Re: Potential work a round for the Windows 10 upgrade errors

Hi Joseph & Blaster,

I had Microsoft Accessibility upgrade 1 of my Win 7 systems this morning, & even they had a couple of problems.  Eventually they ran a Windows 10 ISO file, but that only worked after the upgrade quit on them as well, but it turned out they had to uninstall MSSE to get the upgrade to get past the 21% mark.  After uninstalling MSSE it finished, but I don't like this system being upgraded.  I'm going to do a fresh install because there's just too much crap that came along from the Windows7 system!  LOL

Thanks much for keeping us updated with the latest possible error fixing reports.
Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

Hi,
Found a potential solution: the same one posted on Win10 forum. Looks like a community-wide directive is in order.
Cheers,

Thanks for that info Joseph. The pc I was working on that issued that missing .dll error, didn't even have that .dll installed anywhere on the hard drive. I did an entire hard drive search and it didn't show up. Many gaming sites mention that you may need to download that .dll and add it to the folder of an installed game that was throwing that error on launch. So I'm not sure of the origin of this .dll.

M-Braille keyboard frustration

Sharon Hooley

Hi,

I am frustrated with the M-Braille third-party keyboard. Sometimes I have a battle to get myself back into where I can send email,, text messages, etc, or when I want to change to the native qwerty keyboard. It doesn't seem to matter much what iPhone or Ios and M-Braille version I'm using. y is M-Braille so picky? I use 3 fingers to slide toward the bottom or top. Any tips?

Thanks,

Sharon H.

Hello:

Another interesting way to get to the list of programs where you can interact like you did with windows 8 and earlier is to go to the run dialogue with Windows Key + R and type the following

shell:appsfolder

You will get a Windows Explorer window with all the applications both from within Windows and third party.  The one thing you can do from this interface is to create a desktop chortcut as you did in the past.  With Windows 10, from the list of all apps or programs and features, you cannot create a desktop shortcut.  Try this alternative and you have the exact same interface you did in earlier versions of Windows.

Those are not fast forward commands nor are they go back commands.  B is move forward to the next track in a playlist or, in this case, in a folder, where behavior is identical to a playlist.  Z is move back to the previous track in a playlist.  X is start play.  The letter v is stop play.  Shift z moves you to the first track in the playlist.  Shift b moves you to the last track.  The letter c is pause and pressed again, it's play.

Hi all

Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates this fine day!

Well I am slowly getting my programs together.

Still having issues with skype and signing in but oh well.

I want to know the following please.

-how to make win amp play an entire folder

I use to use the key alt, f and P and it would play.

-how does win amp keep playing my folder instead of stopping after each song?

E mail:

When sending a new e mail jaws is not completing the address, it does not even show up and it is in my contacts.

For example I have to manually type each address out.

When I first got windows 10 I had to type the address for this group manually once or reply to someone so that it could remember who I want.

I did the key F3 where my contacts are and all my address are there.

Why do they not show up when I start a new e mail?

-How do I get jaws to announce “delete” when deleting an e mail?

Thank you so much for your patience, kindness and for not letting me feel alone during this transition to windows 10

Thanks again

Outlook doesn't get addresses for autocomplete from contacts.  they are stored somewhere else.  I don't know if you can import contacts into this other area or tell Outlook to use contacts for aut3ocomplete.

Until you get the autocomplete problem solved, it might be very helpful to know how to search for contacts.  I don't use Outlook and I can't tell you.  You can search for contacts, then start a message with a contact.  As I said, I don't use Outlook so I can't tell you any more.

I will try to do what you suggested

By any chance and forgive me again if I am not clear or correct but how can I make winamp paus the song by pressing the space bar?

And how can I make the song that is playing move forward and packwards?

Her is what I use to do and it worked…

Pressing the letter b would move the to the next song

Pressing x would go back a song

Pressing the space bar would pause

Thanks

That's a completely different question.  You want to know not how to play a folder but how to make Winamp play continuously in a folder.

Open preferences, control p.

Press home.

Then Down arrow a few times until you get to playlist.

Tab until you get to a check box that says

Manual playlist advance

Uncheck it with the space bar.  Press escape.

You are now in the main window and folders or any other playlist will play as expected.

