Hello Heather,
What version of Windows were you running on your desktop?  Outlook Express does not include a spellchecker by default and the version for Windows 7 and later can be flakey in general so I have stopped recommending it.  You may be better off using another client like Windows Live Mail or Thunderbird.  There is a version of Windows Live Mail without ribbons.

Broken Or Recovered Email From Google Support

Mike B <mb69mach1@...>

Hi All,

I keep getting email that goes into the Junk folder of my IMAP account from several people claiming to be from Google Support.  The emails all claim to have found broken or recovered email & want me to click on a link to get them or click on a different link if I would like to quit their service.  Well, I'm not going to click on any links within these emails & my question is, do any other list members get these types of emails?  Below are 4 different email adresses & their info that I've copied from the various emails, From fields.

Users Support <detractionr9007@...>

Google <giiunited@...>
Below are a couple lines of text I've copied out of a couple of these emails:

2 Broken message has been restored and re-sent to you.

2 broken messages has been found and recovered.

Is there any way to stop this kind of spam all together?  All input would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks much.

UPS has terrible service. Twice, not once, but twice, they brought my Optacons to my old address. Fortunately, my husband and I met in that neighborhood, new right where to go, but once we had to leave word with the neighbor why we just went up there and picked up a package, and the second time, we were able to reach the current resident on the phone, and get it from him. Richard had to do all kind of things to get my current address fixed with UPS, and I've lived here for nearly seven years.

I've had that, usually with UPS. But they usually leave some kind of a
paper that says attempted delivery. And I was there all day, right in the
livingroom, staying there so I could hear the doorbell. One of the times, a
person rang my doorbell and told me there was a package in front of my door.
I asked her when it had come and she said some time that morning, and it was

Yep, I've had packages which were completely lost in the system as well. A
couple of times even when they claimed it had been delivered. I've also
experienced packages simply being left out in the hall. Or claims of
attempted deliveries which I know for a fact never took place. Granted,
those experiences are not necessarily frequent, but frequent enough that
there is definitely at least some laziness and incompetence involved if
nothing else.

Absolutely not true. The USPS is so incompetent and inefficient that I
often do not get updated tracking infornation until after my shipment has
been delivered. Last year, they managed to lose two fairly large packages
that had been shipped by Amazon which just vanished without a trace
somewhere in their system, never to be seen again. In both cases, Amazon
refunded the cost of the orders.

packages directly to your door, even if you have paid a pretty penny out
of your own pocket for delivery. Instead, their drivers now usually
leave packages with the super or building manager in the basement or
other central location. The problem with this new policy is that if the
super isn’t around to sign for delivery or place the packages in a secure
location, the driver will simply leave them outside his door where anyone
can walk by and steal them. I have complained numerous times to UPS
customer service about this practice, but to no avail. Whenever I order
stuff that is delivered by UPS or Fedex or the USPS, the driver now
always leaves the package with my super. But if he is not around to sign
for delivery, the driver just leaves the package outside his door where
anyone can walk by and take it for themselves. Fortunately, I have not

this lackadaisical attitude on the part of these delivery carriers.

I don't see how Amazon does the free shipping even at that price. I guess
the shippers give the big shippers a big discount. I sent a 13 pound

the contents of the package.

If you not selling as much you cannot afford to cut the price of

free shipping from $35 to $49 for non-Prime members. This is a whopping
40% increase, and makes it more difficult for those of us blind consumers

Amazon keeps tinkering with its web site to the detriment of screen

VR Stream Second Generation Questions: Here Goes

Ron Canazzi

Hi Group,

I received my VR Stream Second Generation yesterday and have been playing around with it. It seems to be functioning well and I have gotten used to many of the functions already. I do have one big problem. For whatever reason, I cannot get my WIFI configuration to work. I believe it has something to do with the password.

When I do the search for wireless network routine, it sees my router. I select it and then confirm it and it asks me for my password. When I enter the password, it says that it cannot establish a connection. I went and reconfigured my wireless router and got a new key/password. Still I am unable to connect. I used the Humanware companion and created a log-in file which I transferred to the SD card. Then I went back into the configure wireless network and selected the 'choose configuration from a file' option but still no connection.

