Someone might have saved them, but otherwise they might be challenging to acquire since I believe only the latest versions are usually available for download. I have an older version with x86/x64 combined, but I'm not sure if it's the Anniversary edition.

Hi all. Does anyone of you have the Windows 10 Anniversary version of the Media creation tool? I have been looking for it on the web with no success. All of Microsoft's links to the Windows 10 downloads now inevitably leaed to the creator's update. I desperately need the Anniversary Media tool to update my Mac Book pro before I can upgrade to the creator version. Thanks for any help. My email address is jaffar.sidek10@... Cheers!

Re: NVDA question

Bhavya shah

Hi,
Several clarification are needed right now:
Which tutorial is Ann talking about? - Anne is referring to the
audiobook version of the Basic Training for NVDA module from NV Access
itself (https://www.nvaccess.org/product/basic-training-for-nvda-downloadable-audio/).
Who has created the tutorial? - NV Access's Quentin Christensen, also
the training material developer at the organisation, wrote the
original ebook version of this module
(https://www.nvaccess.org/product/basic-training-for-nvda-ebook/)
which was later verbalized by a separate narrator for the production
of its audiobook counterpart. Therefore, any concerns, feedback or
suggestions for any forms of all NVDA training modules (others include
Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word ebooks with NVDA for now) should be
directed to NV Access, particularly quentin@....
NVDA's Laptop Keyboard Layout - Keyboard layout preferences seem to be
almost as subjective as speech synthesizers, except for the fact that
there are only two logical layouts to choose from. Where you come from
plays a major role in determining your choices, and my constant usage
of a laptop since the times of even beginning with screen reading has
largely contributed to my personal incompatibility with the Desktop
keyboard layout. I switch to the Caps Lock modifier key as well as the
laptop keyboard layout always, regardless of whether this new PC I am
working on a Desktop or laptop, but like Gene, it all comes down to a
matter of personal choice and preference for the most part.
Validity of Ann's Concern - the terminology you describe to be used in
the audio training module, as others have already clearly stated, is
simply incorrect. You may want to report this to Quentin via his above
mentioned e-mail address so as to enable them to be aware and hope to
address this nuance.
Thanks.

Re: changing my display name in windows live mail?

Michael Boyd <mike122061@...>

Hi Shirley,

Try opening Windows Live Mail.

Highlight the account that you wish to change.

Right click the account.

Select “Properties”.

In the General tab, or the tab on which it opens to, it should show your display name.

Change the name to what you want it to be.

Tab down and press enter on apply.

Tab around to OK and press enter again.

This sounds very similar to what MikeB said, but I believe it works. I have not used WLM in some years, so I am not 100% sure.

If it does not work, you can always delete the account and then set it up again with the desired name. This will require you to export the messages that are in the current account and then importing them into the new account.

Should you need further help, please post again.

Hi Shirley,

I thought I had read somewhere that changing the display name in WLM is the same or similar as changing it in Outlook Express.  If so, here are the steps for OE, & please let us know if they work.

Changing display name in OE

1. go to the tools menu while in OE.  With, Alt + T.

2. Press the letter A and you will land on the Accounts Dialog, with Focus on the list of available accounts.

3. select the account that you want to change by pressing the up or down arrow to select it.

4. Tab to the properties button or just hit alt+P.

5. press tab until Jaws says "name edit." This edit field will have your display name in it.

6. Delete the name if you want to, and put in the new name that you want displayed.

7. Tab to the apply button and press enter.

8. Press enter a second time.

9. Press escape or tab to the close button and press enter.

Take care.  Mike.  Go Dodgers!

It's not just distracting.  It's just plain inaccurate and wrong as a syntax.  It also is not proper to do a tutorial with no contact information.  I don't know how the rest of the tutorial is.  You may want to compare, and possibly use this tutorial instead:

I don't know the title but that's the link to the page.  You can download individual sections or the entire tutorial as a zip file.

I haven't listened to either of the tutorials, but this one is popular.

