DirectvNow trouble

Melissa Hambleton

Just recently, DirectvNow changed the website since they added DVR. I always used the website from my PC and use JAWS 18. Now with the addition with DVR, I can’t get anything to play and if I search for a channel no search results come up at all and I’m just really lost on the website now.

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions to help using the website on the PC…didn’t have too much trouble before using the website before DVR was added.

Hi everyone:

Lately I have been getting a message on my Gmail account informing me that I am running low on storage space. I’m getting this message when I go to the Gmail website. I think this might be referring to my Google drive but I’m not sure as I think there’s only one final left in my Google Drive right now. I got this message several months ago and I deleted many files from Google drive. I stopped getting that message for a long time when I did that.

There are many emails in my Gmail account because Gmail seems to be virtually unlimited. There are many emails that I have not bothered to delete. I know that Google Drive gives us 15 gigs of free storage. The message is telling me that I am almost at 15 gigs. I think we get much more storage in Gmail. What do you think is happening? Am I running out of storage on Gmail or Google drive? How can I solve this problem. How can I clear lots of storage in Gmail quickly without deleting a bunch of individual emails?

Re: Voice recorder

Hi Mike, I think that using a mobile phone with a recording app of your choice is vetter than using a digital voice recorder.
You can put the phone on offline mode to avoid interferance.
You can easily manage your recordings.

OK, I know this has been discussed a million times, but now I am looking for an affordable Digital voice recorder that I can use to record meetings, lectures and other things of about an hour to an hour and a half long, as well as being totally accessible. I would love to be able to create folders which can be used on the recorder to      organize my recordings. I would also want to be able to use a SD or Micro-SD card in the recorder for extended memory capacity. I have used the Olympus DP-201 for years, but they are only marginally accessible. They have 2 GB of built-in memory, no SD card compatibility, and I cannot file my recordings away in folders for organizational purposes, but I can record and playback messages. The recorder will only record up to about 10 minutes at one time though, and I need something that will do more. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: subject line insertion

Yes, your message reached the list.  This won't just benefit this list, but any list you participate in.  As people say these days, good job.

The insertion of the word spam either is being done by your spam filter or by someone else's spam filter before you get the message.  If you receive mail from an e-mail list, and you are reading a reply, someone else's spam filter may have done this.  If you are directly receiving mail and this happens, its your spam filter.

When I say it's your spam filter, I should say that I don't know if your Internet provider's spam filter might be doing it.  I don't know if any Internet provider's spam filters do.  But if you are using a spam filter on your computer, if you let us know which one, we might be able to tell you how to stop this behavior.  If it appears to be your Internet provider's spam filter, if you tell us your provider, I don't know if you will get information here but it's worth a try.

Wonder what app or utility is inserting

***SPAM***

into many of my incoming mail subject lines?  It's just extra stuff to listen to and I can usually figure out what ones are spam without being told.  I'm using win xp pro with outlook express.

There!  I actually originated a message; if I got the address correct.

It could be that you could contact Microsoft Disability, and
they can adjust that to where you can read the number of

Hi all. I just now started using jaws 2018 with outlook. I
am wondering a few things though. What is the keystroke to
see how many e mails arein the inbox? Also I know that
control y or alt y brings up your list of in boxes but other
then that I am not shure what other keystrokes I need to
know apart from sending the e mails I know how to do that.
Many thanks. From Mich.

Re: questiona bout useing outlook with jaws 2018

I believe I saw discussion on a list I follow a number of months ago about the status line problem.  As I recall, this is a problem some people have with Outlook in it's current version.  I don't recall if any solution was found.  Have you tried maximizing the window?  Aside from that, Does JAWS do what it usually does in lists?  If you let information read completely for a list item, does it give a number of the total number, such as 5 of twenty?

Also, I don't use word but there is another way to get to the list of mail boxes other than I believe it's control y. Someone who uses Outlook should be able to tell you how it is done,  If you read current line while on the inbox folder, you may well hear the number of messages.  Or if you move to inbox in the treeview from another folder you may well hear the number announced.

However, none of these ways will likely tell you the number of just unread messages.  The status line may but the ways I'm discussing probably won't.

Well you may want to make sure that you are using the latest build of JAWS18, but with JAWS18 I have never experienced this. I have only experienced this with JAWS2018 and it was fixed a while ago.

Re: Google Chrome Crashes when loading websites on the computer

It sounds as though Chrome is closing, I have no idea why.  Try this:
When you follow a link, press and hold shift and press enter while doing so.  That opens the page in a new window.  You may then have two windows opened but it may stop the program from closing and it would probably be more convenient to close an extra window by alt tabbing to it and closing it than by running the program again and going back to the web page again.

Hey. Has anyone experienced this issue? When I try to go to a website on Google Chrome, it takes me back to the desktop and I can't find Google Chrome anywhere in the running applications. I'm using Jaws professional at school with Windows 10.
