Hi Joseph, My nightmare is to delete the exact same thing 6 damn times. And, when the person sends something in response, they send it to like 3 lists. So that makes it 8 more messages, than necessary.

Hi,
Here's the thing. If I send something to this list, and the BlindTech list, but I only put one list into the to field at the time, there's literally literally nothing the admins can do. If there are more than one lists at the time, that's different.

Although I am still subscribed, I got very frustrated with the moderation and sometimes the lack thereof. I very much dislike the fact that there are more and more persons on Blindtech who are cross posting all over the place. It is not unusual to see the same message no fewer than five or six times on various lists. And I hope that those cross posts do not show up here. This prompts a question. Is there a utility which will somehow delete cross posted messages? Setting up filters to do this would be a huge undertaking.

The owner of JAWS-Users [a customized Mailman server] seems to have
implemented a filter to ‘catch’ cross-posters. It seems to work well, but from
time to time a cross-posted message still gets through. And when that happens,
the grapes of wrath quickly descend!
Anyway, one can implement a BCC message rule (filter) and add refinements
to it as the need arises. I had a designated BCC folder (and probably still have
one on my laptop), and messages sent BCC would go there.

Hi,
With all due respect are they actually cross posts or merely separate
postings to different lists? In my view there is a difference. I myself in
an effort to obtain information have posed questions on more than one list
in separate messages never cross posting as that is a violation of many an email
list’s protocols and also causes the email filters of individuals to fail.
That’s why I pointed out the difference as I don’t see a problem with the
latter. Just my two cents no one asked for.

Re: How to reply privately
If you open the message, tab once, then start shift
tabbing, you should get to the from line. You may have to shift tab five
or six times but you should get there. You don't indicate that you tabbed
once. It appears you just shift tabbed. You may not have seen my
follow up message earlier in the day where I discussed the need to tab once
before shift tabbing.

Nah, as I said before, it doesn't appear that it places the
cursor, or whatever it is that moves about when you're pressing tab, to the same
location every time you open a new message. As an example, when I opened up this
last message from you and pressed shift+tab, it took me to a terms of service
link. From here, yes, I can press tab once to get to the from header, but, It
doesn't always place me in the same position, especially once I close and
re-open the client later on to check my messages. this isn't something new
though, not in any of the previous versions of NVDA or tb at least.

Just went to check, and no, that doesn't work here inside tb
for me. Although it does announce the from header as a sub-menu, pressing any
of the arrows, or space doesn't appear to open it. Pressing the applications
key on this sub-menu does bring up the menu as you describe, however, the
portion of that menu that contains the email address, NVDA announces it as
unavailable. Two ways I can see from this menu to grab the address would be to
still use NVDA's mark and copy feature from flat review, or, there's another
option a few down that says, copy email address. I'm guessing that this would
copy it directly to the clipboard. I'm honestly not sure which one ends up
being faster, but, I'll add that for me at least, I've found more frustrations
in actually getting to where the headers begin. I'd at first thought that if
you use control end to jump to the end of the message, and then press tab, it
should land you on the beginning of the headers, but, this doesn't always work
here. More often than not, I end up having to press tab a few times, depending
on the length of the message, to actually reach the from header to copy the
address. Tc. Blessings.

Open the message, shift tab to the from field, and then open the
context menu. Up or down arrow, I think up arrowing is faster but I
didn't check carefully, and you will get to an item that says something like
send a message to. but instead of just stopping on that item, it would
be a good idea to go through the entire menu and see what options, in
addition to the send message option, are available. When you are
working with something and you can't see an easy way to do something, or
even if you can see an easy way, opening the context menu and looking around
is a good idea. I'm speaking in general, not just Thunderbird.

It's pretty much the same in tb, just a few things of note to
keep in mind, at least with NVDA. NVDA has always had some kind of strange
issue with keeping focus within those areas inside the message headers, so,
using the normal commands to move about through the field to copy them may
not work or give you response as expected. Rather, I find it easier to use
NVDA's ability to copy the text from flat review and then the NVDA command
to place that in the clipboard. For me, when I tab to the field that
contains the sender's address, it has it displayed as a menu, so I have to
first enter that object using the NVDA+shift down arrow command. From here.
I can set the start of where I wish to copy with NVDA+f9, use flat review to
move to the end of the address and NVDA+f10 to copy it to the
clipboard. Hope this helps, and tc. Blessings.

Be on the message in the message list.
Open the message properties with alt enter, that is, hold alt and
press enter.
Issue the command control tab.
Try down arrowing. If you can't down arrow, tab once. Now
try down arrowing again. If you have to tab once, do that every time
you follow this procedure before down arrowing.
Now start down arrowing through the message headers.
There will be a lot of information but you will find a line that says
from and then gives the address of the sender.
Move to the start of the address.
Then use the command shift end to select it.
Copy it to the clipboard.
Close properties with escape.
Then start a new message and paste the address into the
clipboard.
Some e-mail lists won't display the original sender's address in the
properties or anywhere else but many lists do.
It would be a good idea if people would send instructions about how
to reply privately with different e-mail programs. I know the method
I gave works in Outlook Express, Windows Live Mail and, presumably Windows
Mail. I don't know if it works in Word or Thunderbird.

Re: 1 Touch to Unblock Websites
The problem is that CNET now quite often uses their own stub downloader which is what includes the promotional software. So whether they download it directly from CNET or someone else hosting the file, there is still the risk of unintentionally installing junkware.

Indeed, the former is technically not considered cross posting, while the latter is traditionally what is classified as such. And of course not every admin is subscribed to every list so it would be difficult to justify penalizing members for this.

