Re: exFat to NTFS What are the benefits?
Gene
How are you going to use the drive? I used to
know more about the comparisons of formats but I haven't read about it for two
or three years or more. I believe that NTFS is not compatible with certain
operating systems such as Linux, (spelling.) It may be now with Apple but
I don't think it was for a time. But I think the main reason external
drives may not be formatted in NTFS is for the widest possible
compatibility.

Subject: [TechTalk] exFat to NTFS What are the
benefits? Hi folks. I've just recently purchased a Western Digital 16tb external drive (2x8tb). The format is ExFat and I did intend changing it to NTFS but as I don't know the advantages or disadvantages of either system is it worth the effort to convert. What is the difference between the two and which is most recommended? Also, how long does it take to convert a 16tb drive? The drive is empty by the way, I've not had time to put anything on it. All help appreciated. Walter.

where are the thunderbird mailboxes in windows 7?
Troy Burnham
Hi all,
I just went into the appdata folder and there are 3 folders, local, LocalLow, and Roming, and there's both a Mozilla and a thunderbird folder in at least 2 of those folders but I can't get any deeper to find the mailboxes. Can somebody please help? Troy

Fwiw, that's how I did it and it worked perfectly on two different computers running different versions of Windows.

To my knowledge, there is no connection between Drop box and a Microsoft account. However, there is a definite connection to One Drive and the MS account.

Re: information on screen readers
Jack And Becky <jack@...>
Well that may be but as a braille only user I have found that it does not present vital information in BRAILLE so is basically useless to those of us who must utilize that method. That's the case with all of them I have tried! It just doesn't show you, what you need to know in BRAILLE! Aira might work but I haven't felt like messing about with it yet!

Victor my friend that is not saying very much! Facebook messenger is just about the most fussy idiosyncratic app I have ever tried using! However as a totally deaf fella, I gotta use it to communicate with PEOPLE! That is my first order! I spend a lot of my time trying to do that. COMMUNICATE WITH PEOPLE!! Anyway, they supposedly have blind people who vet their apps but it's nonsense since they take absolutely no heed of the feedback they get from us! I know, So tried! I truly would not use it unless I had too It's gnarly MAN!

Net Framework?
Lisa Belville
Hi, all.
Using windows 10 1803 build 17134. I just installed the Pontes Media Downloader 2.1 listed on the monthly list of resources sent out by this list. The installation went Okay, but now when I open the program it's asking for something called Net Framework 2.5. I've heard of this before but I'm not sure what it is. Is this something that's safe to install and do I really need it? TIA for the help Lisa -- Lisa Belville missktlab1217@frontier.com

I am inclined to agree. Whether you use the Facebook mobile site or the full site, chatting on Facebook is pretty difficult. It can be done on the full site, but it’s almost more trouble than it’s worth. Facebook and Facebook messenger are more accessible on mobile devices. Victor

Re: Messenger
Veronica Kirk
TerriLynne, I think it is hopeless for a blind person to chat on FB using the computer. Using the message function on the mobile site is not actual chatting. A while back a blind person could use instant bird to carry on a conversation with others, but this no longer works. The message link on the mobile site is mainly for leaving your friends a private message for them to read at some point, and is a poor excuse for an actual conversation. There is a chat link on the mobile site, but it is useless for a blind person. It mainly tells you which of your friends are chatting.

Hi Travis, Thank you for your response. However, if I understand the whole messenger thing correctly, it is not the samde as the one at a time messages to which you are referring. If you go to your messenger page at
a sighted person can see all of the messages in a conversation on that one page. It is a chat option which people can use as a live chat in pairs or groups or whatever. I am part of at least one neighborhood group, but can’t read the darned messages.

On the computer, I use it through the Facebook mobile site: If you tab from the top of the page, you'll find a link close to the top that says "messages." If you have new messages, there will be a number associated with the link. For instance, right now mine says Messages(1) That means there is a new message I haven't checked yet. Clicking on that will take me to that message. If there is no number after the word "messages," clicking on that will get you to the page where you can view recent conversations by user, with links to click on each one if desired. Like Ashley though, I find it to be most efficient using my iPhone. Travis On 12/4/2018 8:55 PM, Ashley Breger via Groups.Io wrote:
