Hi Group,


So I thought I knew everything about Thunderbird. Well, here's something I don't know and can't easily find under any settings.


From the time I started using Thunderbird in Windows 7 years ago, when I have grouped messages by conversation and when I want to delete them, I get a prompt saying: 'messages in this thread will be deleted' you are presented with a delete button, a cancel button and a checkbox that says: 'don't show me this message again.'  I always left the checkbox unchecked as a safety factor against mass deletion of messages.  Somehow, today, I must have checked that box.  I can't see just how to enable that message again.


If anyone can give steps as to how to enable that message again, I would greatly appreciate the information.

My limited experience with using Alexa on the Fire tablet is that you can actually perform very few functions which are specific to the tablet. You can specify which apps you want to open, such as "open settings" but you can't be specific about what type of settings you want to open. As an example, I can't say "open settings, device options" or "open device options settings" as you can on an iPhone. You can say "open home screen" to go back to your main home screen. If you say "open" followed by an app which is not on your system it will actually try to search the Amazon app store for what you asked for and will attempt to take you to a page containing relevant results. As an example, if you say "open crossword" it will show you a page from the app store with information about an app called Crossword. When I said "battery status" it told me that it wasn't able to give me information about that. There may be other tablet-specific functions that others have found but these are the ones I've attempted.

Anyone having troubles adding new members to facebook groups?
About a time ago, I'm experiencing an annoying situation.
I'm using m.facebook and every time I'm going to try to add some new member in any group I'm administrating or moderating, I just can't do it.
When I open the notification saying that X profile wants to join my group, the page shows me what I suppose to be a PHP code or stuff like that.
So, is anyone having this issue too?

Hi Shirley,
If you are using m.facebook, try to do it:
Open the page with the photo
Find and click the "view full-size button"
Then, after the foto is opened, CTRL+S to save it.
Just give it a name including the path folder and then it's done.

I doubt if F S is doing anything, but there is someone who purports to fix these dear old devices. Someone will be able to tell you who he is.

Brian, friends and I still use the 40-cell braille-lite and our 20-cell versions. They are the best editors for documents that we know of.

It's a piece of cake to edit even "enter" or "return characters and other kinds of control characters.

Yes; I go back to the dos days, too. The best braille device I like is the braille lite. It's so simple, and it has nothing to do with windows, which only complicates things. I have had times, using the braille sense, where I have forgotten to save what I was working on, acting like I was using a braille lite; only to have to try to do it all over again. Yes, I know you save in dos, too; but the braille lite did it for you. Pam.Pam.

Thanks for the info on the Orbit. I tend to use my units as
stand-alone, and don't pair them with anything useful except the
reading-fingers. (Smiles.) I have approximately 7000 books from
bookshare. Does the Orbit allow for?
folders of books, let's say, by subject?
So all my history textbooks could be in a folder. when the folder is
opened, the books would show up in alphabetical order?
So just how does that SD card operate? What sorts of limits are
there to it?

I've changed the subject line a bit.

What I like about the Orbit so far is the price. I do not own one,
but I own very expensive HIMS notetaking devices. I love them, but
if they go down, I'm sunk. Last year I would love to have gotten a
few cells replaced on my 32-cell u2 device. Nope; they couldn't do
it; they wanted
2100 dollars to replace the entire braille display.
That's four orbits, in case you're keeping score.
I don't own an orbit yet. I'm considering it. It would be nice, first,
to just be able to hold an orbit and work with it for 5 or 15 minutes.
My understanding is that it will open whatever file you have and
that is what you see. if you have a text file, it does not
translate it into braille, as we are so used to with our HIMS or braille-note type devices.
There is no speech either, isn't that right? And there's no flash
memory, to store things. it's all done on an SD card, right?
Someone with an Orbit or with knowledge of it, perhaps you will
chime in and help me a little.
If my inquiry is beyond the scope of what is desired on the list,
I'll gladly move it into a private discussion.

Hi all,


I'm looking for a new laptop and I recently searched on amazon.com.  I found one that looked good but in reading the customer comments there was one person who said they had bought a laptop from amazon.com, a Dell, and later on when they needed some work done or something Dell told them that their warranty had run out because it had started the day that amazon purchased the machine, 80 something days before the person bought the computer from amazon.  Does anybody know if that was just an isolated incident or if it happens more often?  I don't want to buy a machine without a full warranty.

Yes, it is fairly accessible. You can read books, email, and web pages, listen to music and things like that. I couldn't find a way to successfully edit text documents however. The screen reader isn't like androids talkback.

I just tried it and the form that comes up is horrible. Everything is some kind of modal access dialog, which means not a thing to me. I typed in an email address and pressed TAB, then I figured out after several attempts that it wanted a message, so I typed one and pressed ENTER.  Then I got a Windows notification that said "Take a look at what's in this shared folder." No email arrived, the folder did not get shared. I don't think this really works.
