Aw yeah, this Apple lover is licking her chops all right! I’d love to get my hands on these new phones! T-Mobile has a great offer of $300 on a trade in, and free upgrade to a 256 bit. Remember how everyone was hoping that the price of an IPhone would eventually come down as manufacturing costs were reduced by economies of scale? Well, guess what? Just the opposite is happening. Apple announced the much anticipated IPhone 8 today, and it willsell for $799. And the new IPhone X, which features facial recognition will sell for a ridiculous $999. But hey,all the Apple lovers on this list are probably just licking their chops to get their hands on one of them, even though they may have to go on a macaroni and cheese diet to afford one.

Hi all,
Yes, KNFB Reader is a good program, and you can add it to the choices. Serotek may have lost its prime programmer, but I do believe their intention is to continue supporting its products. Now that may change in future, but for the moment, buying DocuScan Plus should be OK. You can certainly wait for the Jaws upgrade. Ann P. -- Ann K. Re: cost of open book
Ann Parsons
Hi all,
It never was $150.00 it was probably a typo. It's always been $1,000.00 or thereabouts. Before you fork over any money for OB, take a good, hard look at both Kurzie and DocuScan Plus. Kurzie is the creme de la creme of OCR programs, used by a majority of those who scan books for bookshare. It has an excellent track record and is produced by a company who does nothing but produce OCR software. DocuScan Plus by Serotek is an excellent buy at $300.00 and works very well for the needs of a home user who wants to read mail the occasional book or newsletter. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of Kurzweil 1000, or Open Book, but it does very well with all those .pdf files we keep getting these days. It stores your documents in The Cloud so you always have them. It doesn't even balk at pink paper. If you are going to start volunteering as a scanner for Bookshare or if you have lots and lots of books you want to scan, I'd go for Kurzie. You've got choices here, and you need to know what they are. Ann P. -- Ann K. Thank you! By the way, I also like mac and cheese, and let's not forget mac with stewed Italian seasoned tomatoes, yellow onions, garlic, mushrooms green peppers mixed in with grated cheese! A lot of good vegetables! From another previous message someone said, Yeah but then you get gouged with interest and other surcharges, which makes the phone more expensive over the term of the contract lol. So it's probably cheaper relatively speaking to just plunk down your credit card and go on that canned tuna diet.
