Hi,
It was my understanding that this update was pushed out to correct just that very issue along with some others.
I hope that helps.
If I’m wrong I’m sure someone will post in short order (smile).

Hello,
Hmm, wonder whether they'd know what voice over, or better yet, a braille device is? Would be interesting, when they find out braille devices have no run dialogs.

I have a solution, I have caller-id on both my home phone as well as my

simply
press the end call button on my cell withouth ever having to talk to

As long as this scam has been going on they apparently get some people

A call came from Area Code 755. The guy with a foreign accent started
"Microsoft Windows..."

I cheerfully interrupted him, "my computer guy (Jim) is right here,

and

my

I understand that there are scammers claiming to be calling from
Microsoft
Windows. Even so, I have enough common sense: why in the world would
Microsoft Windows call me? How would they have my number? I bought my
computer from Office Max.

So I checked Windows Search, and it gave me area code 775 - all of

other than Clark County (Las Vegas). I Googled; same. Then I Googled
which
country was 755 - alas, the Philippines!

Just thought I'd share.

Re: apex and contractions

Ann Parsons <akp@...>

Hi all,

No, actually, I mentioned the three forms of help available to see if that would give any help. Actually, what you want to do is:

1. go to options menu.

2. Go down to Braille and enter. You want to change the reading grade. So, go down to that and type enter.

Then, type B for grade 2.

You can also get there by using the backspace with G that was suggested. Once you hit the backspace with G, you hit the b for grade II.

I did explain this in my message, but because you became angry, thinking that I was just brushing you off by telling you to read the manual, you didn't see it.

Hi there GROUP!
I have a solution, I have caller-id on both my home phone as well as my
cell. When I get a call that I don't recognize I either ignore it or
simply
press the end call button on my cell withouth ever having to talk to
anyone.
Just my two sense worth whatever that might be worth these days!

I've been getting a call starting with the digits 1 2 7, they even called
at
6:00 last Saturday morning and woke us up. I got a call from that same
number today and answered it and when a man with an obvious foreign
accent
said his name was Peter and he said something about my computer I
interrupted him and just said "sir I don't even have a computer and I
wish
you'd quit calling here", then before he could even respond I hung up.

As long as this scam has been going on they apparently get some people
who
believe them or I can't believe they're still trying.

A call came from Area Code 755. The guy with a foreign accent started
"Microsoft Windows..."

I cheerfully interrupted him, "my computer guy (Jim) is right here,

and

my

I understand that there are scammers claiming to be calling from

Microsoft Windows call me? How would they have my number? I bought my

So I checked Windows Search, and it gave me area code 775 - all of

Just thought I'd share.

Another Openbook 9 Update, 9.0.1696.403

Mike B. <mb69mach1@...>

Hi All,

Below is the direct download link for this newest OB 9 update.  This update was released Monday March 7, 2016, at least that's what was told to me by Freedom Scientific tech support.  This update, OB9.0.1696.403, fixes something from the February update, OB9.0.1695.403.  I couldn't find what this update is supposed to fix from the prior version.

Take care.

That is a good question, but I am not sure.  I suspect it applies to HTML form combo boxes no matter the operating system, but I don't know about combo box controls in non Windows based applications.

Ah I see. Unfortunately that is not the case. LOL I only wish that it
did
work that way. I explained this to him in a private message. Basically,
you have to think of WinPE as a separate Windows installation. Any
changes
you make to the PE settings only affect the PE. They do not affect your
Windows installation. The PE has it's own settings and it's own
registry.
Further more, since the PE is read-only, any changes you make to it's
settings are temporary and will revert after the next reboot. Of course
there are utilities included which do allow you to modify the
settings/registry of an offline Windows installation, but that is a
separate
issue and assumes you know what you are doing.

Carlos, I'm joining in this thread in case he does not respond as he
asked
me in the first place to see if I could help before I referred him to
this
list.

We thought if he booted into Win10PE and changed audio devices that way,
it
would fix the problem. After thinking about it, of course it wouldn't.
But
it was worth a shot anyway. Right now he's just booting into the
installed
copy of Windows 10 where he can't hear any audio at all.

