You could check to see if there's something up with your indexing by doing the following,
Press the windows key + the letter R key to open the run command line, Copy this line using the Ctrl + the letter C key to copy to clipboard,
%LocalAppData%\Packages\windows.immersivecontrolpanel_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState
Then paste it in the run command line with the Ctrl + the letter V key to paste it in, then press the enter key.
An explorer window will open showing the folder named indexed. Use the context key or the shift key + the F10 key and arrow down to properties and press the enter key.
Tab to the advanced option and press the enter key.
Press the spacebar to check the box that says, "Allow files in this folder to have contents indexed in addition to file properties"
Tab to the bottom and press the enter key on the ok button.
If that box wasn't checked then a progress bar will appear as your pc is being indexed.
When done, tab to the bottom and press the enter key on that ok button.
Try your search again and see if that helped.
If that didn't work or the box was already check, you could try the following.
Press the windows key and type:
indexing options
This should give you the indexing options in the control panel, press the enter key to open it.
Tab down to the troubleshooter and press the enter key, then follow the prompts.

Help with SendSpace

Happy Thanksgiving!
Tonight after running security, etc on my PC I went to SS to sign in. Where there had been around 17 links or so to sign in, there were over 400+ I have SSpro and on the sign in page there is a movies folder that I did not create, but there are a few movies that I have. What do I do to get this folder off my sign in page and away from my account? Sincere Thanks for your help! Nancy

Re: converting doc files into txt or rtf format
Michael Boyd <mike122061@...>
Hi Joanne,
Go to:
http://www.nchsoftware.com/software/free-downloads.html
and download the free version of Doczillion document converter. This will convert just about any document file format to another. Each time you open the program after installing it, you will have to verify that you are using it for non-commercial use by clicking on a button, but the software will work from that point.
Happy Thanksgiving, Michael

I don't have Microsoft Word on my windows 7 computer and I have some DOC files. One tried to open in Adobe, and then sometimes there is a word thing like a word starter that pops up. Is there a converter, since I use word pad and note pad, that will convert these doc files?

Hi
Joanne,
If you open a
Word document in WordPad it'll be almost unreadable do to all the formatting
that Word puts into a document. Your best bet is to copy the contents of
the Word document to the clipboard, & paste into a new text file using
Notepad. Pasting the text into Notepad will remove all the
formatting, & then you can copy the text from the text file & paste it
into Wordpad, & save it a as an RTF file or, just save it as a text
file
Take care. Mike. Dodgers, try again next year! Sent from my iBarstool. Arguing with a woman is like reading a software license agreement. In the end you have to ignore everything, & click I agree.

Hi
Maureen,
Carlos was 1 of
the most knowledgeable & helpful blind computer technicians, teachers, &
trouble shooters the blind community has known in a very long time. He
worked for a local university in New York, New York somewhere, & has guided
the blind computer users over several of these lists' for many years! He
is the creator of this list. He lost his eyes when he was somewhere around
3 to 5 years old, if I remember correctly, to an eye disease that I don't
recall. Anyways, we lost Carlos to liver cancer October 16 of this
year. In short, we lost a damn fine man! He taught all of his list
members / students many things, & he will be sorely missed in more ways than
1! REST IN PEACE Carlos, & thank you for
everything!

Re: Android Versus IOS
Jeremy <icu8it2@...>
Most definitely great points, but it's worth always keeping in mind that with hardware, especially the real cheap stuff, you really do get what you pay for. This might not be as noticeable for someone who doesn't need to rely on the extra gestures that we typically use as part of the screenreaders on our Mobile devices, but it can make quite the difference. IOS's voiceover has always been really good in that even on the lower end hardware, such as the older Phones, when you'd normally expect the overhead of a Screenreader to add a tiny bit of sluggishness to using the interface, the experience was always pretty smooth. I can't say the same for using Talkback though and I've tried different Android devices off and on, starting with the Galaxy S3 which ran ICS. This isn't to say that the hardware itself is to blame, I think that perhaps it's differences in the user interfaces the different Manufactures of Android devices might decide to use and whatever, but in some cases, you can't exactly just go and change that. As you point out, Android is awesome when it comes to having a large variety of things your device might support, SD cards, keyboards, my personal favorite, an O2 sensor on my S7 which I can use to measure my O2 saturation, but it does take some reading and asking questions to make sure you get a device that will work for you. I personally really like my S7. I like that I was able to purchase an SD card and expand my memory for basically a fart in the wind compared to what it'd of costed me to upgrade my IPhone, it's waterproof and I've got eloquence as my TTS, but oh my goodness do I miss that little extra snappiness that I always had with Voiceover that Talkback just doesn't give me. :)