Well that's about it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be going wrong and what might be the solution?

Thanks in advance for any help.

It supports Blu-ray data discs if that is what you mean. A video Blu-ray disc is basically just a data disc with files in a specific format so it might let you write a video Blu-ray disc. Although it certainly won't let you do anything with protected commercial Blu-ray discs.

There are two ways to create a new contact group.
1. Open the "Run" dialog with WindowsKey+R and type
wab /CreateGroup %UserProfile%\Contacts
2. In Windows Mail, open the contacts list either by using the
Control+Shift+C shortcut or selecting "Windows Contacts" from the "Tools"
menu.  When the list opens, use your Jaws/review cursor to find "New Contact
Group" on the toolbar and left click it.

Either method will accomplish the same thing.  Although the first may be
more convenient.  The "Properties" dialog should open for a new group.  Type
a name for the new group.  Now you can add contacts to the group using any
of the following methods.
1. Use the "Add to Contact Group" button to select from the list of existing
contacts.
2. Select the "Create New Contact" button.
3. Type in a name and Email address and then select the "Create for Group
Only" button.

When you are done adding contacts, select the "OK" button to save the group
and exit the "Properties" dialog.

Re: about your LG Rivera 3

Carolyn Arnold

It is a smart flip phone. I have been on the net once, but did not fool
around on it.

When you open it, of course, it gives the time. Then it says, Left select
Key messages; Middle key Menu; Right Select Key Contacts.

If you hit the OK key for the menu, the following nine items appear:

Contacts
Messaging
Recent calls
Internet
Media Center
Mobile e-mail
Apps
my pictures
Settings and tools

Then you hit OK for one of those, Then push down on the lower part of
that middle square to give options within the particular menu. So far, I
have added a contact and edited another. I set up my greeting. I've had
the thing a little over 24 hours. This weekend, when I have time, I'm
going to call Verizon's 800 number for technical support to find out a
few things. I want to make a careful list, so that I'll know exactly what
to ask them, get it figured out with the least amount of their time.

In the meantime, this weekend a girlfriend that just bought a Haven wants
me to work with her on it. She's not as old as I am, but has had some
strokes, so she has a harder time with these new electronics, if you want
to call Haven new, because it is to her.

The thing that I am appreciating about this phone is its battery stamina.

We went back to the Verizon store, because we could not figure out how to
read text messages. The lady that sold it, $4 a month, two years or $100,
I'd rather pay $96 in two years, anyway, she looked on the net and saw
that I had to hit the Left Select Key, then the Middle Key, then the
speaker, and VOILA, it read the two messages that I had.

I like that there is a tiny dot on the Send key and on the End Key,
making them easy to identify.

Like the Haven, it announces "battery charging" and "charge complete".

The problem with UPS, is that it had my former address in its base. The first time that happened, Richard doubled checked his computer. His was right. The package was addressed right; yet it went to the old address. So, the second time, both Richard and I were aware of the problem, so he took special pains to see that it should come to this address; yet it did not. My husband saw the package both times addressed here on Richard's paper work nbut there on the UPS thing. I don't know what it will take to ever get them straight, but we track it, and we know right where it goes. Are you talking about UPS or USPS ? as UPS only goes by what the shipper gives them! For example if you buy something from Walmart and have it shipped whatever shipping address you give them is what UPS has! UPS does not change your address at all. The USPS (United State Postal Service) is the only one that changes your address! So for example : if you move from 3333 Orlando, Florida to 6666 Tampa, Florida then you would put in a change of address with the USPS and they would change your mailing address. UPS does not do that !

Richard had to do all kind of things to get my current address fixed with UPS, and I've lived here for nearly seven years.

Bye for now,

Carolyn

I've had that, usually with UPS. But they usually leave some kind of a paper that says attempted delivery. And I was there all day, right in the livingroom, staying there so I could hear the doorbell. One of the times, a person rang my doorbell and told me there was a package in front of my door.
I asked her when it had come and she said some time that morning, and it was late afternoon. Pam.

