Re: anybody seen the erroneous stuff on the Bard main page?

Monica Jones

Hmm, I'll check it out, but yesterday morning I was able to get on. It's usually the first thing I do on the computer, but I was looking for an important Email, so I went ahead and did the mail first. I'll see if I get the same thing.

List members, I can't access Bard, and I'm getting a different Error
code every single time I try to access the main page. I'm told to email
Michael Martys, and I do. But why? It should have been up, and I was
using the latest Firefox browser, Windows 10, etc. What is going on!
Also, I won't be shopping for books much longer, and my SD card on my
cell phone is dismounted and won't mount properly, so Best Buy is my
best bet. But yeah seriously, today has not been a clean tech day. I
can't get through but one measly day without technology error coding
itself, dismounting, breaking, or otherwise causing problems with access
to information. Phew!
Anyone seen Bard go down today at all? When will it be back up? If not
now, when?
Beth

Re: using Jaws 15 how to stop it from saying block quote

Gene

When you are in a message body, open quick settings with JAWS key v.  Look down the settings, and change what you want to change.  When you find something you want to change, such as block quotes, use the space bar to move through the available settings.  You may repeat the settings as often as you want by continuing to press the space bar.  Once you have changed whatever settings you want to change for as many items as you wish, press enter to save the changes and return you to the program window you were previously in.

Your home computer may not be indicating bloc quotes because you are not reading mail as html at home.  On your friends computer, messages are being read as html and you are in the virtual pc cursor.

Hi Carolyn,

Good to see you here.

In addition to stopping Microsoft from updating your drivers, you may wish to consider stopping any possible updates that some computer manufacturers also send to their customers

In my case, Dell updated some drivers on my laptop that messed up the sound.

In Windows 10 you cannot disable updates in general, but you can disable driver updates.
1. Press Windows+Pause.
2. Select
"Change settings"
3. Navigate to the
"Hardware"
tab.
4. Select the
"Device Installation Settings"
button.
5. Select the
"No, let me choose what to do"
and
"Never install driver software from Windows Update"
radio buttons.
6. Select the
"Save Changes"
button.

Thanks to you, Carlos I have set my Windows 10 laptop to never download the

this done before I got in the same position James found himself dealing

Whoa, Joe, I use NVDA. The very latest, and it works fine with Windows 10 although I did mention that Edge is a bit laggy, but other than that, it works great with Cortana and that. It was Jim you were talking to. Idk but NVDA is to me the best screen reader in the world, and that's because it's lighter and doesn't freeze up and there aren't so many components. lol

When I was using the Beta, the last update of nine was stable. I'm back to eight now because I had an issue with my phone unrelated to the nine BETA As with any release, there could be a few bugs, but I think there may be fewer since people have had the opportunity to test drive nine.

how to stop jaws from saying the word "unread" twice using windows live mail

joanne

On other computers I've used, when reading mail in Windows live Mail, Jaws simply says unread when seeing messages that haven't been opened.  But I'm using a friend's computer and wonder if a Jaws setting may need to be tweaked because when scrolling messages Jaws says unread unread.  I went to the Jaws script area using insert 0 but couldn't make sense of it so if anyone knows how to make it say the word only once I'd appreciate help.

Thanks.

Re: Opinions wanted: Should I install the upcoming updates?

I had the IOS beta on my phone, and there are features I think people might want. They've done things with the notes folder, and you can get news without having to get another app if you want. They've also made changes for the way we select text, which I think is helpful. There are other things, but those are what comes to mind first.

Probably good to double check on something like applevis, just to see how others are finding it. I normally either wait until I see that things are working ok to make me comfortable using it, or, I wait until I see that what ever bugs have been fixed and it's safe to finally update it.