One Touch to Unblock Websites | For some
reasons you may not be able to visit a website due to
restrictions by service providers or censorship by
institutions or governments at your location. However,
these geo limitations can easily be overcome by average

On a mobile device, install and run this app,

unblock and access all websites and services including
Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or other websites banned at
your location or workplace. Simple as that.
What this app provides is a free unlimited

location automatically and connects you to the nearest
server that can access all websites and services,
therefore bypassing your default server that may

Besides encrypting your data for security,
this app also allows you to surf the Web anonymously. It
changes your IP address so that your online identity is
anonymous and internet activity is hidden. With this,
you can gain access to geo restricted services such as
Netflix that limits its availability to some countries

Better still, this app does not impose
irritating ads on the web pages you’re browsing, though
it does occasionally recommend third party apps to you.

Re: How to reply privately
Nah, as I said before, it doesn't appear that it places the cursor,
or whatever it is that moves about when you're pressing tab, to the
same location every time you open a new message. As an example, when
I opened up this last message from you and pressed shift+tab, it
took me to a terms of service link. From here, yes, I can press tab
once to get to the from header, but, It doesn't always place me in
the same position, especially once I close and re-open the client
later on to check my messages. this isn't something new though, not
in any of the previous versions of NVDA or tb at least.

Just went to check, and no, that doesn't work here inside tb for
me. Although it does announce the from header as a sub-menu,
pressing any of the arrows, or space doesn't appear to open it.
Pressing the applications key on this sub-menu does bring up the
menu as you describe, however, the portion of that menu that
contains the email address, NVDA announces it as unavailable. Two
ways I can see from this menu to grab the address would be to
still use NVDA's mark and copy feature from flat review, or,
there's another option a few down that says, copy email address.
I'm guessing that this would copy it directly to the clipboard.
I'm honestly not sure which one ends up being faster, but, I'll
add that for me at least, I've found more frustrations in actually
getting to where the headers begin. I'd at first thought that if
you use control end to jump to the end of the message, and then
press tab, it should land you on the beginning of the headers,
but, this doesn't always work here. More often than not, I end up
having to press tab a few times, depending on the length of the
message, to actually reach the from header to copy the address.
Tc.
Blessings.

Open the message, shift tab to the from field, and then
open the context menu. Up or down arrow, I think up arrowing
is faster but I didn't check carefully, and you will get to an
item that says something like send a message to. but instead
of just stopping on that item, it would be a good idea to go
through the entire menu and see what options, in addition to
the send message option, are available. When you are working
with something and you can't see an easy way to do something,
or even if you can see an easy way, opening the context menu
and looking around is a good idea. I'm speaking in general,
not just Thunderbird.

Are you referring to a laptop layout command when you
discuss the NVDA shift down arrow command? I'm not sure what
that command would be on the desktop layout. I suspect the
desktop command is insert numpad down arrow.

It's pretty much the same in tb, just a few things of note to
keep in mind, at least with NVDA. NVDA has always had some kind
of strange issue with keeping focus within those areas inside
the message headers, so, using the normal commands to move about
through the field to copy them may not work or give you response
as expected. Rather, I find it easier to use NVDA's ability to
copy the text from flat review and then the NVDA command to
place that in the clipboard. For me, when I tab to the field
that contains the sender's address, it has it displayed as a
menu, so I have to first enter that object using the NVDA+shift
down arrow command. From here. I can set the start of where I
wish to copy with NVDA+f9, use flat review to move to the end of
the address and NVDA+f10 to copy it to the clipboard.
Hope this helps, and tc.
Blessings.

Considering how many times over the years, I see blind

perhaps many, e-mail programs.
Be on the message in the message list.
Open the message properties with alt enter, that is, hold
alt and press enter.
Issue the command control tab.
Try down arrowing. If you can't down arrow, tab once.
Now try down arrowing again. If you have to tab once, do
that every time you follow this procedure before down
arrowing.
Now start down arrowing through the message headers.
There will be a lot of information but you will find a
line that says from and then gives the address of the
sender.
Move to the start of the address.
Then use the command shift end to select it.
Copy it to the clipboard.
Close properties with escape.
Then start a new message and paste the address into the
clipboard.
Some e-mail lists won't display the original sender's
address in the properties or anywhere else but many lists
do.
It would be a good idea if people would send instructions
about how to reply privately with different e-mail
programs. I know the method I gave works in Outlook
Express, Windows Live Mail and, presumably Windows Mail. I
don't know if it works in Word or Thunderbird.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure that there's
really much which can be done about cross posting. I believe this
problem may come back to Gene's and other's concerns about too many lists
causing user fragmentation.

Although I am still subscribed, I got very frustrated with the
moderation and sometimes the lack thereof. I very much dislike the fact
that there are more and more persons on Blindtech who are cross posting all
over the place. It is not unusual to see the same message no fewer than
five or six times on various lists. And I hope that those cross posts do
not show up here. This prompts a question. Is there a utility
which will somehow delete cross posted messages? Setting up filters to
do this would be a huge undertaking.

Not that I am aware of, but any such utility would
probably have to implement some kind of filtering and would most likely have to
work as a proxy between your mail account and client.

Re: 1 Touch to Unblock Websites
Also remember that when you're connected to the VPN, keep an eye out on what types of traffic you send through it, most especially in using services like your bank, etc. Before my wife moved here to the states, she was using a similar service to bypass restrictions placed on the Canadian version of netflix, to get access to stuff that we had here on her phone. Even on the documentation pages for the free service, it warned against keeping the VPN enabled while making things like bank transactions.
