The first generation echo and first/second generation echo dot
has 7 far field microphones, I think the second generation echo has 8 far field
microphones. This is how they can understand you from another room, or when
they are playing audio.
I don't know what is meant by seven speakers. does that mean seven
speakers you can attach or Blue Tooth speakers? I wouldn't think it
would mean having seven speakers in the unit itself. I don't have any of
these products and I don't know if the full size Echo has more features or can
run more skills than the dot. But without more information, I wouldn't
make any decision based on the number of speakers listed.
No unit of the size of the Echo would have seven built-in speakers. And
if you are going to play whatever you buy through your stereo,
the quality of the internal speaker is irrelevant.

Hi Mike,
Thank you as this answers quite a few of my
questions, and this is good information! So if the Echo has 7 speakers,
and the Dot has 1 speaker, this sounds like the Echo would have much more
quality sound, and that does explain why the Amazon Echo cost more
money. So I can just tell Alexa to enable several different skills, wow,
I like this! Smile!
Thank you also for the phone number as I think I will
give them a call to find out more about this Visa card and its rewards.
Amazon says if I apply for this Visa card, I will automatically get $50
off of my first purchase, not bad! LOL!
Thank you again, as I always appreciate the
help.

Just to help a leettle bit. The Amazon Echo has
7 speakers, whereas the Echo Dots have only 1 speaker. As for acquiring
skills, you can ask Alexa to enable probably hundreds if not thousands of
skills, but if it's not a skill Alexa can enable for you there is plenty of
help out there to learn how.
Also, the Amazon / Chase Visa card information is
very accessible from a telephone. You can make payments, schedule

Hi, Just to clarify the braille is not on the card but they do have the old style orange card with raised numbers as contrasted with the newer all metal card whose numbers can't easily be felt. but yes on two separate brailled documents you'd get your card number and your expiration date and security code from the back of the card. Hi, I just wanted to mention in the interest of accessibility for the blind that Chase bank the issuer of this card still offers upon request the older style of card with embossed numbers. They also offer for the blind card holders upon request what they call a dual letter. This is a pair of brailled letters coming under separate cover the first containing your card number in braille along with its expiration date. The second arriving bearing the security code info found on the back. The separate these two pieces of information even in Braille for security's sake. I hope that helps anyone who might have or be considering this card. Tale good care. Robin

I have had an Amazon Visa for about two years and like it quite a lot. To benefit the most from the card you really need to be an Amazon Prime member which costs $119 per year. For that membership you get free Amazon videos, tons of free music, free 2 day shipping on most items and a 5% rewards for purchases made at Amazon. In addition even if not a member you get 2% at restaurants, service stations and drugstores and 1% anywhere else. If you did not want to get the membership you could still get the card, take advantage of the $50 gift card and just hold it for the required time. Best is if you only charge what you can pay in full on each statement. If you manage it correctly it is a great deal, but as Michael said if not managed it is not so great just like any other credit card. Marie

I went on to the Amazon web site, and they are giving me a offer in which I don't know anything about, so I want to ask those who might be more familiar with the Amazon Visa Card. I'd herd that there were issues in accessibility with the pumps, but
I'd of figured that at least one CGM device might come with some

Issues With Eloquence SAPI 5 from AT Guys On Windows 10 Version 18.03
Hi Group,
A few weeks ago, I had reported that Jim Kitchen's games would not work on Windows 10 version 18.03. I never thought to check anything concerning the message I received: "Please register this product." It turns out that Jim Kitchen's games weren't the issue. I guess I must be getting old, but this registration thing finally (after more than 2 weeks) clicked in my head. I had SAPI 5 Eloquence from AT Guys set as the default voice for SAPI 5. When I tried running it using NVDA, I got the same: "please register this product" Message.
My questin is: has anybody else had this issue with losing the registration for their Eloquence from AT Guys and how is it rectified? I have already tried reentering the activation code, but the server returns and 'already registered' message. I have sent a message to support@atguys.com, but have not received a response so far.
Thanks for any help on this issue.

