Re: New developments on Blindtech

Hi Group,

With all due respect, I must agree with Carlos. Without beating up on Michael Capell too harshly, I have been a member of Blind Tech for over a decade and when he took over several years ago, he has seemed to go through periods of tolerance, compassion and good leadership. Then for a while, he will back off and claims issues with health. While this is not his fault (the health issues) it does seem to lead to significant instability as to rules and direction from time to time. I sincerely hope Michael gets over his health issues and I sincerely hope the Blind
Tech list (which I am still a member of) continues, but I do hope that Carlos continues this list as well.

As I mentioned on the Blind Tech list, all I do is to create filters and group by conversation and I'm good to go. I already am subscribed to 17 lists--6 of which are high traffic: what's another 1 <g>.

You, Carlos, or others who may have left Blindtech may want to reconsider. Michael Capell has gotten the list back and has sent out an announcement indicating that there will be very few rules and that rules will be greatly relaxed. The very brief owners are no longer either owners or moderators.

Hello:

I signed up here, because I think carlos is the coolest thing since slice bread.

Anyways, apparently, I'm still having trouble accessing my c drive an any other external drives when plugging them into my laptop running windows 10.

My daughter says, when I tell her, for example, I'm trying to locate my passport, which is the name of my 1tb external hd, she clicks on the mouse and then jaws says this pc, so how can I get to this pc via the keyboard? This pc is in the file explorer which use to show my c drive, dvd drive etc, but it's not showing any of that.

I wonder which solution would work best with boot camping a Mac Book. I thought of buying one of the used ones going around the lists that very well could've sold, as it is a good price. I don't know for sure if I could get the hard drive upgraded beyond 80 gb, and get either Lion or Mountain Lion back on it, since my current one started having its keyboard trouble with Snow Leopard on it, but it could be a good boot camp machine that shouldn't give crackling audio or JFW activation issues on most reboots like a Dell I tried.

Levtec's Winstaller is another option where you can do a different take on an unattended install, or get through the first part of the setup process with NVDA in the image. It isn't a free program, so I'd probably be inclined to try with the PE images unless one needed some audio driver or other thing Levtec has that the PE ones don't.

Sorry, I missed part of your question. It can be installed without sight, but the two common methods may not necessarily be intuitive for all users. It can be done with either an unattended script or by using something like my Win7PE images.

You may think such things are amusing but they can damage a list and can significantly harm a list if it looses valuable contributors as well as general members who might ask good questions and learn from what others post.

Hi Christina,
First, I have never really been involved, but I do read things. I have never moderated, either. In fact,  just for Gene, I actually use about:blank as my home page. Unless you tell the list that that is even possible, I would never know. So I do gain knowledge. But, when, people are  treated unfair, or are bossed around for no reason, the treatment goes both ways. I liked the fact that the admins have stayed behind. But the freetech guy, the list being moved 4 times (that I know of) and giving no reason for things when you ask, I don't like. Like, Carlos being banned? What for? Then, get the list back a day later, rather than explaining themselves, just where are we? That's why I put things the way I do. Drama, that, that always entertained me. Those who were around the FreTech guy's time, will know that I was on the floor, laughing and screaming. And then I joined in, the guy never replied to me. Was pretty funny. And the traffic I produced? OK, OK, I really should take thi!
s off list. So if you would like me to go into more detail, please ask, and I'll tell you more off list.

Re: New developments on Blindtech

MamaPeach <mamapeach67@...>

And to me, that is no way to run a list either. He is now back again. He is either moving the list or stepping down and then immediately returning. If you keep this list going, I will be leaving that one. I want a list where I know who is running it and how he expects the list to run and how the members should behave. With Blind-Tech, the members are kept in the dark most of the time.

Thanks MamaPeach,
For now I plan on maintaining this list to see how it works out because what
it really comes down to is that there's only so much nonsense and poor
judgment that I'm willing to put up with. This latest may have been the
final straw, but before this it was the Free Tech drama. About two or three
years ago he decided to step down as list owner and like this time, it
lasted about a day before he changed his mind.

