Sis Robin, good to have a sister like you helping to make me come close to
being a genius! I never thought of the Media folder in C:\Windows! It's
all good now, I'm a tad closer to being as smart as my smartphone! Gracious
thanks for all help.

A couple of times, when I couldn't access email, I had something like 2000 or more messages. I didn't delete them. I just ploughed through them, reading the ones I wanted to, and deleting the ones I didn't want to, like I do now, anyway. Pam.

Re: E-MAIL NOTIFICATION SOUND

Robin Frost

Hi,
Wouldn't it have to go in
c:\Windows\Media?
I've also found that sounds work best when they're wav files when doing this. When pasting it in you'll get a you don't have permission prompt but once given it should allow it to go.
then you'd just go to sounds and edit your sound scheme assigning the sound to the event of your choosing.

Hi Everyone:

Ok, I found an E-mail notification sound that I'd like to hear play when my
Inbox fills up with you know what! However, I'm too dumb to figure out
where to place it in this Windows7 64Bit Professional box.

Having beaten my computer to death and achieving no success, I gave up the
ghost and thought I'd ask for some pointers. I use Outlook as mail reader.
I think I'll also need help knowing how to select this preferred sound once
I can hopefully place it in the correct folder.

Witty sarcasm notwithstanding, gracious thanks as always for all help!!

Interesting idea ... However, batteries in Bluetooth keyboards tend to last several months of typical daily office work use, and of course the keyboards are more portable if they’re not physically connected to an iPhone (or other BT capable device)

Hello everyone,
I'm back and feeling much better. Thanks for all the good wishes. I have a

severe dislike of hospitals so I have a bad habit of putting off going until

I absolutely must. In the past this has served me well enough since I very
rarely get sick, but eventually the odds do catch up with you. This was my
first major hospital stay ever so it was not a pleasant experience. I won't
go into all the gory details, but I'll just say that I thought I had one
thing which turned out to be something else. It turns out I have a serious
blood infection which has kept me on antibiotics for the last week and a
half in the hospital and will mean another 5 to 6 weeks on antibiotics at
home through an IV. For 3 days before I finally went to the hospital, I had

aches, chills, and was incapable of eating anything. Most of the side
effects are gone now and I am now able to eat again. I had to wait 3 days
for my blood cultures to show negative bacteria before they would release
me, but still, 5 to 6 weeks of antibiotics through an IV even at home is not

going to be fun.

Re: Question about arranging contact names in Outlook contacts.

Gene

If this search works like the search in Windows Live mail and like the search in the Windows start menu, you don't have to waste time and effort typing full contact names.  Just type what you think will get you the name without a lot of extraneous results.  If this is a very common name or the partial choices you might use might produce a lot of results, then typing the full name might be the best option.  But it is often not necessary to type anywhere near the full name.  for example, typing smi will show you all results containing the letters smi.  So SJohn Smithers would come up, as well as John Smith or if someone were named Smile Jones, which is very unlikely  but it illustrates the point, you would see that name since you would see names containing smi anywhere in the name.

But let's say you know you only have one smith and a lot of people named John in the contacts.  Typing smi if you only have one or two smis will show you the result you want.  Or typing smith would only show you the one result you want.  Typing just John would show you every John result and  Johnson, if there is one.  So a bit of thought can save you a lot of typing and looking through extraneous results.

the same is true in the Windows start menu search.  I so seldom use my lap top online that I haven't bothered to create a short cut command for opening Windows Live Mail.  I just type the word mail in the start menu.  I only have one program with the word mail so I immediately am placed on the correct result.  Typing Windows or live or Windows Live produce more results.

I would think that there would be a way to search for a contact.  I never
use the list when I use Windows Live Mail.
I use the search feature so that I can find the contact by simply typing
part of what I'm looking for and then looking at the results.  I don't know
why the list is being organized in the way you describe but if Windows Live
Mail has a search contacts feature, I would expect that Outlook does as
well.