Re: Amazon Music Question Please.
I'm not Marie, but here's my take on the two services, Amazon and Googles music. As to which service offers more, maybe there's an actual number that says that one offers slightly more music than the other, but I think they're pretty comparable. The weird thing about Amazon though is there seems to be two different parts of their service that offers music, one of them is the one that comes with Amazon prime which is kinda crappy in that it really doesn't have much to offer and then there's the unlimited one that's the one you'd probably compare to Apple music, google music, whatever. I don't recall exactly what we pay for prime and what the crappier music thing was costing us but I know that when my wife upgraded to the unlimited one, we're paying about the same as what I pay for my google music subscription, so about 10 bucks a month. I've never messed with the Amazon music stuff on my IOS device to see how accessible it is with VO, but my wife is able to create playlists, add and remove songs, play alboms, pretty much exactly the same as I can on my google account. I might even say that Amazon's ability to create a radio station from a song that you're listening to, so to make a station of related music works better than it does on google, but I tend not to use that feature as much on google.
While Amazon seems to work perfectly for my wife, something that was pretty important to me and why I decided to go with google instead was the inclusion of Youtube red as part of the google music plan. Since I watch quite a bit of Youtube and red lets you watch it with no ads plus it has a few other things too, I decided I liked it a little bit more. It does sorta suck though that Google devices and Amazon devices don't play friendly with each others services better, but I would definitely recommend trying out the trials on both of the services either way to see which one you might like.

Can you tell me what you think about their music subscription? Such as do they have a large variety of music? So one could create their own play list? How much does it cost per month, or does it depend on different factors? I'm asking this because when I do purchase an Echo or Dot, I will more than likely also purchase Amazon music. I currently have Apple music on my phone, but will switch when I purchase the Echo or Dot. So if someone is using Amazon's music, would you please share your experience with me? Thank you all! Janet

Re: Which is the better product; Google Home or Amazon Echo?
Spotify is a desktop program or an app. I
can't tell you how you would use it with The Echo. And I don't know how
much you would pay per month to have access to it on the Echo. I also
don't know if you can create playlists on the echo.
It may not matter if you can find the music you
want on Apple or Amazon, they both have large libraries. But Spotify's
library is larger.
As far as playing cds causing dirt, I really doubt
it. Nothing touches the cd when it's playing. There is no friction
against the cd to rub anything off of it or damage the plastic. If dust or
dirt is getting into the CD player, I'm not sure how.

Hi
Gene,
I
am currently paying Apple Music $9.99 per month, and I don’t really want to
spend any more than that. What I like about the music subscriptions
is
one
can create their own playlist. I have most of the same music on my
computer, but I would have to burn all those songs on a disc, and I’ve done that
before, but I think that might have messed up my Bose stereo a little, and I
would need to send my Bose stereo back to Bose, and pay $114, and they would
clean it and set it back to factory settings, so it would be like bran new, so I
wouldn’t want to put those discs back in the stereo. I did use the
cheapest CD’S to burn music, and I don’t think that was a good idea now!
The radio will play on the Bose, but if I insert a cd, the cd will either do
nothing, or it will just get stuck in it. Bose told me before just to buy
a cd cleaner, and if that didn’t work to send it to them, so I did buy and used
the cd cleaner, but I could only play my cd’s in the Bose for maybe close to a
year, and now it is right back doing the same thing.
Is
Spotify
an app? Not familiar with that.

How much do you
anticipate spending monthly on music? It might be better to use something
like Spotify with the Echo if you intend to spend at least ten dollars per
month.

Mary, So it sounds like it
might be a task to find the skills I might want. As far as listening to
several pod casts, well, I'm not sure I would want to put to much time in to
that, as I have a busy schedule as it is! LOL! So, I now see I need
to do some research on this as well! LOL! Smile! The
reason I would want to connect the Echo to my Bose stereo is because from what
I've heard, the Echo is not the best sounding Device out there for listening to
music. I wanted to purchase Amazon music, but I want a good sound though,
especially if I have to pay the Amazon music monthly. I also
want to listen to the news, as asking Alexa for the weather, make a call, etc.
Thank you again.

Hi Janet, You have put your finger on the biggest issue I have with
the Echo. The skills are great, that is, when you can find those that you

there if you have time to spend listening to that stuff. Some
capabilities are there out of the box, of course, like listening to

Re: Which is the better product; Google Home or Amazon Echo?
I don't know what is meant by seven speakers.
does that mean seven speakers you can attach or Blue Tooth speakers? I
wouldn't think it would mean having seven speakers in the unit itself. I
don't have any of these products and I don't know if the full size Echo has more
features or can run more skills than the dot. But without more
information, I wouldn't make any decision based on the number of
speakers listed. No unit of the size of the Echo would have seven built-in
speakers. And if you are going to play whatever you buy through your
stereo, the quality of the internal speaker is irrelevant.

