Re: Amazon Echo Show And Loss Of Blue Tooth Connectivity

Ron Canazzi

Hi Group,

After consulting with Chris G. from Mystic Access, I found the solution to my problem.  People would do well to save this for future reference--particularly if you are using an Echo device and do not have a smart phone.

With the echo Show, you can do most things on the web interface, but one thing you cannot do is to search for a paring Blue Tooth device.  You must either use the smart phone app or the device itself.  Using the device itself involves using touch gestures for the screen.  You can start by asking Alexa to go to settings. Once there you use the touch gesture: one finger to highlight the blue tooth  item then double tap  and then once it is exposed, highlight the name of the device you need to pair and double tap to complete the paring.  I am very clumsy with touch gestures, but once explained, it only took a few minutes for me to pair the proper device.

Hi Group,

A few weeks ago, I started having issue with conflicts between by Amazon Echo Show built in Blue Tooth and the Blue tooth for my Victor Reader Stream II and it's Evantech Blue Tooth external device.  Some how when I would connect the Victor to the Evantech, the Echo Show would also connect.  I was told on this or another list to go into the settings online (I don't have a smart phone) and disable the Evantech under settings/blue tooth/devices.  I did this, but with some difficulty.  I couldn't get rid of the Evantech without getting rid of the Sharkk Wireless Speaker which I used for both the Victor and the Echo Show.  When I tried re enabling the Sharkk Wireless Speaker, the Echo Show is unable to locate the device.  I tried this under settings/blue tooth/pair a new device.  It simply isn't seeing the device any longer.  Before the issue of the conflict, the 3 devices: echo, Victor and Evantech had been playing nicely together with no problems. I was on the phone with Amazon support for over an hour and they have no clue.  The Victor Reader and the Evantech still work together perfectly.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate them.

Solution, was "Is there a way to easily skip an ad on Youtube?"

-

It is better in the first place not to have the ads on youtube, or anywhere else for that matter. Here is the way to avoid them.

Computers rely on what is called the hosts file when making internet connections.

That text file contains the ip addresses of sources on the net. If an ip appears in hosts the computer ignores it. This can be the ip of an
ad or others not wanted.

Here is windows specific info and a hosts file to install instad of the default. It is updated from time to time so doing a fresh install
will catch ip sources with ads and other things to be avoided.

I use a mac, folllowing the windows link is a link to info specific to the mac and linux/unix machines. It uses the same hosts file as does
windows but it is kept in a different place in the operating system

Since using this method for a few years; I have never had a youtube or anyother ad.

Try doing it without using the scripts an dsee if you can do it then.
If so then the issue is with the scripts and if not then the issue is either in goldwave or elsewhere.

Hi,

I buy a lot of shows off iTunes and also movies because I have as you may or
may not know, an apple tv 4th generation tv box. My questions is this. What
screen reader works best with iTunes, jaws or NVDA? And when in iTunes, how
do I quickly get to my purchased tv shows only, and not every single tv
show? And how do I move by seasons and so on? I was thinking of buying an
iPod touch, 6th gen, I think is the latest to more easily watch and stream
my purchased shows on the go when wifi is available. But I hear lots of
people use iPads. In schools and stuff like that iPads are used. So are
iPads better than iPod touches? It seems like they have similar apple
processors in them and such. I really like my android devices. But apple has
some stuff that google android does not, and vice-versa. So perhaps it is
best to have one or two of each? Also for watching my favorite classic
nickelodeon shows from the 1990s at night, an iPod touch is more portable
than a laptop. Plus I am interested in checking out the blindfold games, and
I do not think they will come to android anytime soon. I’ll probably get
either a 32gig or 64gig iPod touch. When available, I would rather stream my
shows than download them.

Amazon Echo Show And Loss Of Blue Tooth Connectivity

Ron Canazzi

Hi everyone:

As I understand it, zoom is a conferencing application. It allows multiple individuals to conduct online audio and video conferencing. It is not like Skype or Google voice. One cannot get a phone number through Zoom. However, you can invite others to use the application and you can communicate with those people that way.

Just trying to clarify things. It’s a very accessible app on the iPhone. I don’t know about other platforms.

However, it also puts egg on my face as well, since I received

It is accessible on Windows, Mac, iOS, Android and Fire OS.  It is also usable on the good old phone if desired.

Lets try and clear up some confusion.

If you are joining a meeting such as Accessible World or Mystic Access meetings you don't need to pay anything to use Zoom as one of the hosts giving those meetings already has paied and can have up to 100 people in the event.

However if you are a free account and want to host your own meetings with 3 or more people for more than 40 minutes you would need to pay.

If you want longer than 40 minutes yes you do have to pay. Just thought I should let you know.
