Assuming that you have the Status Bar turned on in Windows Explorer by way of the View menu, you can press Control+Spacebar to deselect all items in the folder: the total number of files is then displayed on the Status Bar. In JAWS, you press JAWSKey+PageDown to read the status bar.

I am running win 7 Pro and jaws 16. I download my BARD Books to my Download folder and then put them in a BARD folder until I'm ready to read. Also, anything that I download goes into that same downloads folder and then I sort them into their own folders. Since I've had the new computer, If I go to the BARD (or any of the other folders) and hit enter to view the various books (files) in the folder, Jaws only tells me that there is 1 file even when I know there might be 25. What do I need to change to get jaws to tell me the entire number of files in the folder instead of just saying 1? This problem might not annoy anyone else, but it sure bothers me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nancy

I am told that Hadley has a six-lesson course in Unified English Braille,

Re: serch engines question

The main Google site isn't cluttered if you know
how to use it properly. I don't know how you are using it. Do you
know the quick navigation commands your screen-reader provides? it's very
likely that h is used to move by heading. Perform a search and when the
results page comes up, type h repeatedly to move from result to result. You
will have to type h a few times to get to the first result.

Does anyone else use a search engine that is not as

What's Up With Braille Weather Underground?
Ron Canazzi
Hi Group,
A year or so ago, I heard that Braille Weather Underground was being discontinued. In fact for several months now, the forecast header has been giving erroneous dates such as the weather for today under my zip code is for January 31, 2015. However, the forecast is somehow being updated. That is to say that ever since this anomaly, the weather forecast that is given as well as some of the dates in the sub sections are all current and correct. Does anyone know the official status of the braille Weather Underground page? Thanks for any information. -- Signature: They ask me if I'm Happy, I say "yes." They ask me "How happy are you?" I say: "I'm as happy as a stowaway chimpanzee on a banana boat!"

Sometimes the existing drivers become corrupted. You can try USBDeview

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html to uninstall existing instances of the drivers. LOL and it shouldn't usually take a hammer to open those enclosures. Maybe some prying with a screwdriver.

Unfortunately I don't see any screws or anything so I can open the enclosure up and pull out the drive to mount it directly. It looks like i'll have to break it open with a hammer or something. What fun! Wanton destruction.

Re: strangeness with a USB key
Carlos
The reason I suggested cleaning the drive before reformatting it again is because often in my experience when accessing a drive goes wrong, the partition table may become corrupted. Corruption in the partition table may cause sluggishness or other quirky behavior when accessing the drive subsequently.
