Re: taking the Wd My passport drive a part

Hi.  I am facing the same issue.  The drive spins normally, but I can't access the drives.  In fact, I have two WD drives with the same issue, and so I actually want to find out if cleaning the drives internal parts will solve the issue.  Cheers!

I changed the USB, the old one that came with the HD did the same

Thanks and hope you get the answer you need. I don't have much of a

Hi. I am wanting to open up my Western Digital drive to access inside
of it. However, it is covered entirely by two plastic coverings sealed
tightly together with no screws to unscrew as a way to detach them. Is
there a way to open up the plastic covering to maybe clean the drive's
magnetic head and motor? Thanks and cheers!

No. It does the same with both. It's just that I can easily access
the hotspot to turn it off and back on if necessary.

Also, and my apologies for not including it in my previous message. I don't know about the particular HD in question that can't be used wirelessly with the Windows10 machine, but if it's anything like the WesternDigital MyBook NAS that I used to use, it had support for more than just the Samba protocol. I've not tried to configure a Samba connection on Windows10 yet, but if it doesn't work for that particular drives network connection, I'd look and see if it supports a different protocol such as FTP, etc.

I've also herd that once you open an HD and expose it to the air, mostly because the dust and whatever that might be floating around that it's pretty much a done deal that somethings going to get screwed up unless you've got a super clean environment to open it up in. Even just a few specs of dust that might end up on one of the platters would not be a good thing at all for the HD.

Hello Olusegun,

You should look at the Docusign.com website. This is a pretty good service that I have used in the past to sign some financial documents and forward them to a bank in another part of the country. Good luck in your search should this not be to your satisfaction.

Check to be sure the Wireless (Wi-Fi) has not been turned off either on your computer or your router. Many routers have a small button on the back of them that will turn the Wi-Fi on or off. As for the computer, you should be able to see Wi-Fi in your network settings and it will be checked if on or not checked if off.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the AP, but I have never encountered this issue in 7. Usually, as you said, I can simply hit connect if I'm switching from one two the other, and it connects automatically. If I don't switch, it's still connected when I turn on the machine. This is confusing.

On 31/05/2018, Jeremy <icu8it2@gmail.com> wrote:
Not certain, but might you have the option to automatically connect to

where you'd tell it to automatically reconnect upon being disconnected

10, but I do seem to remember that the option is there. I do not
remember though if using the option to manually connect to an AP also
requires that you reenter the key or if it only requires that once,
but at least here on 10, it remembers my key and I just have to
manually click the connect button when I wish to connect it. Also, you
said that you need to reenter the key upon restarting the computer,
but does it automatically reconnect you if for some reason the AP
drops, so if the router were to lose power and then come back on?
Depending on if it only does it on restarting or if it does it both on
a restart and when something else causes the AP to be disconnected
might point to it being more than just the option to have it
automatically connect to the AP checked or not. As for what that other reason might be though, I can't say.

Regardless, it's good to have a file with your usernames and passwords
