Re: How do I transfer photos from iPhone to computerand Facebook?

My husband emails them to himself, copies the picture and posts it, but he is sighted. Therefore, I don't know if his method is all that helpful. He said it is easier to just do that than to connect the cable between phone and computer and do it that way.

Best from,

Carolyn

I'm not Mike, but I can answer you. It should be right under the size option and descending should be right below it.

You might also make sure that list or details, I use details, is checked in the view menu as well. That shouldn't matter, but sometimes computers are picky.

My whole thing is people still keep forgetting you can lease wich a
lot of people do, so they are not spending 600 plus bucks out right
for these devices. They can just trade them yearly or every 18 months.
70 dollars for a plan is not really bad, but if you are super careful
with money. You can find a cheaper plan I am sure. So please having a
smart phone is not so expensive if you don't wish it to be.

What amazes me these days is what a company charges for a device for the
blind when there are apps for the iPhones that will do the same
thing. Sure
not all blind folks have iPhones, and from what I hear the iPhone 8 is
likely to be more than twice the price of the 7, but my mom puts work

The pricing found on most items, devices or Appliances meant for the
Disabled is really outrageous.
It's not just adaptive equipment.
Have you seen what they charge for real high end scientific calculators?
How about super computers.
Specialized drills for oil rigs.
How about those thermometers for measuring deep sea vents.
High end microphones used for professional studio work.
Real high end cameras that can take picturs of bacteria.
Any specialized equipment which is not mass produced but only has a few
hundred thousand items sold world wide, if that, is going to cost a lot.
Now I don't agree with the fact that government is being charged more
than
the consumer. That expense ultimately gets passed on to us working
folk in a
crude parody of incest. But I do understand (even if I don't like it) why
adaptive equipment costs quite a bit of money.

Bluetooth problem

Reed Poynter <reed.poynter@...>

Hello,

My Lenovo X260 pc is running Windows 10 and JAWS 18.0.4104.

When I boot up, my Bluetooth device connects, I can hear JAWS talking through the device, I enter my password and press enter and the Bluetooth device disconnects.  This is happening with 3 different devices; one headset and 2 individual speakers.  I can’t imagine JAWS causing the problem.  But, I’ve seen stranger things in the almost 30 years of using the product.

This just started about 2 weeks ago.

Any hints/suggestions?

Thanks,

Reed

hi dave ;and list, regarding braille printers? someone should buy a used braille printer off ebay and then do you very descriptive detailed youtube video and do a teardown video of a braille printer showing the guts of the embosser and describing exactly how it works. its time these companies let us see the guts of these devices and if they will not then someone else should and youtube is a great way to do this.

On 8/7/2017 10:49 PM, Dave wrote:

I was taking a Computer Programming class back in the late 1980's, and
this guy had an Electric Wheel Chair that cost $65,000 !

At the time, a person could have bought a Ferrari for that amount.

I have looked at getting a Note Taker in the past, and even when I was
working, and making some good money, the amount they were asking for
them was just too much.

Same goes for Braille printers. I had the chance to buy a used one, for
about $1000 and I thought to myself, What happens if this printer should
stop working? How much would it cost to get it fixed?

maybe someone could fix it, and then again, I might be told, we don't
service that model any more, you need to fork out another $2000.

Now, I am not a Socialist, thinking I am some how Entitled to Aids and
Appliances either for Free or for ultra low pricing.

I don't mind a Company making a good profit from the sale of one of
their products. But I do mind when they make a KILLING on the sale of
their product!

I refuse to purchase other items that are way over priced, just because
I believe they are gouging the Customer.

If the Company actually has that much tied up in Research and
Development, then by all means, ask a price that make sense for the
amount spend in Develoment.

However, as most of us know, when the government is paying the Bill,
Companies take advantage, and sell a plain old Hammer for $600 or more.

I am sure there must be laws against such practises, but they don't seem
to be enforced.

So the question is, has there been an update that is causing a problem with JAWS?  At least you can use it if you want with NVDA, which works as well with Chrome.

Re: google chrome issue

If Chrome was working properly before and this just started, Chrome may have updated itself and this may be the result of an update.  As I recall, Chrome doesn't tell you when its updating so you wouldn't know.  You might check the version number and see when it was released.

If this is the result of an update, I doubt you can do anything about it.  You can try a different screen-reader to see what happens but this may be a problem Chrome developers have to solve.

One reason I don't use Chrome regularly is that it seems to me that about every six months, a release of Chrome has a serious problem related to accessibility.  I had hoped that pattern was ended but this may be another instance.

Yeah, I had the menu deal in my system tray for it, but I never did see an option there to disable either the pointer or the touchpad, unfortunately. I do have the option to turn either one of them off in the touchpad and pointers preferences in control panel though. I'll admit to not really looking super close at the system tray part though, so it might be that I also missed the option.
Take care.

In the system tray, you never saw something that said something like synaptics pointing device?  If you right click on it, as I recall, a menu comes up.  Just what you do after that is something I'd have to look at.  I don't know how common it is to be able to disable the device in device manager.

Yeah, I completely know what you're saying. I've found though that the option for turning it off isn't always obvious, depending on driver support, type of machine, etc. I've had computers where it's a button towards the top edge of the touchpad, which is amazingly wonderful and computers where it's one of those weird F-key combinations, sometimes not so nice to figure out. Oddly enough, I've yet to see an option for it in my system tray panel thingy for the pointer, but I normally just resort to looking in the preferences area the first time round on a new computer to see if it's there. :)
I've always been lucky in that I've always had the option to turn the pesky thing off in Windows, but in Linux or when I was using a Mac there a while back, that was another beast entirely. I do agree though, I've always thought it would feel strange to have a piece of something that would touch my wrists when I was typing. grin
Take care.

There's nothing wrong with doing that but it shouldn't be difficult to disable it using the System Tray or in some other way if the System Tray method isn't available.  I'd rather not, for comfort and asthetic reasons, have my wrists bump a piece of cardboard where there is a nice smooth plastic surface originally..

wow! simple, cool and inovative.  Who says Technology has to be so
complicated?  Kudos!