Yes and if the person has some sort of contact information, I think it would be a good idea to let the person know and ask him to explain what should actually be done.  He doesn't have to redo and correct the whole section, but he does need to explain at the beginning of it that he should have said just numpad 7 and that whenever he says numpad plus a number, that's what he means, just the number..

Not mail.  Find e-mail accounts, it must say both words, in the submenu after you open options.  The item called just Mail opens the same dialog you found in Outlook Express in the tools menu.  Outlook Express calls it options, which is what you are describing.  In Windows Live Mail it's just called mail.  Be sure you are on e-mail accounts when you press enter.

Hi,
I’m using Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3528.0331) of Windows Live Mail.

and no matter how hard I try I cannot reproduce Gene’s findings. If I launch Windows Live Mail and invoke alt f as described then navigate to options and then mail it shows no means of selecting account there as I reported before. the only tabs are as follows:
General, Read, Receipts, Send, Compose, Signatures, Spelling, Connection and Advanced. Within none of those tabs are a list of email accounts from which to choose so as to reach their individual properties.
Perhaps the options presented differ based on whether the accounts are pop versus IMAP? That’s the only difference I can even imagine would cause this area not to show that which Gene reports.
but at least there is another way to get there as I indicated before. Either way I hope Shirley is able to achieve that which she wishes.

this is similar or identical to what you do in Outlook Express.  My impression is the person is familiar with Outlook express so she can probably do this if she wishes using what I gave as instructions.

Hi,
In the most recent and last version of Windows Live Mail if you navigate to those email account options it is my experience that which Shirley is seeking isn’t there.
It can however be found if focusing on the email account in question in the tree view of the program, right clicking and opening up the properties for that account. then in the general tab you can either change the name of the account in question or the display name which appears on outgoing messages.
I hope that helps.

The new version of Windows Live Mail uses ribbons and, as in ribbon programs in general, there is one menu where many commonly used items are placed.

I shall assume you are using the ribbon version.
Press alt, then type f to open the single menu.
Down arrow to options and press enter.  You are now in a submenu.  Find e-mail accounts in that submenu and press enter.
A dialog opens that is very similar to an Outlook Express dialog.  If you have problems finding what you want, ask here.
I could have just given you the short cut key sequence but you can learn a lot about the program by looking through the menu and submenu.

Hi all,
When I do that it says no next review mode. I must be doing something wrong.

Actually, it says NVDA+numpad7. In other words, the Insert key + 7 on the
numeric keypad.

Subject: [TechTalk] NVDA question

Hi all,
I'm going through the tutorial on NVDA. I've gotten to the section on the
review cursor, and the guy keeps saying numpad+7 as a keystroke. I don't
understand this. What's the numpad key, or what's this aussie going on
about? I need some clarification here. I, um, think there's a slight
language problem here.

Re: suggestions regarding old hard drives

If your old computer works and has a usb port, why not simply buy a
flash drive, copy the files to it, and then copy them to your new
drive? Flash drives are incredibly cheap now, especially on Ebay. If
that won't work, depending on the size and number of files, you may be
able to save them to a rewritable cd or dvd and then copy them to your
new computer.

Hi Gene

Not sure, the drives equal 1.5 tb, not full but I have found a dual
enclosure so may go that route. Yes If I could network them it would be for
future use but I will see if I can get someone to help me with it.

I imagine you could through a network but I don't know anything about that.
Can you set up the old system somewhere and transfer the files to an
external hard drive or thumb drive from the old machine? Unless you want to
set up a network for further use, an external thumb drive or hard drive
would be the most simple way to transfer files.

Hi

I have a new pc, I need access to my old one or some files on it, I don't
have room here to set up another system, is there some kind of enclosure
that will take more than one internal 3.5 inch sata hard drive? Is there
another way I can access the files perhaps through a network?

Adrien

You don't specifically need the version updated by James Scholes. The
add-on was also updated by the official developer and that version can be
installed here.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/webvisum/
However, neither one of those updated versions will work with versions of
Firefox later than 52.
