Re: How do I refresh the folder list?

Completely irrelevant and unjustifiably hostile.  You said yourself that this may have nothing to do with the problem and it clearly almost certainly doesn't.  This has nothing to do with my setup.  I'm pointing out that there may be a reason someone might want to keep the duplicate folders and also that there is almost certainly no connection between the problem and those folders.  It may be conceivable, because of the complexity of programs and the oddity of what may happen, that there may be some sort of unexpected connection but I am very very doubtful and I consider this a very very unlikely possibility.

I don't see any relevance to the problem.  Evidently, updating should be automatic but it is only being done manually.  Perhaps it's a way of storing messages on your computer without them being on the server.  At this point, it isn't clear to me what the folders are intended to be used for.  They may be intended to keep messages in the program that you don't want to keep on the server.  If each account has such folders, this would allow you to store mail in the account you received it rather than having all messages stored in only one folder, regardless of the account it came from.  For example, if you have three accounts and three deleted messages duplicate folders, one in each account, you could store mail by account in those folders.

Hi Sylvia,
Most bare hard drives do not include mounting screws.  You can use the ones from the old drive.

Hi Carlos and all, I’m back with another question about installing the new hd. I’ve been reading some reviews about the wd drive you recommended. One thing that was stated was that the drive doesn’t come with mounting screws or a Sata cable. Will I need to get new mounting screws for the new drive?

How do I refresh the folder list?

Well, no if you plan to replace your old one. Your old screws should work. No worry.
Thanks for asking.

Re: windows 10 still not recognizing my External HardDrive

Sorry but did you try removing the HDD from Device Manager?
I would like you to also remove the related USB Mass Storage Device, from the Universal Serial Bus controllers folder in Device Manager when your drive is connected.
1 way you could do them all easily
Download this file:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ro6ynhwcbdcn5t0/DeviceCleanup.exe?dl=1
No worry this is a portable program that helps you remove non-connected device drivers from a computer.
Connect any working external devices that you want to use with Windows 10. (you want to keep that particular HDD disconnected)
Run that file as administrator. You will see any hardware that you were previously connected, and now are disconnected. You may surprise, that list may show you lots of devices.
Go to the beginning of the list, press Shift+End then remove all items from the list by pressing Delete.
Try connecting the HDD now.

Still disagree.
I'd recommend contacting Toshiba instead. Microsoft do not have to

So there are 3 possibility: USB cable, USB port or the drive itself.

Connect it to your computer, go to Device Manager, remove the drive

If you are familiarized with diskpart you could try re-assigning a

Re: Hearing aid questions

Rick Alfaro

After that long discussion on this list regarding hearing aids, I went to an audiologist and found I had 38% hearing loss in one ear and 32 in the other. I was told that was considered to be mild hearing loss but certainly enough to make a very definite difference to someone. This was at Sams Club with a true audiologist. I tried the top of the line aids they sold there and wound up returning them as I didn't like the way they handled cell phone audio or anything else using their bluetooth relay box.

I decided to go to a different place for a second opinion of my results and they were confirmed. Anyhow, I decided to try out the Starkey Halo 2 aids and I was blown away with the way they were designed to also work directly with the iPhone. They work great and phone calls and any streaming from my phone can go directly to the aids. They were very expensive however at $4800 after a $1500 discount for Humana members.

In either case, there was never a charge for the Audiogram.

Best regards,

Rick Alfaro

Gerald, very well put. I think I might eventually look into the Siemens. My husband has an electronics background so has been a big help to me in getting, what you call do it yourself hearing aids and he calls some of those places you mentioned "rob shops." I like being able to size my own tubes; it gives me more of a feeling of control.

The problem is that there is no insurance coverage toward purchasing hearing aids, and I am not sure about an audiology examination.

I agree that https://www.mdhearingaid.com/ is a good web site.