Yep, I've had packages which were completely lost in the system as well. A couple of times even when they claimed it had been delivered. I've also experienced packages simply being left out in the hall. Or claims of attempted deliveries which I know for a fact never took place. Granted, those experiences are not necessarily frequent, but frequent enough that there is definitely at least some laziness and incompetence involved if nothing else.

Absolutely not true. The USPS is so incompetent and inefficient that I often do not get updated tracking infornation until after my shipment has been delivered. Last year, they managed to lose two fairly large packages that had been shipped by Amazon which just vanished without a trace somewhere in their system, never to be seen again. In both cases, Amazon refunded the cost of the orders.

Hi.
Does it matter?
You always have tracking numbers and can find out where you're packages are.

But with Amazon, you have no control over which shipping carrier they
will choose for your order. It could be UPS or USPS or Fedex or one
of those fly-by-night smaller outfits like Laser Ship or A1

shipments, they may use different carriers for each one.

But here’s another dirty little secret about UPS, Fedex and USPS
shipping that you guys may not be aware of. If you live in an
apartment complex, these three delivery carriers will no longer
deliver large packages directly to your door, even if you have paid a
pretty penny out of your own pocket for delivery. Instead, their
drivers now usually leave packages with the super or building manager
in the basement or other central location. The problem with this new
policy is that if the super isn’t around to sign for delivery or
place the packages in a secure location, the driver will simply leave
them outside his door where anyone can walk by and steal them. I
have complained numerous times to UPS customer service about this
practice, but to no avail. Whenever I order stuff that is delivered
by UPS or Fedex or the USPS, the driver now always leaves the package
with my super. But if he is not around to sign for delivery, the
driver just leaves the package outside his door where anyone can walk
by and take it for themselves. Fortunately, I have not yet had one of
my deliveries stolen, but I am still very unhappy over this lackadaisical attitude on the part of these delivery carriers.

I don't see how Amazon does the free shipping even at that price. I
guess the shippers give the big shippers a big discount. I sent a 13
pound package by UPS recently and it cost me $37, much more than the
cost of the contents of the package.

Yes I seen that this morning on the news. I am a prime member so
it might not affect me so much.

But this would not be unusual as things is slowing down on buying
and so you would expect this. I don’t think they had or even thought
of the blind people when doing this . It is just good business sense.
If you not selling as much you cannot afford to cut the price of
shipping or the price of things just go up as people is now not going
to be buying as much. JST

Yikes! Imagine my horror when I visited Amazon.com this morning
to discover that they have raised their minimum order size to qualify
for free shipping from $35 to $49 for non-Prime members. This is a
whopping 40% increase, and makes it more difficult for those of us
blind consumers who live on limited incomes to now shop there. It’s
bad enough that Amazon keeps tinkering with its web site to the
detriment of screen reader users like us. But now, to add insult to
injury, they have now made it more difficult to get free shipping. A
pox on Jeff Bezos and all his ancestors!!! LOL!!

It can be done in Media Player, but I personally prefer a dedicated CD
burning application like AnyBurn http://www.anyburn.com/AnyBurn or
CDBurnerXP.

Hi, what's the best, most accessible means of burning an audio CD in
Windows 7? I've gone round and round with Windows Media Player but am
apparently too special to figure out how to add music to the list. I
thought one could do it from Windows Explorer but am not sure this is
accurate. Thanks for any help!

Re: Doing business with Laz.

Troy Burnham

I've only purchased one thing from Laz, an Android phone that I purchased about 2 years ago, and the only complaint I have with him is that he gave me a 15-day window that I could return the product in but 8 of those days were taken up
by him doing some setup on the phone for me and shipping it. So, after not being able to connect with him on skype for training I decided about 2 weeks after I had the phone to return it for a refund but it turns out I was a week too late for a refund. He also didn't make it clear when I purchased the phone that the time it took for me to get the phone was included in my possible return period or I would've known to make a quicker decision on whether I wanted to keep the phone.

I give him credit in that he eventually did take the phone back and gave me a store credit, but I wasn't interested in anything else he had at the time so I ended up buying something I didn't want and then I turned around and sold that. I still didn't get the entire price of the phone back though.

When I questioned him about the return policy afterward he claimed that all businesses handle returns the same way that he does, but I've talked to other people since then that disagree with him.