I visited the Piriform Builds site to download the portable version of CCleaner 5.38 so that I could avoid any possibility of surreptitiously installing Avast as well.  But when I activated the download link under the heading for CCleaner Portable, I was taken to the page for the standard version of CCleaner instead of initiating the file download.  And once I was on the page for the standard version, I figured that if I initiated the download, I might get stuck with Avast, so I closed the page and said the heck with it.  But under the CCleaner Portable heading is a heading for CCleaner Slim.  So my question is this:  Will downloading CCleaner Slim avoid installing Avast?  And what is the difference between the Portable and Slim versions?  Thanks.

Sugar

Hi Carlos, I sure wish you were still here.  It seems so unfair that you can't be with your loved ones and friends especially at this time of the year like so many others, but I know it's not for me to say what is fair and what isn't, and I know if you were still here, you would be the first one to tell me that!  Smile!  Besides, I'm sure your in a better place.  Just so you know you are definitely  missed by many I'm sure, and we haven't forgotten you!  WE haven't heard anything on the list from Melissa though, and it would be nice to hear from her, just maybe to say hi, and let us know how she is doing now as many of us are concerned about her, and she is the closest one we have to you!  My heart goes out to her.  I keep her and your family in my Prayers as well as you.
Hey Carlos, the list is in deep discussion about your favorite subject, Windows!  Do you have your new home all wired up yet!

God bless you Carlos may you rest in Peace.
Your forever friend Janet

Mr. Dicey, you are a reason why I will enjoy being a senior
when I make it that far! Like you, rather than grumble
about list traffic, I have learned to take something away
that has made me a better person overall! So many folks
here are like brothers and sisters to me and, though our
paths have not crossed, I love them all dearly. Why? Even
when I have been stupid, they have made me laugh heartily
and have sent me on my way each day with great hope than I
had yesterday. No, they don't know that and that's why I
happily share this fact here.

I look forward to a great 2018 as I surge forward to take
technology in the mainstream in particular by its bulls'
horns and keep forging ahead.

With that, I join Mr. Dicey in wishing one and all the
meriest Christmas ever, and the happiest New Year too!
Remember, I am sneaking through tonight collecting my gifts
from underneath your Christmas trees; just don't close off
the chimney so I won't have to come in noisily! To Chief
Gene, thanks for stepping up into the space vacated by our
FAIRLESS MODERATOR, a man I fondly address as General
Carlos! General Carlos, how's Christmas up there? I'm sure
all the tech stuff are running at top-notch speed. Your
memory shall never be erased from the heart of this bug pin
whom you kept laughing with so much fun! Before too long, I
am looking forward to honoring and memorialising you in my
own way! Thanks again one and all, have fun with family,
friends and well wishers, and let's together make 2018
another proud year of sticking together and helping to make
each other better than ever possible.

Sincerely,

Merry Christmas to all you wonderful folks!
It is wonderful to be able to go to a list group, where I
can get assistance, no matter how silly it may seem to some,
but it will not be to me!
I am 71 years old, and have been through a lot with
computers, but it is getting more and more complicated.
Yes, since those Apple 2 computers back in the mid 1970's!
Lots of technology has gone through my little brain!
Changes, changes, changes!
Whoa!
Well, so far, I can still use my machine, and with your
assistance once in a while, I will continue to do so!
Thanks very much everyone.
Much appreciated!
With Best Regards,
God Bless,

Re: Issues with Google Hangouts and Still Seeking Programfor Voice and Video Calls

Eleni Vamvakari

that's great! But are you using it with Windows, Firefox, and NVDA?
If not, then it really doesn't matter how much you can do with it,
because you're using it on a completely different platform, which is
not the same as the website!

Ileni, HangOuts works like a charm! Of course, it is used only on my

I've done lately with it:

I obtained a GoogleVoice number to use for after-hours's calls as is
required for my line of business. After configuring it to my liking, I
handed it over to Google HangOuts and deleted the GoogleVoice app from my
devices. Now, I can answer all calls to my GoogleVoice number via
HangOuts,
and, I can also make calls with my GoogleVoice number from inside HangOuts!

Love it, keeps my job extremely simple!