Bye for now,

Don, I am wearing a pair of Siemens Touching digital Behind-the-Ear hearing aids as my primary aids that I purchased from a US-based seller on EBay.com about 4 years ago for $98 each, although there are currently some sellers on EBay who sell them for as low as $55 each. I wear these aids continuously for about 14 hours a day a get about 3 weeks of battery life from a standard size 13 hearing aid battery. In fact, I am wearing them now as I compose this message on my computer. The aid has a tiny, concealed trimmer screw which you can adjust with the included screwdriver to tweak the frequency response to your personal preference. Each aid comes with a long piece of silicone tubing which you cust to size to fit your ear along with three silicone ear tips of different sizes to best conform to your ear canal. The aid can also be used with a custom earmold if you have one. The aid can be worn in either the left or right ear, but for best results, you should buy a pair. I am so satisfied with the sound quality from these aids that I rarely wear my $3000 pair of Phonak custom digital aids anymore. I have relegated them to the back of my drawer for emergency use only. The Siemens aids are designed for moderate to severe hearing loss, and while they may not be for everybody, they have certainly worked out well for me. If you are interested in these aids, just visit EBay.com and type "Siemens Touching" into the search field, and then slect a seller to buy them from.
If you want a hearing aid withadditional features like a telephone ccoil, low battery alert and2 or 3 adjustment screws , then type "Siemens Lotus"
into the EBay search field. The Lotus models are basically more feature-rich
versions of the Touching model, but the sound quality is the same. Keep in
mind that this is strictly a “do-it-yourself” approach to buying hearing aids. If you need an audiological evaluation, you should visit an audiologist who will administer a hearing test and based on the results, recommend custom aids best suited to your personal preference, lifestyle and specific hearing loss. But be prepared to pay a few thousand dollars, even at Costco, although they are considerably cheaperthan an audiologist in private practice. Keep in mind that most health insurance plans, including Medicare Part B, do not cover hearing aids, so check with your insurance carrier to find out what level of coverage they offer before you visit Costco or other hearing aid dispenser. Another good choice for affordable hearing aids is MDHearing, which sells excellent analog and digital aids online. I have a pair of their MDHearing Pro analog aids which I like almost as much as the Siemens aids, but because they are analog and thus lack feedback management and digital noise reduction like the Siemens aids, I now keep them on hand as backups. I loved them so much at the time I purchased them in 2010 that I wrote a rave review about them on Amazon.com, which attracted the attention of the company’s president, who contacted me about possibly being interviewed on TV to discuss my experience with them, but nothing ever came of it. You can check out the line of MD Hearing aids
at:

Hope you find this information helpful.

Are the hearing aid consultants at Costco authorized to write prescriptions to be submitted to insurance companies? If not, then it would seem to me that the buyer would have to pay for the hearing aid without the possibility of insurance coverage.

Also, more than a year ago, there was an extensive discussion about hearing aids. During that discussion, Gerald Levy mentioned a low priced brand with which he was very satisfied. I can't recall that brand name but do remember that when I attempted to contact the manufacturer, I was told that they could be purchased only through an audiology professional. So what is the name of that brand?

Re: How do I refresh the folder list?

That's far too broad a generalization.  In the case of one user who doesn't have to worry about viewing mail on multiple devices, pop is fine.  If you are worried about synchronizing mail on multiple devices, IMAP would likely be a much better choice.

Re: How do I refresh the folder list?

Windows Live mail is slightly more accessible than Thunderbird.  Also, Windows Live Mail has at least one feature I don't want to lose and I would if I switched to thunderbird.  Wherever I am, I can immediately go to the default inbox by using the short cut command control I.

I haven't used Outlook enough to compare it with Windows Live Mail.

Thunderbird, from what I've read and seen in list discussions, allows you to set message rules within the program for IMAP accounts.  Windows Live Mail doesn't.  My understanding is that message rules can be set directly on the server so this is evidently not a matter of losing the ability, just learning another way to accomplish what is desired.

The newer Windows Live Mail uses ribbons and those who want to use Windows Live Mail with ribbons may use the older version of the program.  List members can provide the installation file.  It is no longer available from Microsoft.

Re: How do I refresh the folder list?

No. POP3 is not recommended at all. GMail+Thunderbird+IMAP=best experience, IMO.

I can't remember the reasons that I decided that ThunderBird would not
work for me. I didn't have any problems until I switched to Imap and
Gmail. I will take time to think about this but I might decide to
switch back to Pop3. If Gmail works, then, fine. If not, then I might
consider going back to A T and T email using pop3.

This is a time consuming mess but, I will get it figured out.

WLM actually.
By the way I am not using WLM right now and honestly I do not want to
provide inaccurate information.
Also you may need to enable something called access for less secure apps
in your Google account. (not recommended for maximum security)
Maybe you want to switch to a more mainstream EMail client like
Thunderbird.

When I right click and go to properties in WLM, Jaws says that
properties are not available. I must be missing something here.

Maybe you could do this in properties of that GMail account? Right-click
on the main folder and select Properties. There should be an option for
refreshing the folder list.

I am still wondering. What is the advantage of using WLM?
Accessibility? Got use of it? I do not want to battle but anyway.