I think Carlos should also keep this list. After watching the way Michael handles threads, he will start a thread and as long as people are agreeable with him on that thread, the thread can continue, but when people start disagreeing with him, he demands that the thread stop. I know he is the owner, but he also does things on his lists that he does not allow others to do, and in my opinion, that is wrong. An owner should abide by the same rules as everyone else.

Carlos

Thanks MamaPeach,
For now I plan on maintaining this list to see how it works out because what it really comes down to is that there's only so much nonsense and poor judgment that I'm willing to put up with. This latest may have been the final straw, but before this it was the Free Tech drama. About two or three years ago he decided to step down as list owner and like this time, it lasted about a day before he changed his mind.

Brent Harding

Levtec's Winstaller is another option where you can do a different take on an unattended install, or get through the first part of the setup process with NVDA in the image. It isn't a free program, so I'd probably be inclined to try with the PE images unless one needed some audio driver or other thing Levtec has that the PE ones don't.

Sorry, I missed part of your question. It can be installed without sight, but the two common methods may not necessarily be intuitive for all users. It can be done with either an unattended script or by using something like my Win7PE images.

still having problems with my virtual machines

Mohamed

Hi guys, I'm still having trouble and haven't gotten much from anyone, so I'm asking here. Some of you may know the issue I had with virtual machines being unable to connect to the internet. I've searched online, and the stuff I have found usually is for windows 7. Although the network troubleshooter seems to say that the VMware adapter can't get an IP address. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling VMware, no joy. What could be done to fix this?
Thanks.

I read your message carefully.  I didn't say anything about Carlos closing down this list.  Please read the message I sent on this subject carefully.  I did not say Carlos should close this list.  All I said is that since the new temporary owners are gone, people who left the old list may want to join it again.  I didn't say anything at all about this list or its future.  I am simply saying that people may want to join Blindtech again and nothing else.

Re: New developments on Blindtech

Hi,
LOL, I already suggested that he should join BlindTech, now that Carlos isn't there, especially, and just for entertainment, watch what the new admins and Mike would do. LOL, I'm mean, I know.

Lets hope that Joseph the Free Tech Guy doesn't decide to join this list or
else the sparks will really start flying. LOL!

Hello,
Kind of the same here, actually. Carlos always helped when I asked, and I
can only return it, whenever I can.

Carlos,
I agree with you even though I have only been a member for a short time
and I haven't experienced some of the things you mentioned in this email
but I didn't like it when they were rude to you because between you and a
few other regular members that offer your help regularly and are very
educated and helpful it seemed like you and a few others should have done
this a long time ago. I will follow you wherever you go and I mean that in
a good way I am not a stalker I just like what you do and how you do it.
Christina

With all due respect, Michael seems to go through one of these phases
about every few months. And this is not the first time he has given the
list away and then taken control back within a day. The fact is that his
new co-list owner was rude to me in private messages and when I commented
on this fact, he immediately went on the defensive and was quite rude
himself. And when I defended myself and responded to her rudeness, she
immediately banned me from the list so no thanks.

You, Carlos, or others who may have left Blindtech may want to reconsider.
Michael Capell has gotten the list back and has sent out an announcement
indicating that there will be very few rules and that rules will be
greatly relaxed. The very brief owners are no longer either owners or
moderators.

Hello Kimsan,
On behalf of myself and slice bread, I thank you. Welcome to the list and
I'm glad to hear you worked out your problem.

Lol, I hate when I do that...?
I always post a question and then right when I send it, I figure out my
own problem. However, with it being 4 in the morning now, I have no idea
how I got there... I was just tabbing and down arrowing and poof there it
was lol.

But, I couldn't figure this out ever since getting windows 10 which is a
few weeks now.
So, since my brain isn't functioning right now, lets just forget this
email ever came through...

Hello:
I signed up here, because I think carlos is the coolest thing since slice
bread.

Anyways, apparently, I'm still having trouble accessing my c drive an any
other external drives when plugging them into my laptop running windows
10.
My daughter says, when I tell her, for example, I'm trying to locate my
passport, which is the name of my 1tb external hd, she clicks on the mouse
and then jaws says this pc, so how can I get to this pc via the
keyboardThis pc is in the file explorer which use to show my c drive, dvd
drive etc, but it's not showing any of that.
