Sorry but did you try removing the HDD from Device Manager?
I would like you to also remove the related USB Mass Storage Device, from the Universal Serial Bus controllers folder in Device Manager when your drive is connected.
1 way you could do them all easily
Download this file:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ro6ynhwcbdcn5t0/DeviceCleanup.exe?dl=1
No worry this is a portable program that helps you remove non-connected device drivers from a computer.
Connect any working external devices that you want to use with Windows 10. (you want to keep that particular HDD disconnected)
Run that file as administrator. You will see any hardware that you were previously connected, and now are disconnected. You may surprise, that list may show you lots of devices.
Go to the beginning of the list, press Shift+End then remove all items from the list by pressing Delete.
Try connecting the HDD now.

Still disagree.
I'd recommend contacting Toshiba instead. Microsoft do not have to
provide support for non-Microsoft product. unless no other drive work
on that computer also, there is no reason to waste time. Maybe you are
correct and it works, but I am not agree about this one.
I had situation that an empty USB external encloser was connected to a
computer and something was showing in Device Manager, even in Disk
Drive section. It's also a possibility. Maybe HDD inside the box
stopped working.

Because all of those possibilities have been tested based on previous

wrong with Windows 10. An operating system is complex software capable
of having many bugs so the possibility cannot be completely discounted.
Just because you have not personally experienced a particular problem,
does not mean that it cannot exist.

Yes. I did not read the message carefully.
So there are 3 possibility: USB cable, USB port or the drive itself.
There is nothing wrong in Windows 10. Why somebody should call M$

Is it working on another computer?
Maybe you need to assign a drive letter to it?
Connect it to your computer, go to Device Manager, remove the drive
from there and then unplug and replug the USB cable. Hope this fixs
the issue.
If you are familiarized with diskpart you could try re-assigning a
drive letter. You could also do it in disk management.

Re: Networking hardware, routers. Differences in how you access their network cards

Ah, yeah, I've herd of the Ubiquity stuff, mostly the access points, as they are highly recommended for use along side Mikrotiks, from what I read. I'll certainly head over and read up on them more though.

I was more so trying to figure out if there was a certain technical term that one would use to refer to these types of hardware, verses the types where the interfaces are separated.

For a good price, you can get one of the cheap Mikrotik routers which lets you have complete control over the interfaces, but as with the Ubiquity hardware, I'd imagine it'd be next to impossible to install anything other than routerOS on them, as they are extremely locked down.
Either way, pretty neat stuff.
Thanks for the suggestions too.
Take care.

Brent Harding wrote:

I heard that some of the Ubiquity Edge Router stuff has this capability, and a show suggested that one of them was as low as $49. It may not be able to run open source firmware though, but they suggested that most routers are actually one network interface with a switch hooked to it internally, so that breaking out control by ports or making them isolated separate networks on them isn't generally possible.

Hey all,
For those in the know, I've a little curiosity about different configurations in hardware, such as that found in some of the cheaper routers, compared to other, more configurable types, mikrotik, cisco, etc.

It would seem that on most of the hardware that I've had an opportunity to play with, such as netgear and Linksys devices, if you install things like OpenWRT, you still don't have the ability to manage each network port individually. It appears that the manufactures add most of these ports to one peace of hardware, so you can only manage them as a set,.

This seems to be different in the Mikrotik devices, and from what I read, in the higher end cisco ones too, so how does one get this more configurable hardware for use in things like DDWRT, OpenWRT, gargoyle, etc.
When one is looking for hardware that has their network cards separated, what would be the technical term for referring to this.
Hope that my question isn't completely bonkers. :)
Thanks.
Tc.

Hi folks!  I have just downloaded the new iTunes 12.5.1, and if you’re using JAWS 17, it still works the same.  You still cannot access the playlist options under your iDevice, whether it be your phone, your iPad or iPod.  This means you cannot control what goes on your iDevice, because you cannot read the information from the list view.  Apple continues to get it wrong here.  What is it going to take to fix this issue?

iTunes still not working right

Michael Mote

The Windows 10 mail app supports POP3, Gmail supports POP3, and most mail
accounts provided by ISPs still support POP3 so I don't think it's in danger
of disappearing anytime soon. Just because certain businesses refuse to
continue supporting POP3, doesn't mean you won't be able to find support for
it from a million other sources.

Pop is no longer recommended, as most businesses do not provide pop support.
That's not to say pop doesn't work, they will just not help you, if there is
a pop problem so we will be forced to come to the tech talk list.

the issue.
If you are familiarized with diskpart you could try re-assigning a

What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax
Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the
peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about
genuine peace - - the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth
living -- the kind that enables man and nations to grow and to hope
and
to build a better life for their children - - not merely peace for
Americans by peace for all men and women - - not merely peace in our
time but peace for all time."
