spacebar or enter.
Now the secret is to press Alt + Down Arrow to open the list of options.
Actually, it looks like a drop down list.  It is now safe to Arrow Up and
Down through the list without the page refreshing.  Pressing Alt + Up Arrow
will close the list of options and only show the selected item.  On pages
that automatically refresh, it will happen at this point.

Just to add one more little thing. Sometimes when you get into those

Are you opening combo boxes with control down arrow before moving in them?  I'm not saying that will address all the problems you are discussing, but when you down arrow and are moved to another page, that is commonly caused by not issuing the control down arrow command before attempting to move.  The sequence is control down arrow, then move in the combo box, then press enter on the item you want to activate or select.

I don't know what you already know, so I'm providing information in case it is useful.

Some drop down boxes, depending on how the site has been programmed or written, just don’t work with screen readers, or, at least, with JAWS, which is what I use. Some don’t speak the list, but if I tab forward and then backward, it will tell me what I am on. Some actually kick me out of the box so that I don’t have to tab before back tabbing. I have even had the experience of arrowing down once and having the web page move forward to the next page associated with that choice.

You didn't say which screen-reader you are using.  I can make suggestions but the suggestions might be better if I knew the screen-reader being used.trying another screen-reader may help.  If not, it may be a case of inaccessibility.  Also, can this page be used without logging in?  If so, it is important to give the link so people can try using the page and try different solutions.

Using internet explorer 11, firefox or chrome, I go to different websites where the drop down box was not work properly.  In those drop down boxes, when I press alt-down arrow, I should be able to see the list of banks that I can use however, none of those banks show up unless I turn off my speech programs such as: system access or NVDA.  I discovered this phenomena having a sighted person also looking at the screen.  By using the mouse this person is able to select the proper bank that I want to use however, when turning the speech program back on, the sighted person can still see the list of banks however, he indicated that he too cannot select the list of banks.  How can I remedy this problem? thanks for your help in advance.

Sorry that was incomplete.
You can use online-convert.com and conversion-tool.com but you can
only trim the beginning and/or ending. You will need a PC program if
you want to take out something in the middle. Sorry I don't know of
any such programs.

Yep thanks Rajmund. Figured that one out.

That iDevices list does not have a direct subscription address as far as I can tell. Now hopefully someone can provide subscription and posting information for the most popular of the Window Eyes mailing lists.

Are your SIRI settings OK? If so, try turning it off and on? Note: this will clear your personalised data.

Hi,
Over the passed 3 or 4 days, whenever I would ask Siri to do something, for example, call someone, she won't do it. Instead she'll say something like, "Uh Oh, I cannot make your phone call." or something similar. It even happened, when I tried to facetime a friend.
How can I fix this?
Thanks,
Jessica

Re: The drop down box

Gene

Try turning browse mode off in NVDA then see if you can work with the combo box.  I don't recall if NVDA automatically turns browse mode off when you move to a combo box.

Try this:
First, move to the combo box.
If forms mode is off, turn it on with enter.  You are turning off browse mode and you will hear something like browse mode off if you go into forms mode.  You will hear something like browse off if you are placed in forms mode when using this command.  and if that doesn't work, use insert space bar.  That's the desktop command to turn off browse mode.  See what is announced.  if it turns off, see if you can work with the combo box.  You can turn browse mode on again with the same command, insert space bar.

No not a direct link only looking them up and joining them thru the google group site. Which is a hassle.

Well, finally had a place to use Rumola at and used it with IE with the bookmark version. It worked like a charm. I just went down to the capture box and click in it and then did Alt A and then F twice in my case and it took me to my favorites bar and I click on Rumola and it put the text in the box. Now it did not tell me it had put the text in the box so I had to use the arrow keys to read the text in the box. Once I knew it was there then I clicked finish in my case. And it took me to what I needed.

So Now I can recommend this to any one that it is worth every penny especially if you want to use IE.