Hi
Mike,
Thank
you as this answers quite a few of my questions, and this is good
information! So if the Echo has 7 speakers, and the Dot has 1 speaker,
this sounds like the Echo would have much more quality sound, and that does
explain why the Amazon Echo cost more money. So I can just tell Alexa to
enable several different skills, wow, I like this! Smile!
Thank
you also for the phone number as I think I will give them a call to find out
more about this Visa card and its rewards. Amazon says if I apply for this
Visa card, I will automatically get $50 off of my first purchase, not bad!
LOL!
Thank
you again, as I always appreciate the help.

Just to help a leettle
bit. The Amazon Echo has 7 speakers, whereas the Echo Dots have only 1
speaker. As for acquiring skills, you can ask Alexa to
enable probably hundreds if not thousands of skills, but if it's not a
skill Alexa can enable for you there is plenty of help out there to learn
how.
Also, the Amazon / Chase Visa
card information is very accessible from a telephone. You can make
payments, schedule payments, hear your balance, your rewards points plus much
more from their,

Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers. Sent from my

Hi Gene,
No I don’t have anything that I could test with now. Let’s hold on, and I will call Bose, and ask them about this, and let you know what they say. Bose is
usually pretty good about asking them questions, and they still have or at least used to have my system in their computer, so I will see.

sentences to describe the kinds of line-in and line-out connectors you very likely have. You very likely have line-in and line-out connectors but there are two widely used kinds, and I would have to describe both.

HI Chris and Everyone.
Is there any way I can tell myself which plug I might have on my Bose? I’ve had the Bose for at least ten years, and I don’t remember which outputs it might
have. I know there is a output in the back of it, but don’t know what it is for though.

If your Bose stereo has a 3.5MM jack for input, then you can. If it has RCA jacks for input you'd need a 3.5MM male to RCA jacks cable.
Howard,
Thank you, this is good to know. I am seriously considering an Echo Dot myself. You say I can connect an Echo Dot to my home entertainment system which is a Bose stereo and not just a speaker?

I have an Echo Dot. I don't do much music on it but it sure sounds better
than I ever expected; much better than those terrible cell phone speakers.
Also, it has an output jack which can be connected to one's home
entertainment system.

Re: Which is the better product; Google Home or Amazon Echo?
Hi Gene,
I am currently paying Apple Music $9.99 per month, and I don’t really want to spend any more than that. What I like about the music subscriptions is
one can create their own playlist. I have most of the same music on my computer, but I would have to burn all those songs on a disc, and I’ve done that before, but I think
that might have messed up my Bose stereo a little, and I would need to send my Bose stereo back to Bose, and pay $114, and they would clean it and set it back to factory settings, so it would be like bran new, so I wouldn’t want to put those discs back in
the stereo. I did use the cheapest CD’S to burn music, and I don’t think that was a good idea now! The radio will play on the Bose, but if I insert a cd, the cd will either do nothing, or it will just get stuck in it. Bose told me before just to buy a cd
cleaner, and if that didn’t work to send it to them, so I did buy and used the cd cleaner, but I could only play my cd’s in the Bose for maybe close to a year, and now it is right back doing the same thing.
Is
Spotify an app? Not familiar with that.

How much do you anticipate spending monthly on music? It might be better to use something like Spotify with the Echo if you intend to spend at least ten dollars per month.

Mary,
So it sounds like it might be a task to find the skills I might want. As far as listening to several pod casts, well, I'm not sure I would want to put to much time in to that, as I have a busy schedule as it is! LOL! So, I now see I need to do some research
on this as well! LOL! Smile!
The reason I would want to connect the Echo to my Bose stereo is because from what I've heard, the Echo is not the best sounding Device out there for listening to music. I wanted to purchase Amazon music, but I want a good sound though, especially if I have
to pay the Amazon music monthly.
I also want to listen to the news, as asking Alexa for the weather, make a call, etc.
Thank you again.

Re: Amazon Visa Card Question Please.
Hi robin, Wow, so Chase Bank will send me my Visa card in Braille if I request it? wow, I like that, as my bank does not do that, matter of fact, I have been having a very difficult time using my bank's site on my computer, but if I download their app on my phone, well, it is even worse!

