hi, for whatever it's worth, unless I use the phone part of it, I wouldn't get a phone. particularly since depending on what phone, some things may not work without a sim. but, at the end of the day, what works the best for who.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for this!

Very interesting. I am seriously thinking about buying a Sam Sung Galaxy.
Could I surf the net, read and reply to emails, use Facebook and
twitter, and stream sports and movies by using talk back just as well as
voice over.
I really want to use Android just for those activities. I do not even
want to use it as a phone to make calls. How accessible would it be
just to do those things that I listed?

I’m thinking of getting either a google Pixel or a Pixel XL however
I’m not sure on battery life compared with the Samsung Galaxy S7 or
S8. Can anyone who owns one of these phones please advise how long the
battery lasts in a single charge. I know the Samsung Galaxy last for a
day so I’m trying to see if the Pixel matches that.

Thanks

Hello, but there is NVDA and its remote add-on, both of which are free.

So for me any way changing to jaws I’ll be losing functionality. Yes I know for now I can use window-eyes, but down the road that probably will not be an option as technology grows and window-eyes will no longer be growing with it.

I can use Jaws Home Edition to do a tandem connection with a friend in a different State. He also uses Jaws Home Edition.

And, this is as long as he is there to enter in the code and accept the connection?

Put the dropbox app on your device
Then open it up
Then create a folder for your files
Then I would suggest copying the files to the dropbox folder and if they all are there and you can open them then you can eather deleate the originals or keep them.

Re: Putting Items from Desktop into Dropbox in the Cloud

Vicki W

As far as I know, all items you place directly into dropbox go in the cloud. If you have your network drive able to access your Desktop and give permission for it to access DROPBOX, then you can transfer them directly from your network to dropbox and bypass putting them on your hard drive.

I have dropbox on my desktop, but it is not on my laptop. I gave permission for the dropbox folder to be accessed by my laptop so when I want to use dropbox items, transferring or even removing, I can do it without placing dropbox on my laptop. I simply access my desktop through my laptop and it is in the list of folders that I can open and edit.

Hope this helps.

Vicki

OK, verifying is basically out.  But, what about just being able to check or uncheck the boxes ?  For example, using the space bar or something.

All I’m interested in is turning on the byte by byte verification.  But, I suppose I could always run that process in a second operation after a backup.

Short answer, I am not aware of any way to verify the state of checkboxes in IFW using NVDA.  At least with JAWS, you can use the JAWS cursor.  However, a tedious method for verifying their state is by examining the INI file where it stores it's settings in Notepad or any text editor.  0 equals disabled, 1 equals enabled.

With NVDA it is almost impossible, but here is a work around that I have employed. Granted the boxes that have omit in their names are normally checked by default.

Create a batch file with an installed version of image for windows with all of the settings you prefer and save it where you can find it from the virtual environment.

Then do the same from the PE and compare the two files. Make adjustments as you need and you should be good to go.

I hope this is clear enough, if not just say so.

In order for people to say whether this is a bad idea or not, why do you want to upgrade and are you at all an experimenter or someone who wants the latest thing just because you do or do you put a high premium on reliability and predictability.  You may have no problems or none that amount to anything with Windows 10.  But enough people have enough problems either after upgrading or when a forced major upgrade comes out to Windows 10 that I would consider such questions.