For some reason, as I add a new contact, they are going to the top of my
contacts. For instance, Jim goes over Alicia, the beginning of the list, and
Billy goes above Jim - getting to be a big jumble, and most irritating.

Another thing. Do any of yall know how to set it so that when I enter a
contact, I don't have to edit the file window to get the first name first?
In other words, I enter Jim Smith, but in the file window it shows Smith,
Jim, so I have to back out one of them and the comma and then put it  back
in the place where I want it so that the first name displays first.

help using some usb hard drive

Adrien Collins <adriencollins22160@...>

Hi

I seem to be experiencing some troubles when trying to use some usb hard
drives on my windows 10 pro pc. I recently purchased two toshiba usb drives.
On the rear of my pc I have 6 usb ports, in two I keep two short usb
extension cables which I have near the rear of my keyboard to make it easier
for me to find and get to the usb ports for connecting usb hard drives. I
have noticed recently some of my usb hard drives are not working when I plug
them in to either of these cables but other drives or usb thumb drives do.
The two new ones I got only work when I plug them in to the two usb ports on
the front of my pc. I am not sure what is causing this problem. Is there a
limit to how many usb power hubs you can connect at once? Any ideas what is
causing this issue please?s

Adrien

help with image for windows please

Adrien Collins <adriencollins22160@...>

Hi

I tried to back-up my pc yesterday with image for windows, I am using
windows 10 pro, 64 bit pc. Ok I wanted to add to a new back-up. Open up up
ifw, select back-up pc, next select the drive I wanted to back-up i.e. drive
c, next tried to select the drive to backup to. This is where I got stuck. I
wasn't able to select a usb drive, only the internal spare 500 gb hard
drive. This is the drive I had previously used when creating an ifw back-up.
I wanted to change it. I wasn't able to find it on the list. Any ideas
please?

Adrien

Re: Internet connection.

Hi Maria, you just might need to reboot the router. This can be done by unplugging it and plugging it back in.

Just in the last few weeks I have had repeated problems with maintaining the internet connection on both my laptop and my Surface tablet. I just turned on the surface and ... no internet so I ran the trouble shooter. It tells me there is no valid IP configuration. I have never ever set an IP address or ever needed to. So what is going on and how can I fix it, please. This is driving me crazy. Thanks, Marie

Well I guess you're very lucky. Because Dee three email accounts that I have linked up to this MacBook Pro. Have at least six or seven groups to them a piece possibly, and I can easily run 1500 emails through them in about four days.

Hello everyone,
I'm back and feeling much better.  Thanks for all the good wishes.  I have

a severe dislike of hospitals so I have a bad habit of putting off going
until I absolutely must.  In the past this has served me well enough since

I very rarely get sick, but eventually the odds do catch up with you.
This was my first major hospital stay ever so it was not a pleasant
experience. I won't go into all the gory details, but I'll just say that I

thought I had one thing which turned out to be something else.  It turns
out I have a serious blood infection which has kept me on antibiotics for

the last week and a half in the hospital and will mean another 5 to 6
weeks on antibiotics at home through an IV.  For 3 days before I finally
went to the hospital, I had aches, chills, and was incapable of eating
anything.  Most of the side effects are gone now and I am now able to eat

again.  I had to wait 3 days for my blood cultures to show negative
bacteria before they would release me, but still, 5 to 6 weeks of
antibiotics through an IV even at home is not going to be fun.

Okay, if
Carlos doesn't have a cell phone or computer with him in
the
hospital, how have you been
communicating with him? Have you been visiting
him there?

Gerald

I'm not sure if he
really
wants me to go into detail. He has
been such a
couple of weeks and finally
decided to give in
and go to the doctor.
The
doctor sent him
to the
ER and he was admitted on Tuesday. He is slowly eating

again and they are working on
getting him
better. He doesn't have
his
computer
with him and
doesn't own a cell phone so he has not been
able to go
online.
