I'm sorry to say, but spending another dollar 50 a month for a brand new iPhone I don't think so. I'll wait till my carrier tells me that I can get in for his lowest 27 bucks a month. Because that's what I'm paying right now. That's way too much Apple can keep it.

Yeah but then you get gouged with interest and other surcharges, which makes the phone more expensive over the term of the contract lol. So it's probably cheaper relatively speaking to just plunk down your credit card and go on that canned tuna diet.

Hi all,

Yes, KNFB Reader is a good program, and you can add it to the choices.

Serotek may have lost its prime programmer, but I do believe their intention is to continue supporting its products. Now that may change in future, but for the moment, buying DocuScan Plus should be OK.

You can certainly wait for the Jaws upgrade.

Re: cost of open book

Hi all,

It never was $150.00 it was probably a typo. It's always been $1,000.00 or thereabouts.

Before you fork over any money for OB, take a good, hard look at both Kurzie and DocuScan Plus.

Kurzie is the creme de la creme of OCR programs, used by a majority of those who scan books for bookshare. It has an excellent track record and is produced by a company who does nothing but produce OCR software.

DocuScan Plus by Serotek is an excellent buy at $300.00 and works very well for the needs of a home user who wants to read mail the occasional book or newsletter. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of Kurzweil 1000, or Open Book, but it does very well with all those .pdf files we keep getting these days. It stores your documents in The Cloud so you always have them. It doesn't even balk at pink paper.

If you are going to start volunteering as a scanner for Bookshare or if you have lots and lots of books you want to scan, I'd go for Kurzie. You've got choices here, and you need to know what they are.

Two hundred dollars for facial recognition.  I’m sure that you will be more secure than thumb print.  What’s next, eye recognition.  Are they in the CIA?

Gerald,

So Apple announced the much anticipated IPhone 8 today, and it willsell for $799.  Not bad, as I paid that exact same amount back in 2014 for an iPhone 6!  Aw yeah, this Apple lover is licking her chops all right!  I’d love to get my hands on these new phones!  T-Mobile has a great offer of $300 on a trade in, and free upgrade to a 256 bit.  Aw you can sure bet I just might take them up on this!  macaroni and cheese with fish for dinner tonight for me!  Thank you for the idea!

Janet

Remember how everyone was hoping that the price of an IPhone would eventually come down as manufacturing costs were reduced by economies of scale?  Well, guess what?  Just the opposite is happening.  Apple announced the much anticipated IPhone 8 today, and it willsell for $799.  And the new IPhone X, which features facial recognition will sell for a ridiculous $999.  But hey,all the Apple lovers on this list are probably just licking their chops to get their hands on one of them, even though they may have to go on a macaroni and cheese diet to afford one.

Thank you! By the way, I also like mac and cheese, and let's not forget mac with stewed Italian seasoned tomatoes, yellow onions, garlic, mushrooms green peppers mixed in with grated cheese! A lot of good vegetables! From another previous message someone said, Yeah but then you get gouged with interest and other surcharges, which makes the phone more expensive over the term of the contract lol. So it's probably cheaper relatively speaking to just plunk down your credit card and go on that canned tuna diet.
Janet says, don't be in that much of a hurry to plunk down a credit card. There is another option, free interest! Well, no tuna fish diet for me, but I also love solid white tuna packed in water, well, another idea for lunch for tomorrow! You guys are wonderful! Lol!

If I were an Apple lover and fell in love with what is on offer, I would get it. So what If I have to eat Macaroni and cheese for a time? I got what I want. I can always go out to earn back what I spent right? It's my own money. Art collectors pay millions to get their favorite painting. True they get it for investment urposes perhaps, and true they might not have to resort to a cheese and macaroni diet, but hey!
what's wrong with Cheese and macaroni anyways? both have got carbo and protines in abundance which still allows my body to function, even if my very own hard earned cash has been sacrificed to get the thing I love.

Gerald, my restless legs happened to have wandered into an AT&T store today
for what I don't really know. Whilst there, I took the time to check out
the Galaxy Note8; it's a warping $949 and change if you purchase it
outright. Hmm, I didn't want macaroni and cheese with fish for dinner like
my sister Janet; so, I convinced my restless legs to walk and wander out
just they did going into the store!

Oh BTW, did I mention that the Galaxy Note8 runs on Android Oreo? A good
snack for some, but I don't really eat cookies and Oreo may have much too
much sugar for my liking!

I'll drink yesterday's wine, reuse the bottle for newer wine and stay merry!

Sincerely,
Olusegun
