Hi Mitch,

Outlook with Jaws should tell you how many unread emails are in your Inbox and any other folder that may contain them such as  your Deleted Items and your Junk Email folders.

The only key strokes that I regularly use are the Delete key, which will delete a message from the message list, such as in your Inbox. I also use Control + N to compose a new email.

Hi all. I just now started using jaws 2018 with outlook. I am wondering a few things though. What is the keystroke to see how many e mails arein the inbox? Also I know that control y or alt y brings up your list of in boxes but other then that I am not shure what other keystrokes I need to know apart from sending the e mails I know how to do that. Many thanks. From Mich.

Dave, I just had to solve the captcha this morning and the audio challenge worked fine for me. I know this app is a bit flaky but I can usually get it to work. If you can’t get the audio challenge, I don’t know of any choice other than to have sighted assistance. Maybe you should try the audio once again.
Sorry I can’t be of more help.

Re: Figuring out which Wy-Fi Network to hook up too?

I should add that there are connections that show as unsecured which, when you connect, require you to open your browser and enter information on a web page.  I don't remember details about this since I have very seldom worked with such pages but that is another thing that may happen if you try to use a connection that you have to log into in some way.

I would think that the name of a business such as a coffee shop should be made obvious by the owners.  Whatever the case, do you hear an indication of signal strength as you go through the names?  Since you were in the parking lot, the signal would be expected to be in the strongest range, excellent.  I would also expect that the connection would be shown as unsecured.  I'm not sure about that because I have very seldom used such public WI-FI signals.  but the signal strength and what I would expect to be an unsecured connection should be very good clues.

You can try connecting to as many signals as you want.  All that will happen if you can't use the signal is that you will be asked for a password, which you won't know.

Subject: [TechTalk] Figuring out which Wy-Fi Network to hook up too?

Last night, had a situation where I could not figure out which Wy-Fi
network to hook up to.

Turned on my System, and was given a list of local Wy-Fi Networks, and
it was a long list too.  Lots of Small business have Wy-Fi connections,
and was getting a Wy-Fi Signal from several of these businesses.  Some
as far away as three or four
Blocks!

Had no idea a Wy-Fi signal could have that sort of range.

Had signals coming from several stores, and what I would guess were
several homes or apartments.

Some had names, and I could easily tell what signals belonged to who.
Such as the one for the Laundromat, and the Bar next to it etc.  But
most Signals had names that didn't mean a thing, and I didn't see the
one I was looking for.

Is there a way to know which Wy-Fi Signals go with what location?   Say
I am at a Coffee Shop, and I am wanting to connect to the Coffee "
Shop's Free Wy-Fi.   And the Shop's Signal isn't obvious in the list of
possible Signals to hook up to.  How do you know which one to use?  And
I wasn't inside the shop, but outside it, in the parking lot.

Thanks for any advice,

Grumpy Dave

Zoom's great. Jonathan "I write books  about everything" Mosen has a book called "Meet Me in the Cloud" that explains it all. I'll save you the money by saying it works well with everything--JAWS, NVDA, iOS, Mac, no add-on or bolted-on access solutions required, I use it daily.

Locating Sources in TW Blue

Rich De Steno <ironrock@...>

I have successfully used TW Blue with NVDA as my Twitter client for years.  I have not added a source to follow in a long time. How can I locate a source within TW Blue, such as a news organization, and then "follow" them so that their tweets come to my TW Blue program as do my many other sources?  I have checked all the TW Blue documentation and cannot find this answer.

They’ve redesigned the whole website and app. It’s not just because of the DVR. It’s a whole new design… I didn’t have much luck getting around the website very easily in the past either. But now it’s a nightmare! It worked well on the Apple TV, but now the guide section is in accessible… Everybody’s giving me the runaround on who supposed to fix it… I’m going to be looking into other options...

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions to help using the website on the PC…didn’t have too much trouble before using the website before DVR was added.

Re: Google Drive running out of storage space.

Most of the time I use the Gmail website. The rest of the time I use the native mail app for iOS.

I suspect that it is probably Google drive that is running out of space. I have had Gmail since at least 2005 and I always just archived everything. That was never a problem up until pretty recently when I started getting those messages.

Again, I’m not sure why am having that problem because I am only seeing one final left in my Google drive because I deleted many files several weeks ago when I saw this problem the first time. I will have to look for the trash folder in Google drive and try to clean it out as well. I cleaned out my trash folder in Gmail earlier today. I will see what happens the next time I’m near a computer.

Thank you,

Victor

Re: Google Drive running out of storage space.

Robin Frost

Hi,
You don't say which client if any you use to manage your GMail on a daily basis. I just wanted to chime in and mention that there's a known issue with GMail and Microsoft Outlook for Windows only note this is only for Outlook on Windows where deletion of messages I.E. sending them to the trash isn't working properly. Rather it's deleting and archiving them meaning it's leaving a copy of them in the all mail folder which over time does indeed eat up space and one doesn't realize it till it's significant enough to be noticeable or generate such a message. This is specific to Outlook for Windows and Microsoft is aware of it I assure you. They hear from me almost monthly for updates on it. Sadly a fix hasn't been forth coming as of yet but if you use clients other than Outlook and it's doing this it'd be interesting to know which ones.
Take good care.
Robin

Re: Cases and keyboards for my newest iPad 9.7

Steve Matzura

I just got the Logitech K780, which can be used with Mac OS, iOS, Windows and Android devices. It's more than just a keyboard. It is a solid, heavy base with a slot and about an inch of hard rubber mounted on the back of the base which is made to put an iPad into, mounting it at just the right angle for visual viewing. I am using it for my 1.5" iPad Pro, so I imagine your 9.7" model would fit handily and easily. It even fits in its case, which really impressed me when I tried it. The K780 is just under sixty dollars U.S. and comes with Logitech's normal tiny USB dongle for using it on another computer that may not be equipped with a Bluetooth interface.