Windows
10. If the problem only occurs after rebooting from Win10PE, then stop
rebooting from Win10PE into Windows 10. You might even want to
disconnect
the USB flash drive or DVD containing Win10PE.

Subject: [TechTalk] Problem with audio in Windows10. Can anyone help?

Evening everyone!

Today I decided to give Windows10 on my desktop another try after using
Windows8.1 for a bit.

So I installed it using the Talking PE from Carlos.
This set the speakers as default for me, then I was able to get NVDA
installed from the portable version.

Anyway I then got all the updates installed and then left it while I
went
to
my parents.

But here’s where my problem is, all my audio has gone completely!

I have even tried the talking PE again, this will not even fix it.
The startup tune for Windows will not play even though the box is
checked
under the sounds part, but nor will the startup tune for NVDA.

But like I said to Christopher Hallsworth before, if I Google something
like
Change audio device in Windows10, I’m getting either a load of mouse
instructions or a few programmes which let you switch via hotkeys or
something like that.

But the strange thing is it’s only after I reboot from the talking PE
that
the audio goes.

I can’t even load Narrator to see what I can do with it or check what’s
wrong. I’ve had to close it down for now using the power button on my
desktop.
Please any help would be appreciated!

I don't know how much information you may need about using forms mode in NVDA.  the command to open a combo box is not a screen-reader command.  It is a standard, I presume, HTML command.  It is alt down arrow.  Depending on how NVDA is set, you may have to press enter on the combo box first.  Issue the command then down arrow through the items and then press enter on the one you want to select.  I don't recall if you automatically leave forms mode or if you have to then leave it in NVDA.  You can use escape to leave it.

It is a search engine that someone has evidently set to be the default when you use the Firefox search bar.  The command to move to the search bar is control k.  You then type a search and press enter.

you look under b for Braille, you will find several references.

The third way to get help and possibly the most effective, is to type
space-h from anywhere in Keysoft. Had you typed space-h after pressing
backspace-g, you would have been told that if you wanted grade 1 to press a,
grade 2 to press b and computer braille to press c. This context sensitive
help is one of the best features of kaysoft and has been so ever since the
old Classic BrailleNotes.

Hi all:
It says dots 7 and 8 for the shape of the curser.
More clarification behind this mess I can't figure out unless I reset
it. I just wrote the word the 2346 and instead of saying the, it says
indigo.
Also, backspace g, just told me what grade of braille I'm using and
didn't switch nothing.

Hi there GROUP!
I have a solution, I have caller-id on both my home phone as well as my cell.  When I get a call that I don't recognize I either ignore it or simply press the end call button on my cell withouth ever having to talk to anyone.  Just my two sense worth whatever that might be worth these days!

was a scam or a wrong number so as i picked up the phone i said thanks
for calling cid how may we help you and instently there was a click.
if this doesnt work then just tell them that your technition is Carry
Holzmen and you wont get a call from them.
cause Carey has done a long video called scamming the scammers and as
a result of this video a lot of them had been taken down and asked to
pay up a large sum

would bring out the worst in me.

Bye for now,

I'm sure they find people, still. Like P. T. Barnham said: "There's a

I got a call like that last week. The guy said Microsoft was getting
error
messages from my computer. I told him that that was very strange
because
I
only had apple ipads and phones. I heard silence for about 30 seconds

and
he hung up. I guess he had never heard that answer.

A call came from Area Code 755. The guy with a foreign accent started
"Microsoft Windows..."

I cheerfully interrupted him, "my computer guy (Jim) is right here,
and
my
computer is just fine. Thank you!" I hung up.

I understand that there are scammers claiming to be calling from
Microsoft
Windows. Even so, I have enough common sense: why in the world would
Microsoft Windows call me? How would they have my number? I bought my
computer from Office Max.

So I checked Windows Search, and it gave me area code 775 - all of
Nevada
other than Clark County (Las Vegas). I Googled; same. Then I Googled
which
country was 755 - alas, the Philippines!

Just thought I'd share.

Best from,

Carolyn