Marie

Hi Mike,
Thank you as this answers quite a few of my questions, and this is good information! So if the Echo has 7 speakers, and the Dot has 1 speaker, this sounds
like the Echo would have much more quality sound, and that does explain why the Amazon Echo cost more money. So I can just tell Alexa to enable several different skills, wow, I like this! Smile!
Thank you also for the phone number as I think I will give them a call to find out more about this Visa card and its rewards. Amazon says if I apply for this
Visa card, I will automatically get $50 off of my first purchase, not bad! LOL!
Thank you again, as I always appreciate the help.

Just to help a leettle bit. The Amazon Echo has 7 speakers, whereas the Echo Dots have only 1 speaker. As for acquiring skills, you can ask Alexa to enable probably hundreds if not thousands of skills, but
if it's not a skill Alexa can enable for you there is plenty of help out there to learn how.
Also, the Amazon / Chase Visa card information is very accessible from a telephone. You can make payments, schedule payments, hear your balance, your rewards points plus much more from their,
1-8888-247-4080 phone number.
Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers.

Amazon Music Question Please.
Hi Marie and all. Ok Marie, time to whipe the egg off your face! Smile! You can correct me if I am wrong, but it sounds like you purchased Amazon's music? Can you tell me what you think about their music subscription? Such as do they have a large variety of music? So one could create their own play list? How much does it cost per month, or does it depend on different factors? I'm asking this because when I do purchase an Echo or Dot, I will more than likely also purchase Amazon music. I currently have Apple music on my phone, but will switch when I purchase the Echo or Dot. So if someone is using Amazon's music, would you please share your experience with me? Thank you all! Janet

Re: Amazon Visa Card Question Please.
As I said, I have not had the Dot very long but last week I asked it to play a playlist from Amazon. The response was that she could not stream from this device so I assumed it was not capable of streaming the music. However, I just tried the same and it is now streaming the playlist with no problem Maybe my WyFy had the hiccups or something. LOL! Sorry for the misinformation. (with egg on my face!) Marie

Howard, Thank you, this is good to know. I am seriously considering an Echo Dot myself. You say I can connect an Echo Dot to my home entertainment system which is a Bose stereo and not just a speaker? Janet

I have an Echo Dot. I don't do much music on it but it sure sounds better than I ever expected; much better than those terrible cell phone speakers. Also, it has an output jack which can be connected to one's home entertainment system.

HI Everyone, I'm still debating which Echo or Dot to buy. So far I am considering either the Echo Dot, or the Echo second generation. I am looking for something that has a good sound quality as I will probably buy Amazon's music. I went on to the Amazon web site, and they are giving me a offer in which I don't know anything about, so I want to ask those who might be more familiar with the Amazon Visa Card. This offer is only if I buy an Echo or dot. So if anyone is familiar with the card would you please share your information or experience? I copied and pasted below the message I get when I visit the site.

Re: Outlook 2016 Contacts
Is there a pattern, for example, the second one up
from where you are or some reliable pattern that would allow you to easily
compensate?

Subject: [TechTalk] Outlook 2016 Contacts
Hello, I'm using the latest build of JAWS 2018 with
Outlook 2016. I'm experiencing this annoying issue where, when I flip to the
Contacts screen, I can arrow through the various contacts, but when I enter
on a contact I believe is highlighted, I discover someone else has
been activated. I have changed the view to Card View. In fact, I think
I've cycled through the various views, but nothing has helped. VFO tells
me it's an Office issue. I should consider updating Office, which to me is
code for, we don't know what the heck is bothering your software. Has anyone
else experienced this, and if so, how did you fix it? I can go to Outlook
2013 if necessary, but I would rather not uninstall and reinstall if I can
avoid it. Thanks, Joe

Re: UEB Braille code and restaurant menu inaccessibility
Hi all, Well, well, well, I guess both chivalry and problem solving are dead. It's a real shame too. Problem solving is so helpful! I noticed last night when I was looking up the dollar sign on my cheat sheet and couldn't figure out which dots were which. I went to my handy, dandy brailleNote and wrote the symbols down till I got the one that looked the same as the one in the book. One does not need to have a BrailleNote or even a Perkins Brailler to solve this problem. All you need is a scrap of paper and a slate and stylus. Write it down, duplicate it, hello? Is anyone home? Yes it would be easier if the dot numbers were given, but since they aren't, you have to stretch your mind just a tiny bit. It's good for you! People yammer on and on about physical exercise when sometimes what is needed is mental stretching. Ann P. -- Ann K.
